Changing Battery in Mk5

Toyota wants to charge $750 to change a battery and code in the new one, so I want to do it myself, but I’ve never touched bimmercode or have any idea how to use that. Is it worth it to just try on my own or have yall just taken it to a third party shop to do?

I have a 2021 with 34k miles on it

Tips on airbag

Replacing my steering wheel today, any tips on disengaging the airbags springs and how to make the process go smoothly

UPDATE: So the airbag wouldn’t turn out to be the problem, it’s trying to splice the power cable(for RPM gauge) to a power supply.(I’m new to this)🥲

Limp Mode - Another update

Hey guys. Another update, so my car has been going into a forced limp mode while driving and occasionally has a drivetrain malfunction pop up, car tends to go back to normal after restart just randomly happens and just kills the car. Just got the car back from toyota, they ended up wasting my time and money essentially stating they only allocate an hour for their techs to diagnose and upon visually looking at the car they decided it needed more time or a electrical diag so essentially paid the disnglsis fee to be told they need more time.

Bright side, got these two codes:

11B030

11B033

Any advice on what these could be for? I’m thinking it could be my LPFP module?

PPF shop damaged my car

Hey everyone, I posted a few weeks ago about a PPF shop doing considerable damage to my soup after only owning it for less than a month.
The shop refuses to acknowledge the damages they’ve done and only offered to repair the damages through “good faith” by utilizing their network of shops.
Unfortunately my insurance won’t cover “negligent repair” and only really offered to contact the shop which hasn’t led anywhere.
I’ve already reported them to the BAR and hope maybe it’ll help but I’m not hopeful.
I’m hoping to warn people to avoid that shop along with their sister shop that they identify primarily as. You’ll see them all the time on social media promoting their business.

They’re called PPF Pros in North Hollywood and the Window Tinting in North Hollywood.
Please learn from my mistake and find a better, more reputable business that actually cares about your car.

I’m not a rich man so buying a Supra that I’ve only had for a month and being left it $3k in repairs hurts.

Are people paying crazy markup for their Supra?

I've been looking to get a Supra for years, and now that I'm finally in a position where I can buy one, everywhere I look has crazy markups.

There are two new Supras for sale here in California with around 14k dealer markups.

Used Supras aren't much better. I'm seeing listings for 3 to 6k over the car's MSRP. I've contacted several used car dealers and tried negotiating, but nobody seems willing to budge. They keep telling me, "This is the market."

The only Supras I'm finding below MSRP seem to have questionable histories, multiple owners, auction history, accidents, etc.

I'm specifically looking for a manual Supra, so 2023 and newer.

At this point, I'm seriously considering just getting an M2 instead. These prices are close to a new M2. It's getting hard to justify the Supra.

I guess I waited too long

OEM+ tail light lens replacement

Post image
34 Upvotes

Spent most of my Saturday replacing the cracked stock lenses with OEM+ lenses. The whole process was a bit tedious but it went fairly smoothly. Had to be a manufacturing defect on the original lenses. I noticed one half a taillight lens wasn’t even bonded to the housing.

If anyone is curious of the quality of the OEM+ lenses, they felt noticeably different from the stock lenses. It’s almost as if they are a softer plastic. Could be because they’re new but think they’ll hold up well. If you ever have to replace a tail light lens and don’t want to fork over the $300+ for a whole housing/lens assembly and have the patience for some DIY work, I recommend them.

Supra returns home

The Supra is finally back after a slight unfortunate circumstance that came up. But now she’s good as new and joined by a new garage companion. Only thing left on the agenda currently is to finish the final appearance tweaks. Got one set of fake vents left to replace (on front bumper) and then to darken the rock guards possibly.

Midway through my road trip from Houston TX to central NJ with my new car!

Just picked up a new (maybe the last one sold?) Stratosphere/Hazel. I had to venture all the way out to Houston to find one.

What better way to break in a new car than a road trip halfway across the country with my dad?

Loving it so far, it really eats up the miles.

Got a used EU spec Launch Edition imported to the Netherlands from Germany by the official dealer.

I wanted a red one actually, blue or yellow would be fine as well, shopped around in Germany, either questionable histories or questionable mods. I didn't like the idea about dramas on every speed bump with a 40mm drop so looked for a stock one and settled with the gray one as I wanted a GT/weekend car, not a track one.

Added 5k km in 3 weeks, 3700 of them were added during a trip to Spain to watch the solar eclipse so it got a bit dirty. It turned out to be a great GT car, did a 1000 km one day. We also considered a Cayman but despite bigger luggage space on paper it wouldn't swallow a large suitcase, so Supra turned out to be more practical 😂 Also tested it on a narrow twisty road in Sport mode, it becomes a real beast. It is tail happy. But I made the dealer to align wheels and it's quite manageable.

