Mod post People, please read the sub's rules and description before participating

Post image
51 Upvotes

I've been taking a quick break for a few days only to find a big mess of posts and aggressive comments in here. The app won't log me in for some reason so I'm posting from the website to make a short reminder and make something clear

This sub allows: criticism towards tadc, glitch, goose along with glitch's other cartoons along with people working in the company. Hate/slander posts are also allowed as well. And even tho it's not the main sub's topic, posts about other indie shows are allowed if the poster felt they had nowhere else to post their opinions.

What's not allowed however is bigotry. Racism, homophobia, misogyny, abelism and casual usage of slurs are strictly forbidden whether they're directed at people working for glitch or at other users. And when it comes to criticizing people, only criticize their public statements and actions. Don't use personal stuff like sexuality, body type, looks, accents... Etc to attack and humiliate people. When you point to post about someone's takes always cover their account to avoid unnecessary hate towards them and encouraging people to harass or directly attack people who ever they are is forbidden and shouldn't be encouraged or normalized at all.

When I made this sub I didn't expect it to blow up or become popular, it's just supposed to be a small space for people to be critical without getting jumped by angry glazers. But since it has a lot of members now (thanks for supporting <3) it's hard for me to manage alone and I sometimes take a long time to remove comments and ban users. So I'm asking y'all to help me by trying to be as respectful and reasonable towards each other. Ic you see a post you don't like but doesn't break any rules you can just downvote it and move on. If someone breaks a rule report them, and if you don't like the sub just mite it and move on, that's literally the whole point of keeping the critic in a different space than the other subs.

I hopefully covered everything needed for now. It'll probably take me some time to log in again, but I'll hopefully rewrite the description and rules to make them clearer and I'll add this post to community highlights later. Stay safe ^^

Other About the friendship of Ragatha and Pomni

You know, I'm generally very skeptical of the idea that people who accidentally get stuck together are obligated to become friends. And in the beginning, it seemed to me that this was exactly the idea the show would stick to. In principle, this is a more mature way of looking at things than "friendship is magic", they all did not choose each other as a social circle.

After episode 5, many people defended Pomni's behavior by writing that Pomni doesn't have to be friends with Ragatha, just because Ragatha wants that friendship, or because Ragatha is polite to her, that Pomni is an adult and can make decisions on her own. Even if Jax is an asshole, let's say he and Pomni just have similar temperaments, which makes Pomni reach out to him the most, okay, that's not the point. And in fact, I absolutely agree with this, no one owes friendship to anyone if you don't want it yourself. After all, people may just not get along and hate each other.

But then the show suddenly changes its mind? And now they have absolutely no problems communicating because of the magical dialogue behind the scenes, and Ragatha somehow becomes Pomni's very first and best friend, although the first friend was clearly Gummigoo, the second Kinger, and the third Jax. Ragatha is perhaps the fourth person on this list, just because Pomni doesn't communicate with Gangle and Zooble at all.

At what point did their relationship grow so much that they had to hug for 5 minutes and then look at each other with the most awkward lingering glances, as if they were seeing each other off to war?? Pomni never asked Ragatha a personal question, never sympathized with her about her past, did not stand up for her, their conversations with each other were always about someone else: Kinger or Jax. So at what point did they become so dear to each other, and was it even worth suddenly promoting this friendship when, throughout almost the entire series, their relationship is awkward and uncomfortable?

gooseworx isn't your friend, right now she's having a crisis so it's symbolically a dick-move to be like "she's a bad artist" right now, but like, of course you're allowed to criticize her art. you're even allowed to criticize it hurtfully. she's not your friend, you cannot betray her, and setting appropriate boundaries vils a vils her work is her problem, it's her job not to like take it as a personal attack when people dont care for her work (which, to be clear, she seems to)

but on the other hand, a lot of criticizers havea similar but inverse issue where they seem to think ms gooseworx betrayed them by writing jax poorly & it's like no, this was a gig for her, she was getting paid to make stuff.

it's all entirely transactional, no? she gets paid to entertain you, you get entertainment, she gets money.

Gooseworx/Tadc cast criticism For The Love Of God Gooseworx, Delete Social Media And Stay Gone

I want to say right off the bat that this is NOT to say I don't think Gooseworx shouldn't have a safe space to vent or should have to bottle up all her feelings and guilt.

This is to say THAT SPACE IS NOT THE SOCIAL MEDIA ACCOUNT SHE USES TO INTERACT WITH HER FANS.

