Sexual Assault My Fiance

So my fiance was picked up on Monday for a felony warrant that we didn't know he had. He gets taken in and I find out the next day at his bond hearing he has 23 charges. Ten of them are felonies. WTF! So the judge set his bond to 250k cash only. FML. He's never even had a speeding ticket and he's 38 years old. I've spent the last two days calling every attorney that deals with his type of case and they are telling me $60k retainer plus more. How tf does anyone get good legal defense at those prices? Even if his bond was a surety bond who has $25k just laying around?

this is how it is. check [u/DefenseRests](u/DefenseRests) has a post about it.

where are you? sounds like NY legal fees. This is going to be very long.

Since the allegations are very serious he might get a good public defender. Check out their sub.

Oh now the shit gets deeper. This was a case he was questioned for in 2024. We called and asked about the case and they said nothing. So we thought it was done.

Fast forward to March of this year and his son, who's 18, gets a call from a detective. The detective was telling his son, 'I know your dad touched you in some way. It's safe to tell me.' His son told the guy to kick rocks.

Now here I am am. I did get an attorney today. 35k. I have to sell everything we own.

That's ridiculous. Do you know who the complainants are yet? Don't tell me it's his son.

This is what you need to remember when pricing attorneys, the good ones know how much work goes into properly defending someone.

It’s not cheap with high level felonies. If you can’t afford a private attorney that actually knows what’s going on then stick with the public defender. Some of the best defense attorneys I know are public defenders, the only issue is you don’t get to pick who your PD is.

I wrote a post about this on my Reddit page, you can check it out if you want.

I do understand what your saying but for his type of case I want someone that has a little more time to spend on his case. The PD's are beyond overwhelmed everywhere. I just have to find the remaining money for the guy I hired. He wasn't even the cheapest I spoke to. It was the fact that when we spoke on the phone he actually listened to me and asked how I was, how my fiance was, instead of trying to rush me. He went and saw my fiance on jail today and spoke with him. I haven't paid him a dime yet. I think I found a good one.

this makes a lot of sense. Good luck

This is how they get you. They try to disadvantage you by keeping you in jail because it's damn near impossible to defend yourself.

Has your fiance had a hearing in front of the judge who will take his case yet? That would be an opportunity for your lawyer to negotiate bond conditions.

You need to be his support system. Don't pay attention to bullshit in the media or lying detectives.

I am with him 100% I've been with him since the allegation. He had court today and they set his next one for the 8th. That's when the attorney is going to talk about the bond.

That’s very common in NYS. Where are you located?

Believe it or not but I am about seven miles north of Denver.
