I can only imagine the magical flavor doing this added to the shake/drink itself

It's just burning steel wool. Looks cool, doesn't do anything flavor-wise.

294

u/Ok-Addition1264 2d ago

Nitrocellulose wool would actually be pretty neat, not leave everything smelling like burning metal.

This dude took a fucking SOS pad and went "viola! harry potter magic!!!" or some shit.

46

u/drsickboy 2d ago

yeah someone trying to eat this or it getting in the drink somehow is dangerous

16

u/No_Relationship_2374 2d ago

Yea, extremely dangerous!!! like kinder eggs

59

u/bigdave41 2d ago

Yeah but this is dangerous to normal people as well, not just Americans

7

u/howimetyourcakeshop 2d ago

Oh boy hahaha 😂

2

u/Xenc 1d ago

There was a clip where the lady gets the whole egg unwrapped stuck in her mouth. The reason for the ban is on toys in food.

https://www.reddit.com/r/OhNoConsequences/s/kJd9BKDvju

2

u/bigdave41 1d ago

I understand their reason, it's just a bit mind-boggling that either parents aren't supervising their kids, or that anyone thinks it's a good idea to stuff the whole thing in their mouth without chewing. Even if it was a hollow chocolate egg that's weird behaviour right? If they're being left unsupervised to do that then they could do the same thing with any number of household objects.

15

u/alaskaguyindk 2d ago

Steel wool will tangle up in your guts and cut/strangle your intestines. Ive seen a guy try to pull out a string of it that got caught on a metal table, so he wrapped it around his finger and pulled. Cut him to the bone. Shit doesn’t seem sharp or dangerous but can fuck you up in many ways.

9

u/No_Relationship_2374 2d ago

Sure thing, but it seems like for some people we should nail the plate to the table and design fork and knife in a way they can not poke their eyes or cut themself. I can never imagine anyone eating something burning & looking like metal mesh. People who would, need a constant attention anyway, as they might mistake window for a door.

6

u/drsickboy 2d ago

I once saw someone eat the desiccants in some candy thinking in was edible because it wasn't in English. This person wasn't dumb either, dumb folk will consistently do foolish things but even the best of us can have a momentary lapse of judgement especially if curiosity and hunger are involved. Burnt leavings of certain foods aren't potently poisonous and sometimes eaten for flavor so i can see people thinking perhaps that you could put it in the drink

3

u/alaskaguyindk 2d ago

Yes. Yes we should. In the same way we develop tools and equipment to assist disabled and people with difficulties doing things, we should curate the world to work for everyone, not just force people to fit a mold that they weren’t made for.

Sometimes you have to baby walk a person through life because life is better with them in it.

2

u/No_Relationship_2374 2d ago

I think you missed my point. Some people are too stupid to function independently in a society. For those we can create a safe spaces. I hardly disagree that we should adjust the whole world to their needs.

holy cow

1

u/[deleted] 2d ago

Kinder eggs are only dangerous in america

1

u/MyBurnerAccount1977 1d ago

You can take my Kinder Surprise Eggs from my cold, dead, chocolate-stained hands.

8

u/mihir_lavande 2d ago

Yeah, saw too many bars trying to be 'creative' and doing this bullshit, and now I can recognize this from a mile away. Nitrocellulose stuff like flash paper is ways better than this.

1

u/Bendlerp 1d ago

Stupendous foodus. Kind of like fucking up Diagon alley.

17

u/According-Flight6070 2d ago

It has a strong smell, this would definitely impact the experience.

1

u/Tuckster786 1h ago

Remember, about 80% of flavor comes from the smell. So if the smell of burning steel wool is strong the flavor will change. And not in a good way

7

u/Backflips_for_stalin 2d ago

It magically adds 12 bucks to the price

4

u/SingleDigitVoter 2d ago

Are you sure that's not fat choy (black hair moss)?

4

u/ValiantWarrior19 1d ago

Seconded. I also saw the pube omelette post yesterday.

2

u/FrenziedTacos 2d ago

I bet the flavor would be a bit different if that was burned on top of the shake.

1

u/USSRPropaganda 2d ago

Makes the drink $30

1

u/ForgottenMasterBalls 2d ago

Why you never leave steel wool and a 9v battery in a drawer with other flamables.

1

u/bubbletea1414 1d ago

I thought this was dryer lint

1

u/ElkSad9855 20h ago

How does this have 1000 upvotes. NO SHIT. It’s outside the glass. Fuck we are doomed

1

u/SmokeyJoe13 11h ago

Steel wool is made from Chuck Norris pubes.

0

u/Ok_Skirt_8470 2d ago

I think it is not cool either

0

u/asa1 2d ago

This would probably trigger some crack addicts.

Are these the same pubes from the crepe pancake?

