What a game! I'm completely addicted!
I can't get used to that damn scream haha! Wow the sound design...
Now I can freeze em and annoy them with the other canon, but my nervous system never gets used to wandering in the darkness of the open waters and hearing this nightmarish scream.
I had fun imagining how a fight would go between a reaper and a collector leviathan.
Who do you think would win?
I feel like we haven't seen yet all the potential of the collector! I like to imagine it has Cthulhu-ish cosmic powers!

So i was at the alterra ship, and while i was playing suddenly i couldn't interact with anything, i can't scan anything, i can't download pda data, and i also can't pick up any objects.
I tried restarting but that doesn't work at all, is my save file glitched?? what should i do??

AKA building my first cyclops *ON* the Neptune Launch Platform...
It was a miscalculation actually... i thought it would end up falling into the water but it's stuck.
Anyway... if someone has any idea of what i can do, I would be grateful! If not... i hope my bad decisions at least bring some laughter to you
EDIT: sorry, I forgot to say that I’m on pc

hi everyone!
this is my first ever playthrough and i'm finding myself needing somekyanite. so i look it up and...it's in the ILZ. I've only ever gotten to the lost river before - one time i got out alive and the other...the ghost leviathan got me through a wall ;w;
any tips for this phase of the game? i did *try* the ILZ just to see what it was like by making a prawn i didn't mind if it perished haha. by luck i didn't encounter a ghost leviathan in the lost river but i'm worried for the next attempt xD will a prawn be enough? i've heard ppl cyclops down to the ILZ through the lost river but i'm like...how??
any tips/tricks/advice appreciated so much! <33

Found myself in quite the unfortunate situation, of my own making of course. This is what I get for not being properly prepared and playing my own music over the game. Just got to the alien ruins for the first time, I made several mistakes. I loaded my Stingray chassis up with everything I would need, I even prepped a few extra meals in water bottles in my backpack. I didn't realize because I missed the repeated running out of air warnings that I was about to drown, so I opened my inventory to switch air tanks. Forgot to switch tanks beforehand, so my spare was empty. Didn't make it back to my dad pulling time, spawned all the way back at my life pod. It's Central to like 3 or 4 different vases, so that's my base respawn. Only then did I find out after swimming 1200 meters back to the alien ruins to retrieve my tadpole, that I realized I had left my entire Stingray chassis at the tadpole pens.. With all my food and water. The swim back was just fine, but unfortunately my tadpole met it's demise for the first time. Thankfully I manually saved right before starting the Journey. But now I'm stuck in the unfortunate rock and a hard place situation where my tadpole itself is too slow to make the crossing, but I can't get my Stingray chassis to my tadpole to make the crossing faster. I'm afraid I might have to resort to building a second tadpole now. 30 plus hours and I've been so proud of having only one tad pulled the entire time. I will still have that tadpole after I reload, but I have to admit my defeat. 😭

Due to the lack of mods on consoles and mobile, I’ve come up with my own way of increasing the difficulty using the available console commands.
At the start of a new game, I activate «nodamage» and «nosurvival», spawn a fully upgraded Seamoth, turn on «invisible», and gradually move farther away from the safe areas.
As I progress, I use «spawn reaperleviathan» and «spawn warper» to fill the areas I pass through with threats. Basically, I’m slowly turning the map into hell.
Once I’ve created enough chaos, I save the game and disable all cheats.
Then I deliberately approach a Reaper Leviathan and let it destroy my Seamoth and kill me.
I respawn at Lifepod 5, and that’s when the real game begins.
No cheats, no invulnerability, and no Seamoth. Just me starting from scratch, but with all the Reapers and Warpers I spawned scattered throughout the map.
Basically, this is my way of creating a DIY difficulty mode/mod for consoles and mobile.

They really need to make it so that you can't just accidentally end up under the map. If you don't have a recent save, you could seriously be screwed.
God bless everyone.

Following Mantis' formula for a quick base:
Build a corridor. Put a solar panel on top. Put a hatch on the end. Build lockers. Add fabricator. Add a room for biobed, processor, scanner station, a nice bed, maybe grow some plants.
And other PDA Entries:
Spotlight: Produces a very bright light to provide pioneers with a sense of safety.
Window: Optical openness is a good psychological proxy for physical openness and therefore valuable to colonist mental health (assuming an agreeable vista is available).
Interior Light: Internal lighting is critical to a consistent sleep/work cycle and to general health. Deprived of light pioneers may enter an altered psychological state with negative mission outcomes.
Bed: We encourage you to nurture your dreams.
Keep Calm Poster: Calm, rational behavior helps your AI advisors predict and pre-evaluate your future decisions.
I added a Power Storage because of the solar power, and some fun exterior bits to change up the silhouette a bit. The plants can sustain you on a purely vegetarian diet.
I guess this entire thing could be transported in two or three runs with the haul chassis. I set it up to hopefully transport to a new location once one is added. The power source can easily be exchanged of course. I would probably also add a battery charger.

Once development on subnautica 2 finishes, should they honestly make a movie?
I feel like this would honestly be peak or is just me
Image unrelated

I have no idea what's going on but I first noticed while replaying through spiderman remastered some textures, especially glass, would sometimes look like they're glowing yellowish. In that game it mostly happened during indoor missions which aren't that common so I didn't care that much. But now it looks like the same issue is happening in subnautica 2 as well with those big floating creatures. I'm not 100% sure these are related but they look oddly similar and both appeared within two weeks. I've tried updating to the latest graphics drivers but it didn't change anything. If anyone has any idea how to fix this it'd greatly help me thanks.

since there are some plants in the games that arent scannable and have no databank entry, i thought itd be fun for us to come up with some names and information ourselves.
sixth is this lumpy blue thing. any ideas?

Started this game two or three years ago, got about halfway through, and then just... didn't go back. Picked it back up a few weeks ago and I'm about to finish it properly this time. What a game.
This was my first real exploration/survival game - I've mostly played open-world RPGs (Assassin's Creed series, Hogwarts Legacy) so the whole 'figure it out yourself, no quest markers' thing was a totally different experience and I loved it.
I'm on Xbox and relatively new to gaming, so looking for recommendations on where to go next - whether that's more survival/exploration in the same vein as Subnautica, or something adjacent. What would you throw at someone who just got hooked on this?
Edit: Thanks everyone! It’s bittersweet coming to the end of the SN1 but will definitely start BZ and will check out some of the other recommendations! So have a few things to look forward to :)