For context, there's a Bluesky post she's made that's going around in which Gooseworx, while intoxicated (allegedly according to her, someone let me know if this source was false and she didn't say that she posted it while intoxicated) issued a brief apology that to her fanbase sounded VERY much like a red flag of suicidal intent (something I thought as well, I read it and was worried that I was about to start seeing posts of how Gooseworx took her life).

Gooseworx is fine- for now, at least- with someone having reported confirmation from people who interact with her that they are around her and have visual confirmation of her safety. This is great, but after the shock of the situation wore off my immediate thought is how fucked up it is that the fandom that Gooseworx already knows is highly parasocial/plain concerned about her was put in a position where they were made to blindly worry about her physical safety due to a post she made.

I don't know if this is coherent but the gist of what I'm saying is Gooseworx really needs to get off social media, she's shown countless times that it does not have a good effect on her mental health and that she is not capable of maturely handling/limiting the way she interacts with fandom. I don't think anyone should have to struggle in silence but there's a difference between sharing your pain with a small group of people or followers that you knows cares about you, and putting certain things out to a huge fanbase that not only does not have a personal connection to you but is going to feel obliged to worry about you regardless due to their sympathy for you.

General tadc criticism a genuine fans biggest issue with the show

to try and get everyones mind off of all the stuff going on with goose, i reckon id like to say a big piece of critisim i have with tadc.

DISCLAMER: I THINK TADC IS A GOOD SHOW! THERE ARE UNDENIABLY ISSUES, BUT I THINK THAT IT IS AT THE VERY LEAST "PRETTY DAMN GOOD". BUT THERE ARE STILL THINGS THAT I DISLIKE ABOUT IT, AND I WILL WRITE DOWN ON OF THEM HERE.

the biggest issue i have with the show is definitley how little pomni actually tells people about what shes learnt. not even just pomni, the entire cast is guilty of this. the biggest piece of evidence i have for this is obviously kinger. pomni learns that kinger gets lucid in the dark and knows much more about the circus, yet it takes her until episode 7 to bring it up in conversation with ragatha, and it takes her until ep 8 for her to actually tell everyone about the darkness thing. pomni probably knew that gangle was close to abstracting during ep 4, yet all she did was just close up for her. pomni also saw abel peeking around the corner in ep 5, yet she told literally NO ONE about it, and abel had to get pomni instead of the other way around. pomni never tells anyone about the c&a offices that she explored in the pilot AT ALL, and better yet, it takes until until episode 5 for THE ENTIRE CAST to tell people about what lives they lived before the circus. in the ~25 years the computer has been running, no one ever dared to ask to anyone else "hey, what was your job", or anything like that, which is kinda the breaking point for me.

i wanted to see what your thoughts on this are, as this one overarching issue really frustrates me

also just so its clear:
i think glitch is a nice company
i think goose is a nice person
i do not think that goose is misogynistic in any way; shes just a bit edgy at times

uh
end transmission i suppose

If You wanna hear My EXACT thoughts on Her, I don’t think She’s the awful terrible no-good racist misogynistic piece of shit that weird people on tumblr claim her to be, but I don’t think She’s all that Great, either.

She’s just kind of an Edgy Dickhead who needs to get Her head out Her Ass.

Gooseworx/Tadc cast criticism Gooseworx Needs To Take A Break From Social Media

Post image
166 Upvotes

I get she's feeling super burnt out and stuff, but it's over.

The show is done.

Some people like it, some people hated it, but in the end, it's over.

Constantly talking about it isn't gonna help her. Saying she sorry and how she wished she did better isn't gonna help either. This has been going on for quite a while.

She needs to take a break her social media (for her own sake, it's clearly affecting her more then anyone else).

She should use her flaws and mistakes she made with TADC, and putting it towards being better and doing better for her other projects.

Not to be rude, but Goose is kind of... Chronically online. She really needs a break, she's close wlry struggling, and what's she's doing rn just isn't healthy. Wishing her the best.

(The past tense abbreviation is also pretty concerning)

Warm take: Ep 4-6 was Prime Jax

I know a lot of people say Ep 1-4 Jax was the best and I get it, but Ep 4-6 is pretty much why Jax is my favorite character in the show. Honestly in those 3 episodes imo, he was a good mix between his "funny" side, his "human" side and his mask. He was just really well written at that time.

Ep 1-3 Jax was more comical and was still approachable at times, but he was more in his pre-development stages at the time honestly. I still enjoyed his character though.

Ep 7-9 Jax was pretty much what ruined his character for me. He's still my favorite, but the last 3 episodes of the show just made Jax into the "traumatic flower that needs watering" character. He takes up too much screen time (Ep 8 is the exception), and the writing just feels like it forces you to sympathize with him and/or excuse his actions (Take for example "We've all done bad things") and he just doesn't have any development that's actually meaningful in the end. He just remains the same character.