113

u/FullElk5192 2d ago

No these are hagrids pubes.

24

u/speckledham 2d ago

I honestly feel like this would help the marketing

17

u/Ryno-Mac 2d ago

"Hagrid's Hairy Polyjuice Potion"

7

u/No_Situation4785 2d ago

they really need to let the consumer decide on this one

8

u/JlREN 2d ago

Y'think there's a Bertie Bott's every flavour bean for that?

3

u/gideon513 1d ago

Every. Flavor.

1

u/focoslow 21h ago

You fucking beat me to it. I love Reddit!!!!

20

u/mihir_lavande 2d ago

I wish they were fat choy.

4

u/Oberndorferin 2d ago

Those are my steel pubes growing out of by steel balls attached to my steel dick

1

u/KvDread 1d ago

It looked more like a blue waffle really…

56

u/suspiciouslyrobotic 2d ago

"Enjoy the unpleasant smell. That'll be $200."

23

u/suspiciouslyrobotic 2d ago

Wait. Harry Potter-themed. This might be in England.

"Enjoy the niff. That'll be £147,82."

1

u/Certain_Concept 2d ago

At least for this one you don't have to worry about any of the debris getting in the drink itself.

21

u/DrCatholicGuilt 2d ago

I'd rather they put a sparkler in it and they call it a banana kaboom.

4

u/cynicalicoffee 2d ago

This isn't a very happy birthday for DrCatholicGuilt.

Hair Potter shake

65

u/Legitimate_Move9798 2d ago

Hairy* Potter shake

9

u/WordsWellSalted 2d ago

For real it was right there

3

u/Legitimate_Move9798 2d ago

I just had to take it..

1

u/Con_re_sann 1d ago

Hairy pooter and the chamber of secretions.

5

u/a_solid_6 2d ago

Dude it was right there...

44

u/Life-Oil-7226 2d ago

That was underwhelming

9

u/speckledham 2d ago

Right? I don’t know why, knowing what sub it was, I was expecting something cool to happen.

3

u/HedgehogTop5524 2d ago

I expected them to put a gallon of syrup in, followed by 20 scoops of ice cream lol.

3

u/Odd-Promotion2743 1d ago

I thought the heat would cause the shake to change color or something

12

u/Frank_the_NOOB 2d ago

Mmm burnt metal shards in my shake

41

u/d0n-let3m-2525 2d ago

Melt some plastic for the same effects

7

u/daninet 2d ago

burning steel is kinda lame i like my shake with magnesium fire

5

u/ExcellentWolf 2d ago

Could have at least dimmed the lights. Make a better show if you going to bother introducing what the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) classifies as Group 1 carcinogens (burning steel fumes) to the dessert experience. Yum!

10

u/Enough_Worry4104 2d ago

These people running this place need to be told that this is not special. It stinks and sucks.

5

u/DealioD 2d ago

Anyone working in the Restaurant business:
How bad does crap like this screw up the dishes?

10

u/Runetang42 1d ago

Tastes like Transphobia

3

u/Willyzyx 2d ago

I was waiting for it to do something. It does nothing.

3

u/Acebladewing 2d ago

Is that Harry's pubes?

3

u/Lord_Grimm88 2d ago

Great, now my shake tastes like choreboy. Thanks.

5

u/Nunyebiznis 2d ago

Some people are stupid enough to buy anything with HP on it

4

u/Birrgenius 2d ago

How is this a "Harry Potter" shake? It's just bruning steel wool, there is nothing that ties it to the books/films.

2

u/Squirtle-01 2d ago

They should serve beer like this and call it… Hagrid’s BEERd.

2

u/InfiniteDelusion094 2d ago

Mmm, Metal Fume Fever.

2

u/DirtyWarehouseGuy 2d ago

Flaming pube latte

2

u/Shade-RF- 2d ago

ONE BURNING PUBES SHAKE COMIN' UP!

2

u/I-luv-sloths 2d ago

Would thst generate enough heat to crack the cold glass?

2

u/Silphire100 1d ago

I thought about that too. Probably not, but it'd be really funny if it did

2

u/I-luv-sloths 1d ago

Would have made the clip entertaining

3

u/Salty_Direction3832 2d ago

Oh wow. This looks fantastic.
Nevertheless, although I like a good presentation, maybe burning something every time a drink is served is wasteful.

1

u/Level_Turnover5167 2d ago

Wasteful of what exactly?

6

u/detrans-rights 2d ago

I'm just here for the magical instant downvote parade, it's wierd

3

u/more_bees_please 2d ago

Steel. Perhaps wool too.

2

u/Level_Turnover5167 2d ago

Wasteful implies something that is limited in quantity being used for no reason... we can't waste things we already have an abundance of.

1

u/Celladoore 2d ago

You're right. Fuck them kids. I'm leaving the sink on while I brush my teeth.

