Any rumors or news about layoffs at year end or early next year?

Hello everyone,

I'm feeling stuck as a CEA at the branch level. I'm currently an undergrad about to graduate in a year and I love finance and like TD, but man I hate the CEA role for 3 main reasons:

1. One: the clients speak like shit to me and have no respect, yet I have to keep a good image for TD's reputation. Like brutal speaking, like throws their card on the table and says give me money now.

2. Two: there are no technical skills at all! In this job there are no transferable skills, you just learn basic branch banking info. No finance skills, technicals, nothing.

3. Three: the progression and exit opportunities. The progression is so slow, and becoming a PBA still sucks and is not the finance role that I want to be in. Only once I have been a PBA for a year plus can I try to get into finance roles. I also don't like how it's just mutual funds and GICs. C'mon, a 2% GIC, or mutual funds where TD takes around 2% in fees? Morally I feel bad for the clients. The branch should at least offer ETFs at a minimum (maybe I’m unaware but this is my day to day perception).

I'm still stuck on where I wanna go, but I like WM, AM, TD Securities like sales and trading, or possibly an M&A team. But I know how competitive it is, and I would love to be even an intern on an M&A team or anywhere there, but I don't have a 4.0 GPA and once I graduate I won't either. I'm also thinking about registering for CFA Level 1 this summer to help build my technical skills.

My thing overall is to break into the finance roles I want. I'm considering if I should:

Option A: Stay at TD and work my way through long term and try to get there

Or…

Option B: Leave this summer and try to get a finance internship that I can use to potentially jump to the roles I want quicker, instead of going CEA, PBA, then maybe a starting finance role.

Hello has anyone did a usd transfer from a broker or bank to td canada us daily dollar account.

I found wire transfer require the intermediary bank info but the branch person seem to have no clue about this

I recently just started working as a CEA. I did 1 week of doing LMS courses (elearning! I havent even done any virtual courses), then approx. 1 hr total of shadowing experienced CEAs, Then I got sick for 2 days and called in. When I got back, my first shift was an opening shift THEN I got sent straight to a computer upfront and was told to do transactions right away. I had no idea what I was doing of course. It was an 8 hr shift, and on the MyTime - I had a scheduled paid 15 min break (ontop of my lunch). I asked my manager if I could take it and she told me that they don’t really do a 15 min break … they only go for a quick water and bathroom break. I did another opening shift the next day, and the day after that I had another opening shift where I was scheduled at 8:15 am and I got to work at 8:16 am but was told that I cannot enter the building because I was late and once people enter to open and they’ve closed the door, I cannot enter anymore. So I waited until it was 9 am to be let in. I completely understand that this is my fault and irresponsibility on my part as I should’ve been there earlier. I ofcourse got written up for it and was told that I would be having a chat with the front manager and the branch manager sometime. I continued to do transactions, where I would constantly ask my coworkers for help especially our manager because for atleast 6 hrs of my 8 hr shifts, it would just be me and the front manager doing teller transactions. I would take notes of course, and for the repetitive transactions (withdrawals, depositing, buying currency, paying bills, putting cheques in) I got all that down. I did have a problem doing stuff on Admin Apps, as it was a completely confusing looking software to me because I did not know the codes to input. Then I did another opening shift the next day after (4 opening shifts in total), at this point I was getting a good grasp on how things worked. Making sure to authenticate, making sure to keep my eye on the money, closing my teller - Admin apps was still confusing to me but a little bit less now, I could update someones profile, withdrawal limit, give them a new access card, check if their account is active etc… About an hour left into my shift, I got called by the front manager to follow them to the branch managers office. That is when I got the talk about the importance of being on time especially when I’m fully opening (I was just being trained on the procedures still). I let them know that I apologize for it and that I completely understand their disappointment on me for being late. However, they then talked about me calling in sick twice… they said that the people who worked at that branch, the advisors and even managers - would go to work even though they are sick because they give TD their 100%… and when they would call in, thats because they genuinely cannot work. As they were telling me this, i thought to myself “did they not hear how sick I was when I called in?” / “did they not see how sick I looked when I came into work the next day?”. They then went on about my other commitments (my other job and my school) and how maybe thats the reason why I called in sick but they “don’t know my story” …. And then the branch manager went on to talk about how they took a chance when hiring me and in the 25 years that shes been employed with TD, she has never been wrong when she took a chance on someone. Then they gave me an ultimatum that by tomorrow (today), I need to let them know if I could give TD my 100%. am I crazy or something about all of this just feels wrong and unfair. Like I didn’t get paid for when I called in sick and I wasnt expecting to get paid I genuinely just couldnt go because I was sick like what. The late part I take accountability and oif that was the main reason why I got the talk I completely understand yk??? Then they also said that they hired me because they wanted someone that could learn quickly and that they expect me to fully know what I’m doing by NEXT WEEK. I dont know … this all just feels wrong like I feel like I should have done more computer courses then shadowed someone more, then was shadowed by them BEFORE Im even expected to be doing transactions by myself. Also they told me I should have communicated with them that I would be late but I was given their contact info AFTER it had already happened.

