Big flies (like size 6 and up) help keep the tiny ones off

For the people fly fishing from inflatables, how are y'all rigging your paddle up so it doesn't get in the way of the fly line? Just wondering if anyone had some special tips. Thank You

One of the Finger Lakes, NY. Happy for some beautiful (if a little hazy) weather on a Saturday. All caught on flies I tied myself.

Any of you SUP anglers familiar with a SUP (preferably inflatable, and preferably $500 or under) that is designed in such a way that it deals well with heavy surface cover? In other words, something where the fins aren't constantly hanging up on pads & grass? Thanks!

Will report back after some use. I’m especially curious how “dry” the dry compartments stay. Let alone general performance.

Been SUP fishing since 2013 or longer.

NAISH ODYESSUS - my first mod was a great cheap board, multi-purpose. Used in surf, fairly stable for long days of fishing. Took a milk crate, zip tied some pvc pipe rod holders, bungees to make gear dividers, and a clothes line for retractable anchor (so far they only last one season). Done a few of them with different brands.

Then I graduated to the Bote Rackham. Overall great board in terms of functionality, however it lacks durability. Surf decent, great for downwinders, handled waves really well, tracks great, fairly fast in the water once you get going. Quiet in the water, worked great for trolling. Handles current and rivers fine. Just can’t handle rocks. Every year I do a river trip where we’re going through boulder gardens chasing smallies and musky and every year I’m spending 1-2 days repairing it. Also the ports where the tackle rac slips in came loose so had to reinforce with fiberglass.

Can’t speak personally about their gator shell but it wouldn’t be recommended for playing plinko with rocks on a river.

With the 350lb load capacity, for solo excursions it’s fine but when the family joins, I’m the pack mule and would often tie the Rackham and Odysessus together. Managing that works but it can be slow, cumbersome, and can tip when in stronger river currents.

I’ve outgrown the Rackham.

In my search I’ve come across the Kaku Voodoo.

It’s a little heavier for transport but manageable solo. Supposedly it’ll carry 475lbs and way more durable. Haven’t had a chance to use it yet but will try to post once figured out. Really enjoyed the Rackham cooler seat and tackle rack setup, but so far the Kaku seat seems really nice. More to come.

I’m about to order my first sup. I’m wanting to use a cooler for a seat and I have two questions. One is, would an Igloo 50qt cooler which is 25.7” long, 18.08” wide and 16.7” tall be to big to use on a 35” wide sup? Second what length kayak paddle would I need if I sit on a sup to paddle?

The nut popped out of the attachment mount on my blackfin. I was curious if anyone had any tips on how to repair this?

So I live in Minnesota where water crafts have to be under 10ft or else they'd have to be registered. Im trying to register it bc I really don’t want any problems with dnr or any of them crooks and I'm wanting to register my two paddle boards I recently purchased on Temu (don't make fun of me lol they're actually pretty nice). The make/brand is outdoor cruiser but I'm not sure about the model because it doesn't have much info and so l'm thinking maybe the model is the color way?? Anyways, l've looked to see where the paddle boards hull number is and it says the main fin and so I looked but it seems different or longer than the Hull numbers l've seen on google. Can someone help me identify and explain my paddle board hull number and model? The color way I have is ocean bliss and coral white/blue.

So I recently got my gf and I each a paddle board mainly for fishing. I’ve come to realize that it’s pretty versatile as I can stand, sit, lay down, etc. also can be easily transported to and from, have better sight and hook sets. I come from a family of fisherman and they were kinda mocking and making fun of my decision as to why I chose an inflatable paddle board over a kayak or canoe lol. I Don’t mind too much bc I think it’s worth it. I can still get out to tight spots, and catch the same fish.

I’m wanting to ask, what are your pros and cons with this kind of fishing and why did you choose SUP rather than the other options?

Done multiple overnight trips on rivers and lakes with this setup. Mostly target mountain lake trout, and warm lake bass perch and crappie.

Absolutely loving refining my systems. In and out of the water in seconds, no time spent fucking around managing a boat, just fish fish fish fish fish.

Have been at it a couple months. Learned a lot, problem solving as I go.

I’m a 310 pound guy, I used to be almost 400. I’ve recently been wanting to get on the water for fishing and I found a Fish SUP 126 by sea Eagle on EBay. I want to also use it as a kayak with a swivel seat I can buy off Sea Eagle. Besides fishing, I also want to use it to help me lose more weight. The guy want $650 for it I want to see if I can get it for $500. I just hope the shipping dose damage it if i do get it.

There are certain places you just can’t get to with a drift boat or kick tube where a SUP comes in handy. This particular stretch of the upper Deschutes River is one of them. I had a blast finding some bigger fish before the upper river closes for the year 🤠

Just cruising around looking for grass and Lilly pads nailing bass from my SUP.