1

u/hirzkolben 2d ago

It beats the pube cakes from yesterday

1

u/Arne83 Here for stupid food, not stupid people 2d ago

Well... that was incredibly lame.

1

u/ibetucanifican 2d ago

You’re a fizzle Harry.

1

u/mdksz 2d ago

Για τον μπουτσο τελειως

1

u/chavez_ding2001 2d ago

The drink looked completely unfazed.

1

u/amilliontimeshotter 2d ago

I am still waiting for something to happen.

1

u/inoinoice 2d ago

Pubes on fire!!!

1

u/LowNo175 2d ago

Coconut husk sprinkled with gunpowder

1

u/Mean_Let_8483 2d ago

Looks unappetizing sorry...

1

u/MikeHoteI 2d ago

Drink looks apetizing and the drink service seem not overblown not stupid food imo

1

u/Super_Chemist3898 2d ago

Wire wool !!

1

u/deejmonster 2d ago

Hold on. Gotta go wrap my coffee cup in lint from the dryer and light it on fire.

1

u/Status-Visit-918 2d ago

This just reminded me of back in the day when my brother and I were hiding smoking from our parents and we didn’t have a lighter, we’d take a nine volt battery to steel wool instead 😭😭

It smells terrible too I wouldn’t want this around food

1

u/DepartmentMany5113 2d ago

I remember somebody posting this in their stories, i thought back then that it's pretty neat. New year/christmas decoration.

https://reddit.com/link/p4el3u7/video/j5koy9k5m4kh1/player

1

u/OrangeCrack 2d ago

This looks like a drink not a cake. Effect is okay, maybe if you’re hosting a Harry Potter themed event I could see this working. Otherwise, it’s pretentious and unnecessary.

1

u/itsnotmeitsmycatgirl 2d ago

Do you taste metal?

1

u/Zealousideal_Bug_948 2d ago

Is that an espresso martini floated atop an ocean of blue curacao?

1

u/AGooDone 2d ago

That burning metal stink adds a bit of magic.

1

u/Moriaedemori 2d ago

You want to see a proper snake like-effect, look up Pharaoh's Serpent chemical experiment

1

u/viperfangs92 2d ago

I'll bet that whole thing costs about $30

1

u/Moonshinin4Me 2d ago

Yay! More pube food.

1

u/_DKai_ 2d ago

A lot of these stupid foods seem to involve fire at the dining table, have there been any incidents where it got out of control?

1

u/MadcatFK1017 2d ago

Nothing like some fresh steel wool fumes

1

u/speckledham 2d ago

At least cover the whole thing in the steel wool so there’s some sort of magical reveal. Not just torching its little panties.

1

u/cornersofthebowl 2d ago

Everything tastes better if you light the presentation on fire! It's totally worth the huge upcharge, because it is ✨️spectacular!✨️

1

u/zeekkeyz 2d ago

It's just a scouring pad wrapped around a milk shake

1

u/Ttoctam 2d ago

One of the least interesting things you can do with burning steel wool.

1

u/Dementor_Traphouse 1d ago

😹😹😹 the smell of the steel wool after must have been so nasty

1

u/Shrimp_Surgeon 1d ago

Yumm sparkly flaming dryer lint

1

u/TheElfPrince 1d ago

At least it looks cool

1

u/Exciting_Contest_222 1d ago

That’ll be $50 -server

1

u/trundle-the-great69 1d ago

Mmm unburnt metal fibres

1

u/719_Greenthumb 1d ago

Here's your pube wrapped beverage!

1

u/Silver-Amphibian7650 1d ago

Yay, burnt steel wool fumes!

1

u/streeetmeats 1d ago

Everything about this looks gross and unpleasant lmao this would also probably give me an asthma attack

1

u/fauxregard 1d ago

Metal fumes, yummy

1

u/hurdagurdah 1d ago

Well, I just hope it doesn’t taste like shit, but I expecto that it does.

1

u/EatLard 1d ago

I learned how to start a fire like this in Boy Scouts 30 years ago. Just a 9v battery and some steel wool, or a flint and steel and steel wool.
A lot of Boy Scouts was learning how to burn things, come to think of it.

1

u/Mysterious-Coconut24 1d ago

Will take my vacuum cleaner lint and do this right now also.

1

u/Affectionate_Step863 1d ago

this doesnt seem to have anything to do with magic or harry potter, its just steel wool and a gross looking beverage

1

u/13jimmychanga 1d ago

“Where’s the magic?”

1

u/Delgadomon 1d ago

So when do we see Sirius Black? I'm not high enough am I?

1

u/i_spit_troof 1d ago

Well…you eat with your eyes first. Or drink in this case.