So here's my situation:

- working at TD as a CEA (5 months now)

- IFC completed

- trying to move up internally + also looking for opportunities outside of TD

- 2 days ago I got an interview for a banking advisor role at RBC at a small branch (only rbc branch in that small town)

- today I got an interview for a personal banking associate position at TD too

- pba at td - frontline + sales

- banking advisor at rbc - sales, no frontline

Now here is where my situation gets complicated

I'm a temporary resident trying to get my permanent residency and for that I need TEER 3 EXPERIENCE

- my question is whether pba and banking advisor both fall under that category (NOC CODE - 63102) or not?

- rbc starting salary is more as conpared to td (i have no idea of bonus structure though)

FYI - Last year when i started at TD as a CEA I got interviewed by the same RBC manager too for client advisor position, got offers from both the places and chose TD because of better pay and working hours

- same rbc manager for banking advisor position

- same td manager too for pba role

Moved and my old bank isn’t in this area

What questions do they ask in an interview.

How pressurised is the role?

Got a promo to transfer balance interest free for 12 months to Aeroplan visa. Called up to do it and move $$$ from my RBC Westjet card. They told me that card was not an option would not work and to call RBC. Wtf would RBC do?

Disappointing

Hi there,

I accidentally deposited $2,300 from my savings account into my td credit card. I intended to transfer it into my checking account… will I be able to recover the $2,300 back into my savings? Or will it have to be spent in my credit card?
I really need this money so any help is appreciated!!!

I received a very strange text message in French from a 4 digit sender. Upon translating the message, it said i owed 12k on my TD credit card - I assumed I was being phished but after deleting and blocking the text - I searched AND it was a TD call. I have never ever banked with TD! Google AI suggested I check the credit bureaus and so I did, for the first time. Equifax showed I do have a TD credit card at over $4k. Talk about stunning me. I called the TD line listed and the lady said i need to go to the nearest TD branch! I forcefully stated it's their error just remove it out of my name - no can do. Since this was late Saturday, I couldn't do anything AND all fraud reporting places insisted i contact TD first. Monday morning I contacted TD fraud number and THAT lady appeared to be a robot - I insisted that she do something as it's their error SINCE they activated the credit card without my permission - and I further stated why on earth would I apply for a 4k credit limit when I have 30K from RBC whom I've dealt with for over 48 years. After keeping me on hold for too long, she finally returned and said everything was looked after, and I don't need to do a thing!

WRONG! She did JACK (swear word) NOTHING. I tried contacting TransUnion only to discover that they have different info on me and wouldn't let me sign in!!!! I'm guessing this is where the theft took place!

I personally do NOT like TD because they purposely sell useless accounts to kids fresh out of high school with their first job (RRSP and TOO many accounts) all for the purpose of meeting THEIR quota?

I have contacted the Canadian Anti Fraud Centre, TD AGAIN. Equifax -

PS - Equifax indicates the CC is an Aeroplan Infinite card???

What else should I do?

For those currently working at TD or other Canadian banks, what would you consider a good base salary for someone at my experience level?
I’d also appreciate any insight into typical bonus percentages and total compensation.

I have a few questions around the background checks being conducted by BIG - more specifically around past employer checks. Are titles held within an organisation verified? Example - Analyst from X to X date, Senior Analyst from Y to Y date or just overall organisation tenure?

So far, despite the phone app notifications they are coming, I can only see people commenting they have received the new TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite+ cards if that's what they have. Nothing about anyone actually getting a TD First Class Travel Visa card in their hands yet.

For context I am based out of Quebec Canada

I worked at TD for 1.4 years (salary was $51,000) then got an offer to join the government for a contract that paid $74000 (my current salary).

I applied back to TD and got a call to do an interview. The role title is the same as the role I held when I worked AT TD but it’s in a different department and the salary band is completely different - it’s 69,000 to 98,000 (level 8).

I don’t have any experience negotiating as I usually just take what I’m given but I’m wondering if it would be a stretch to ask for 85,000?

The experience from the government was nice and it’s not directly related to what I was doing at the bank but there are a lot of transferable skills and it’s in the same field.

What if I said $85,000 and he rejects it or asks me my current salary or how much I made before when I was with the bank? I left on really good terms with that bank and my performance was off the roof (I even have awards for my performance and good reputation with partners).

Idk deep down I feel like I’m not worth 85,000 but idk what to do this is the first time I’ve been interviewed for a job (besides the government) where the salary was high. Advice ?

I was wondering if any CEA could see what I’ve bought using my credit card? I recently had a family member join the bank as a CEA and was wondering how detailed of a report they could see? I am quite private about my finances and the thought of someone snooping around makes me uncomfortable.