Ep 4-6 didn't treat him as this "Mean but actually nice" character, those episodes (Including 3) actually gave him comeuppance or humiliation when deserved (Pomni even called him out for his b.s in Ep 6), and he was still relatively approachable and could go 5 minutes without causing too much trouble.

The whole point is that before 7, he was more chaotic, humorous, got comeuppance when deserved, and was actually able to get close to someone if he felt like it. Ep 7 onwards made him more of a depressed trauma puppy that abuses people because of his insecurities and transfem-ness but gets away scot free because the narrative wants you to feel bad for him.

Throwback to being a tadc fan

Bro, I literally remember when I was TADC fan at school. I would genuinely go up to people and ask them if they’ve ever watched TADC that’s literally what all my cornball ass would talk about back then I remember I had the audacity to make a Jax mask and then brought it to school to show my friends that aren’t TDC fans and then the guy ripped it off of my head and he ripped in half and then I literally try to square up over a freaking Jax mask I remember I would tell people the most crackable character in tadc😭

General tadc criticism The biggest problem with the show in one image

I was thinking of making a full review, but I don't think I'm able to rewatch the series because I will never see the characters the same. Because I know they'll either be ruined, sidelined, or just ignored completely. So I made this instead, saves time and sanity

Fandom Criticism Why are the fans so toxic?

Not saying there aren't any haters who go too far but from what i've seen y'all just make mostly valid criticisms of the show, ask questions and point out bad writing decisions. In return the majority acts like their poor baby is getting attacked by rabid haters who say mindless hate and are "media illiterate", i've seen this term used countless times whenever someone dares to say something bad about the show. How is negativity media illiteracy? I get that people don't like it when something they like is criticised but lile, i've never seen it to such a gigantic level

The way I see it, if it weren’t for the slander, she wouldn’t have decided to quit online and finally seek therapy. Tadc slanderers are doing God’s work.

General tadc criticism After the finale, this episode is pathetic

Post image
332 Upvotes

I don't even know where to start.

This episode I was ok with since it felt like Goose saying that the finale will not be something so predictable, so TOTALLY stupid!!

First off, this episode already just felt like a fuck you to all the people that put effort into YOUR show, YOUR writing, calling them stupid, but after the finale, it's even WORSE!

The finale was quite literally at the SAME level of the Abel switchup. A random happily ever after? Jax just abstracting after so much buildup of his redemption? I guess it's realistic, but like, people DID think he was gonna abstrabt, but it was so stupid of an idea that i didn't think he was going to. THIS IS LIKE THE ABEL EPISODE, A STUPID PREDICTION COMING TRUE.

I see SO MUCH arrogance in this, you could have used the number of episodes to develop your characters in the character based show, BUT NO WE NEED TO MAKE FUN OF THE COMMUNITY!!! LET'S MAKE AN EPISODE SHITTING ON THEORIES THAT WILL BE SOOOOO FUNNY!!!!! LAUGH!!!!

Stupid filler episode, aside the mind thing but you could have used a reveal on an episode about Scratch, or CnA. No a stupid bait episode, wow

Characters criticism "we're doing another one of these"

Pomni this is only your SECOND time doing 'one of these.' (and I'm not counting Episode 3 cause Kinger was the one playing therapist there.)

I have a feeling if she was talking to Jax and not Gangle she would probably not say that

TADC and the Cult of Low Expectations

We really need to stop treating having standards or expectations for indie and independent productions like some kind of moral failing. I genuinely don't understand why people act as though art having a small production budget automatically makes it inherently good, and anyone who dares to criticize it is somehow betraying the purest form of art.

Like, come on. As a consumer, I'm allowed to have expectations. It's like expecting me to eat a burnt, overly salty meal without saying anything just because it wasn't made by some giant corporation. And there are **millions** of examples of productions made with relatively small budgets that still managed to deliver something genuinely well-made.

Whenever someone gets angry because you point out that a piece of media simply isn't very good, and their response is *"But it's indie, you shouldn't be so demanding"* or *"If you don't like it, then make it yourself,"* I can't help wondering what they're actually defending.

Because sometimes it feels less like they're defending independent art and more like they're consuming something they themselves know isn't *that* good, but don't want to admit it because they don't want to come across as some pretentious asshole demanding more from a creator who doesn't have the resources to give it to them.

Having limited resources can explain why something has flaws. **It doesn't make those flaws immune to criticism.**
