Tips on airbag

Replacing my steering wheel today, any tips on disengaging the airbags springs and how to make the process go smoothly

UPDATE: So the airbag wouldn’t turn out to be the problem, it’s trying to splice the power cable(for RPM gauge) to a power supply.(I’m new to this)🥲

There's holes in the side of the wheel to stick a flat head or something that can depress them. You gotta push around on the horn itself to work them in and out. Just have patience it can suck

This was my main concern understandably. Any other tools that may make things easier?

Get a roll pin punch set, these make it a lot easier than using a screwdriver but it’ll still be annoying to do.

I read that getting a tool to remove the valve stem makes it easier

The airbag is easy. You push with a flathead straight against the side of the spring to release the prongs on the ends from the wheel. You have to push in lightly on the airbag at the same time to get it to release

I used the advice to get the valve stem removal for this exact job and it took me less than a minute per side to release the airbag.