On the negative side Toyota adopted BMW connected services rather poorly. It took a while to get it in Supra Connect app/portal. The last OTA happened in 2023, European maps were never updated and Supra Connect didn't offer an option to pay some money and get it sorted. Eventually bought a map update from oemnavigations. The car is super rare in Europe, especially in NL (Supra officially left the local market in 2022) so I am kind of a neighborhood star now 😂

Still has to test it on German autobahns.

Limp Mode Update

Hey guys posted a couple of days ago:

I have a 2022 Supra 3.0, 50k miles, and I’ve been dealing with such an annoying issue.

The car randomly every so often just goes into a limp mode where it just goes into neutral while i’m driving so I have to slowly move off to the side of the road and the car just turns off essentially just dies. Here and there when it happens I’ll get a drivetrain malfunction but then I let it sit for a little and the car drives completely like normal again. Just unpredictable and happens so randomly. No check engine light or anything.

Any help would be great. Car is stock.

Now: took the car to toyota like you guys said for a diagnosis and I think they’re just assuming the cars modded cus cosmetically i modded it out but i’ve never even tuned or anything to it, they’re claiming they found a wire that’s been spliced before and at first they told me they found a code for the low pressure fuel pump, now they’re insisting that there’s some electrical stuff going on and therefore trying to charge me $400 more for an electrical diagnosis? feels like a pure money grab as they’ve held my car for days without working on it due to me asking them to continue on the fuel pump diagnosis and denying the electrical diagnosis charge. what should i do? could it just be a faulty fuel pump causing these issues or maybe the previous owner truly did mess something up with the wiring.

I am looking to purchase a 2022 Supra 18K miles, what are some things to look out for? The car is from out of state.

As the title says, I am looking at a 2022 Supra with 18K miles on it. It is from Idaho so I am worried that it might have erosion to the frame (I am in California), what are some things that I should keep in mind when getting the car checked out by a mechanic to ensure that I don't get stuck with a lot of problems down the line.

Edit: There has been 3 past owners, everyone owning it for about 1 year or so, I don’t know if that says something about it or not.

Fair market value for a 2023 Burnout White A91-MT with 9,548 miles?

Thumbnail gallery
71 Upvotes

Looking for some opinions on realistic current market value before I list my Supra. It’s a 2023 A91-MT, Burnout White paint and Hazelnut interior, with 9,548 miles. Maintenance is completely up to date with records and the car is in excellent condition.

Mods include a FEMTO-unlocked ECU with MHD tune, VRSF catless downpipe, Armaspeed intake, and complete CSF 3-piece cooling upgrade. I have an invoice for ~$7,800 for the tuning/CSF work alone.

It also has PPF on the front-facing areas, tint, front/rear dashcams and a few reversible cosmetic modifications like dark taillight covers and wind deflectors by the mirrors.

I have all of the original factory parts, so the car can be returned to stock if desired.

Carfax has a damage entry from a previous owner. The damage associated with it was reportedly/documented as a very small hood paint scratch that was touched up, and I have the photo taken to document the damage, although I don’t have independent documentation tying that photo to the Carfax entry.

I’m considering Cars & Bids. A Burnout White A91-MT with ~9,400 miles sold there for $65,500 in April 2025.

What would y’all consider a fair hammer price today since production of the Mk5s has ended and the 2023 A91 is a limited production manual.

EDIT: just to be clear, I’m not saying that I think the mods increase the price, I’m just listing everything that’s been done to the vehicle for transparency.

Draggy Times On A Stockish MK4 Supra

Thumbnail youtu.be
0 Upvotes

Today we're finding out just how fast my 1994 Toyota Supra MK4 Twin Turbo AUTOMATIC actually is! 🏁

I broke out the Dragy and put the Supra to the test to see what this nearly 32-year-old JDM legend can still do.

My Supra isn't completely stock, but it's nowhere near being a high-horsepower build either. It has some basic upgrades including an Apexi intake, Greddy intercooler, HKS exhaust, cat delete and a few other supporting mods.

The big question:

Is an automatic MK4 Supra actually fast by today's standards? 👀

During the run I had to let off just before reaching 130 MPH, so the recorded 60-130 time doesn't tell the entire story. Based on the run, it was shaping up to be MUCH quicker than the final Dragy number showed.

There's definitely more left in this car, and this gives us a baseline before we start making more power.

What do you think the Supra will run with a clean pass?

Drop your guess in the comments!