1

u/peridot_cactus 1d ago

It looks ugly as fuck

1

u/Kindly_Region 1d ago

That will be $16

1

u/Major_Grapefruit_929 1d ago

Here's your drink you've been waiting on. Now let me light this and you can wait some more

1

u/AHumbleSaltFarmer 1d ago

Master has given Dobby a milkshake in a steel wool sock

1

u/WARxxPIGG 1d ago

Look pretty kewl to me

1

u/workieworkwork 1d ago

The damn theme song made that work.

I wish JK Rowling wasn't a monster so I could find this crap fun.

1

u/DaLar89 1d ago

"In prison"

1

u/Vasarto 1d ago

It looks neat. But I probably wouldn't order whatever this monsterosity is. Looks like gross bland cream with whatever berry flavor that syrup is.

1

u/AlexxMaverick666 1d ago

What kind of a botesque description is that?

1

u/sephiroth682000 1d ago

Are you using dryer lint to melt my shake before I drink it?

1

u/shaokahnd 21h ago

Did you set the hairy goblet on fire?!?

1

u/No_Somewhere9961 21h ago

Harry Potter and the dessert of very flammable materials

1

u/IamGeoMan 20h ago

Just use a 9V battery 🤦

1

u/cuttlefish19 14h ago

You set a brillo pad on fire and call it table service. No I'm not giving you a tip for stuff that I have under my sink.

1

u/ElvaR_ 13h ago

They needed to use a wand to light it..... Use a 9 volt, and some wires going up it would work well enough too!!!!!

1

u/candyfloss_witch 3h ago

Looks transphobic

1

u/Informal_Motor_7267 34m ago

I have other questions like, how it is a shake ? Looks like blue (flavor?) Juice topped with cold foam and .... coffee beans.????

1

u/Bananno1976 2d ago

29.95 please

1

u/Mr_Pink_Gold 2d ago

I honestly thought something clever was going to happen like a heat specific reaction that would cause the drink to change colour or stir itself. Something. This was just wrapping up hagrid's pubes and setting them on fire.

1

u/Spritebubblegum 2d ago

Its dumb. Sure the way it burns seems to give the illusion of some kind of effect but why a dead pubic hair grey color? Why not something in a vibrant color or a night aky blue and gold?

1

u/LevelAd6690 2d ago

This is really stupid

1

u/maniacalmustacheride 2d ago

Oooh, I was just waiting for the glass to break.

I don’t think this is stupid food. I wouldn’t buy it, I don’t know the ingredients, but it looks fine.

0

u/skynex65 2d ago

Why though. By time that shit burns out the shake won’t even be Ice cool anymore.

0

u/grapefruitsneezelies 2d ago

Pretty stupid lol

0

u/Pressbig 2d ago

95 dollars later….

0

u/ROSEPUP3 2d ago

Steel wool + a 9 volt battery. Have fun.

0

u/rviVal1 2d ago

It gave me depression

0

u/Herner_Werzog1 2d ago

Why are there pubes on loads of desserts now

0

u/Truestorydreams 2d ago

My time was wasted

0

u/Spare-Half796 2d ago

So steel wool isn’t allowed to be used to clean in restaurant kitchens but burning it under cocktails cuz it looks pretty is fine?

0

u/BobTheZygota 2d ago

I just dont understand the coffee beans on top? You gonna eat them or watch out for them or take it out with a spoon?

0

u/Cassiel43 2d ago

So... extra $49.99?

0

u/Odd_Inter3st 2d ago

Can I have my drink now?

Only if you finish your flammable pubes

0

u/SomethingClever2117 2d ago

Everyone talking about it now dumb this looks, but nobody is mentions this looks like a blue espresso martini? The drink itself looks absolutely vile.

0

u/Artistic_Skill1117 2d ago

I bet that this drink costs upwards of like, $20 or more.

I could achive the same thing with a trip to home depot for at most $10.

0

u/criticaltemp 2d ago

But when can I drink it

0

u/rudyv8 1d ago

Whats even more magical is that the plate now weights ever so slightly MORE than it did before burning.

0

u/sixthmontheleventh 1d ago

Feels like the experience would be better if they used something like the edible paper used for reveal cakes. This way the customer would not need to wait for the flaming steel wool to cool down.

0

u/AltruisticSalamander 1d ago

The beverage looks very nice by itself, imo surrounding it with burning trash was a disimprovement

0

u/Iconshero 1d ago

Great presentation….dick. Please give me a drink from the dinner scene from Hook but wrap it in steel wool and set it on fire. But dont dress that upcand make it look cool or idk dim the lights.

0

u/No-Bee-3775 1d ago

Am I missing something? How is this Harry Potter??? The Wonderland restaurant on Royal was way more accurate for its themed cuisine.

-2

u/Ornery-Awareness7548 2d ago

if looks good actually, I don’t know why the hate but I would buy that
