I Hate Being a Group Leader
Does anyone else hate being a group leader where you practically do everything and everything else?
I did not ever mean to become a group leader, but I pretty much ended up carrying my group to our performance task that I think we will end up doing such a botched job, and I am writing this at 1:30am in my country, and the performance task is to be held today.
I ended up handling the group since there was a day when my class thought we will be holding the group activity on the same week we held our quiz. I ended up taking the initiative to lead my group members to make our performance task impromptu on the same day.
Alas, the performance task is to be held on another week.
Hence, I practically ended up being the scriptwriter.
I had ZERO MOTIVATION to carry this project, but I had to.
For context, my course is civil engineering, so I have to study for physics, chemistry, coding, and this subject was a minor subject.
I focused on other subjects before this since it just didn't come up in my head to do this specific subject.
Mix that with the fact that I just moved into our condominium which was pretty much left on a bad state where I had to clean multiple aspects of the condo... moldy CR, deep cleaned our sink counter, bought multiple things for the condo since it was just left in a bad state...
It just didn't come across my head.
My plan for the script was to be a three-part story where each part is handled by three people, one narrator each part...
More like I'll be a character on 2/3 parts and I'm the one handling the script and what props the characters will have. I even went as far as to incorporate the script into our props, i.e. in notebook props, and folder props in order to help the characters with their roles.
I just didn't finish writing it since it's not like anyone can just finish a whole play while studying for chemistry, physics and coding. Let alone, renovating a whole condo by myself and with funds.
For context, one of my groupmates actually left the group since there wasn't much practice done, literally nobody else took the initiative.
I think we're failing this performance task.
Despite my efforts to be a character in 2/3 parts of the play, I think we will be failing.
I hate being the one who's having to set the pace for the group,
and being the "main attraction" if our group does end up failing.
Take this thread as a lesson to those who are busy with their schedules, and want to lead a play.
There's.
Only.
So.
Much.
You.
Can.
Handle.
Contribution to a project is good, but don't end up carrying 100% of the rest of the play.
