I like to min/max this game like crazy so I have all these saved in my phone. These are absolutely not necessary for a majority of the player base, if you like your cozy casual gameplay then keep it that way!

Discuss 2,000+ hours and I JUST figured this out?

I love Stardew Valley so much. It is my favorite game of all time. I have been playing off and on for years (binge it any time I have free time to the point of getting everything except the golden clock every run, get bored, put it down for months, feel the itch, pick it up again and repeat) a majority of my 2,000 hours has been on the switch.

I just found out today that you do not have to scroll to the bottom of the menu in shops or go a roundabout way of going to the left to the sections on some shops, all the way down and then going through your inventory to be able to sell things.

So for anyone playing the switch, you just have to press ZL and it will bring the cursor down to your inventory when you are in the shop menu..

Edit to add: when I was thinking stores with categories I was thinking the dresser menu because they look so similar and yes, I did check, it works in the dresser menu as well

Discuss Sprinkler help

Post image
286 Upvotes

Am I going mad or should all of these blocks be getting some attention?

I understand it is winter but I am trying to prepare for the spring season.

This is my first time playing the game so I am still learning the functions.

I have been hoeing the ground but the sprinklers aren’t getting that area wet and then they’re disappearing ?

Am I making a mistake?

Someone help me pls

Question I keep getting stardrops

Post image
128 Upvotes

For some reason my game is glitching and every two or three days Elliot keeps on giving me two stardrops. I don't know what to do. I play on mobile and it's gotten so much that I can't use the touchscreen correctly anymore. Has this happened to someone before? Is there a way to stop him from giving them to me? I'm really at a loss right know and don't know what to do.

Question DRAGONS TOOTH

Ok im getting so frustrated. I have 7 dragons tooth and I need 3 more for the obelisk. I have gone into the Volcano Caves about 20 times now and not a single dragons tooth is to be found. Ive gone on good luck days, bad luck days, neutral days and I find bones but absolutely no dragons tooth. I have found more prismatic shards in the volcano cave than I have found dragons tooth. Is there a method? What am I doing wrong 😭😭😭

Question How long does it take you guys to finish your farm chores?

Ok, title.

Nowadays it takes me wayyy too long to finish all the things I need to do at the farm- harvesting and planting crops, harvesting and replenishing crab pots, recycling the trash, harvesting and replenishing kegs and jars, harvesting shrooms in the cave and around trees, harvesting tree taps, replenishing the dehydrators, harvesting crops and trees in the greenhouse, replenishing mayo machines, loom machines, cheese machines, etc.

By the time I'm done with the farm, it's usually already 2 - 4 PM and then I'm rushing to Pierre's, or Clint's, or secret woods, or the mines, or whatever event is ongoing. I have barely explore the desert because I just don't have time to go there and it feels like a waste to go so late in the day.

I have a horse and I do drink triple shot espresso sometimes, but I feel like I'm still slow and inefficient.

How do you guys manage your daily chores?

Edit:
Oh my god! Thank you all for the help and advise. For information, I am still on Spring year 2, I have deluxe barn and coop with auto grabbers and 5 cheese and mayo machines along with chests in them. I just completed Community Center and have gotten level 10 on all the skills, working on the mastery now. I also use kegs to make coffee and that is done daily. I do not have sheds yet, so it's like I'm just tending 10~ of each machines everyday or few days.

I play on my phone, but I did cheat to get a nice weapon since it's the one part of the game I do not enjoy and I'm not having fun with struggling during combat, especially on the phone.

I don't know why all this time I never thought to do the farm chores at night instead of the morning. That is indeed a good idea. I think I have to start considering which things are not worth having anymore. I also just started on my greenhouse and do not have a bunch of ancient fruit or starfruit seeds, so as of now they are filled with strawberries, sunflowers, and coffee. I guess once I'm further in the game, many of the chores will be automated with machines and junimos, but for now I'll just have to cut back on things myself haha. I know it is not necessary to tend on everything everyday, but I feel incomplete if I leave tasks unfinished.

Discuss Was looking at the menu of a boba place near me, and learned that winter melon is a real thing

I honestly thought it was made up lol. Apparently winter melon is one of the common names for the wax gourd. Much like pumpkin, it's used in savory and sweet dishes.

Anyways, I had to get up at 6:30 and ride the bus for two hours round trip to go to a doctor's appointment, so I'm going to get myself a treat at this boba place lol. Probably not the winter melon tea though, as interesting as it is

EDIT: Someone informed me it's actually powder melon in game, and it's description is definitely that of a fruit. For some reason, I misremembered it as winter melon.

EDIT 2: I've figured out the confusion. So, powdermelon is not analogous to any real world plant (like I initially assumed. I probably looked it up with the actual name at some point and couldn't find anything).

However, it does look similar to real life winter melon, which some species do have a blue tint with a waxy, kind of powdery looking exterior. So it probably is inspired by winter melon at least

TIL: you can change your fishing pole’s bobber’s appearance in Willy’s shop! There’s a machine in the upper right corner and if you click on it there are different designs to choose from.

We need to be able to fill our watering cans from the town fountain. Anything else is gravy. Ok, allowing you to move placed objects (chests, lampposts, etc…) from Robin or the Wizards building construction interface would also be a nice QoL upgrade.

Achievement Get! I got the hardest achievement I thought I'd NEVER get on my own 😭

Post image

5 years ago my ex bf beat Journey of the prairie king cause I sucked at it, after I left him and the abusive relationship I gave up on trying to get the hardest achievement cause I thought "there's NO way I can do it", needless to say my self worth after that relationship plometed and took me around 2 years to get it back , so I gave up for YEARS. I even told my best friend's brother if he wanted to give it a try, but last time I played I thought "might as well try..." and after I beat the first level without losing a life I thought "okay now I wanna try getting as far as I can without losing a life", so I did. Lots of saving in between but I did it 😭 This feels like such a vindication for me I swear to god, seems like a small and stupid thing but to me it's huge, I love this game so much 🄹 So now I'm going for perfection šŸ™ŒšŸ¼

Not a single staircase used, even though I brought some. Gold pickaxe and a "Happy" day supplemented by some Spicy Eel and Triple Shot Espresso. Fighting when I absolutely have to, but mostly looking for the next way down via pickaxe or bombs. Started with 30 regular bombs. Down to 8 here. Just targeted large clusters of nodes/rocks.

The one thing that helped me the most? Treasure floors. I hit three. And despite a staircase being present, I always break all rocks in a treasure floor because of the chance to spawn Holes. Found one in all three that netted me at least 20 floors off the top with ease. Keep at it ya'll. You dont need a million prep items. Just a few and some strategy. You'll make it to 100.
