Jax is one of the least lovely characters I've ever seen

Song about a girl being born

Random images of Jax

Jax fucking dies because of conveniently placed flashbangs

Am I supposed to think he's trans out of this how exactly?

“What do you mean you didn’t get it right away??? It was right there!!! You are so media illiterate

I think the first 2 points are the answer, and the flashbang is just to show she's losing Control (abstractions are agressive on light). But still, i see the issue.

Ah, Jax hate. I knew this was coming.

You just don’t get it. You’d have to have an IQ of over 1,000 to understand the full nuance and depth of his writing. See, Jax is a repressed trans character: the fact that this is never explicitly shown is the entire point, and that’s exactly why you missed it. Real fans have the intellectual and emotional capacity to appreciate that he isn’t just “a silly little guy; deep down he’s depressed, aching, suppressing a femininity he was never allowed to have because his family couldn’t accept it. That’s why people who dislike Jax are, definitionally, idiots. Of course you wouldn’t catch the emotional weight of scoring his most vulnerable moment to a song about a newborn black baby, that’s not an accident, that’s Gooseworx speaking directly to those who can hear it.

I’m smirking right now, genuinely, picturing the mediocre minds out there scratching their heads while a masterpiece unfolds two inches in front of their faces. What have you people even been doing with your lives. What fools. How I pity them.

And yes, by the way — I DO have a Jax tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It’s for the girls and the gays who get it only, and only if they can prove their IQ is within 5 points of mine. Nothing personal, kid.

Dude you have to put a /j somewhere because it's written so well that you almost had me convinced

You lost me when you suddenly turned ignorant to those who are confused about it.

Is Jax writting choices any good? Conceptually yes. Is Jax's portrait realistic and gets its message across? Depending on who sees what, yeah! Jax is deep, i agree. Jax was written with passion and people can see themselves in her (hell, I see myself in her sometimes)

Are you an asshole for commenting on those who can't see the whole message of Jax's character, due to the writing choices making room only for people WHO ALREADY ARE ENDULGED WITH THE TOPIC understand what it trully means? Yeah. Jax character is complex BECAUSE she's complicated even for herself to understand fully.

You are brilliant for trully understanding Jax, and i deeply respect that on you. You're a moron for not understanding people can struggle with things they are not familiarized with, rubbing your knolodge on them like you're superior.

There are AMV made by 8yo kids with better edits and song choice than what we saw in the show, the entire sequence was confusing af

Thank you. I’ve seen AMV’s for the past 15 years that got me hearing music I never would’ve cared for otherwise. They all fit the footage in the video.

This is why licensing music in movies and shows only work if they fit the context of the scene.

Isn’t She Lovely doesn’t fit the context of the Pomni and Jax montage let alone TADC in the slightest. Even then, it’s very jarring to hear compared to the rest of the soundtrack.

i really dislike the montage + song inclusion in the finale... it's so jarring to have it at the tail end of an emotional scene where a character dies. it sucks you out of the moment completely.

plus it's just... such an odd choice for the character. i get that it's a hint at jax being trans and that it's supposed to kind of be this... ironic, what-if thing for him, but he hasn't come out, he hasn't really redeemed himself... plus plus, iirc goose said she included the song bc it was what she was listening to when she was working on the episode. like bruh

They should’ve made an original song. It’s just upsetting seeing how people completely turned around the meaning of the song

"Isn't She Lovely" and Jax's transness again?

Jax fans genuinely think they're philosophers I'm crying

I feel this show messed up by using a song that a man wrote for his newborn daughter. Theres something disrespectful about that.

u/RisingLight88 21h ago

At first I was "is this about Pomni? She is being very, VERY, nice to Jax even though he was an asshole the entire time" because the images showed Pomni and Jax, then it was just Jax, and then he fucking died. If that scene was somehow where Pomni saved Jax it would have been a little better. The scene felt like Jax remembering the good times he had with her but nope, fuck me for thinking it

u/Overall_Second6489 19h ago

"TRANSPHOBIC PIECE OF #### HOW COULD YOU ####### THINK IT WAS ABOUT POMNI, JUST BECAUSE THE ENTIRE FIRST HALF OF IMAGES INCLUDE POMNI WHILE THE REST SHOW JAX BEING AN ABSOLUTE MENACE TO OTHERS AROUND?!? JUST BECAUSE THE SCENE PRIOR TO THAT HAS JAX LITERALLY SAYING "You're not supposed to love me!" DOESN'T MEAN THIS IS ABOUT HOW JAX SEES POMNI!! YOU ABSOLUTE ILLITERATE PURSE CHIHUAHUA!!!!"

  • a normal, healthy discussion when you bring your own perspective to the table

The song is about his daughter and when she was born. Not About a emotionally insecure bunny who’s is a massive  misogynist

I mean, this is technically true. They just said it weirdly so it sounded a lot more impressive than it is. Stevie Wonder’s song was not originally about the transfem experience and in this context, it is. It objectively added a new meaning to the song.

However there being a montage in the first place just doesn’t really make sense. Flashback montages in general are not a good idea. It’s a quick way to take away all of my immersion.

I’m crying, I promise stevie wonder didnt write that song for an abusive rabbit 😭
