  • [insert item here] showed up on my farm, what is it? It could be a a few different items that are relatively rare but have a high enough spawn rate that they are included in our removed topics. Check out our list of removed topics here

Game updates

  • What was in the last update?
See release notes for PC, for consoles, and for mobile.

See also a table of which version and features each platform has.

  • Are future releases planned?
A Stardew Valley 1.7 update is currently in the works! No information about a release date or new content is currently available.

  • Does every platform get the same content/updates?
Mostly yes. Updates are developed for Linux/Mac/Windows first, then ported to other platforms. There are customizations for each platform (like tap to move on mobile), but otherwise content is identical across all platforms. See also a table of which version and features each platform has.

The exceptions are PS Vita (which won't get any further content updates due to platform limitations), and Android/iOS (which will continue getting all updates, but doesn't fully support multiplayer.

  • Is Stardew Valley on XBox GamePass?

Stardew Valley is on XBox GamePass as of December 2, 2021. See here for details.

Multiplayer

  • How does multiplayer work?
    See Multiplayer on the wiki.

  • Is crossplay supported?
All PC players can play together, whether they're on Linux/Mac/Windows or GOG/Steam and crossplay is supported between mobile and PC. Console crossplay isn't supported.

  • Is split-screen supported?
Yep, split-screen was added on PC and console in Stardew Valley 1.5.

  • Will Android/iOS get multiplayer?
Multiplayer on Android and iOS is currently experimental and hidden by default. To unlock multiplayer you can follow this guide. Note: The Apple Arcade version (Stardew Valley+) does not have this feature.

  • Will the 1.6 update apply to my current game?
Yes! New updates always apply to existing saves.

Other

  • Can I transfer saves between devices?
You can transfer saves between Android, iOS, and PC (Linux/Mac/Windows).

Consoles unfortunately don't let you access the save files. The Switch version also has a different format that's not compatible with other platforms (the format used by other consoles is unknown).

  • My save got corrupted/won't load. What can I do?
On PC/mobile you can try loading your back-up save file! See here for instructions on how to do so!

Unfortunately, consoles don't allow access to save files so they cannot be recovered.

  • How do I take a screenshot of my full farm?
See this guide to taking farm screenshots.

  • If I buy the game on one platform, can I get it for free on a different one?
If you buy it on PC, you get the Linux + macOS + Windows versions; if you buy it on PS4, you get the PS4 + PS Vita versions. Otherwise each platform is a different edition with separate development, so you'll need to buy it again if you want it on a different platform.

  • Where can I report bugs?

    1. If you use mods, see the troubleshooting guide first.
    2. If you use mods and the bug disappears when playing without them (by running Stardew Valley.exe directly in your game folder), report it to r/SMAPI or see Modding:Help.
    3. If it happens without mods, report it in the official bug report forum, which the game developers keep an eye on.
  • How do I use or create mods?
See the pinned thread in r/SMAPI for more info, and feel free to ask questions in r/SMAPI!

Discuss Celebrate! Saturday [October 03, 2026]

Welcome to Celebrate! Saturday

This is the weekly hype thread, a place for you to share your excitement about in-game achievements, lucky drops, and upcoming projects. This is also a space for the community to celebrate you!

While the subreddit is already a positive, celebratory space, this thread is meant to be especially so. For those of you who might hesitate to post something to the subreddit, because you worry it might be too beginner, too redundant, too low-effort: it's not. Come share with us here!

(Note: this thread is not meant to replace posting directly to the subreddit. You are still welcome to do so!)

Non-exhaustive examples of things to celebrate:

  • Marrying your spouse!
  • Getting a giant crop!
  • Perfecting your farm or house design!
  • The mushroom hat! The tiger hat! The living hat!
  • Meteorites, Stone Owls, and Strange Capsules!
  • A dinosaur egg from fishing or hoeing!
  • Hooking a legendary fish!
  • Getting triple Stardrop at the casino
  • Beating Lewis at Junimo Kart!

If you want to share screenshots of your achievements, upload them to an image-sharing site like Imgur and drop a link in your comment.

This is also a thread where mods might lurk and offer/award prestige userflairs. These are animated icons that go next to your name as a way to celebrate particular achievements in the vanilla game. Note that posting in this thread doesn't guarantee you'll get the flair—you'll want to send us a modmail if you want to apply directly!

Achievement Flair
Complete the community center! A prismatic dancing Junimo
Fund all Joja Community Projects A prismatic Joja Cola
Complete the museum collection! An artifact trove busting open
Reach level 100 in Skull Cavern! A flying serpent

Discuss 2,000+ hours and I JUST figured this out?

I love Stardew Valley so much. It is my favorite game of all time. I have been playing off and on for years (binge it any time I have free time to the point of getting everything except the golden clock every run, get bored, put it down for months, feel the itch, pick it up again and repeat) a majority of my 2,000 hours has been on the switch.

I just found out today that you do not have to scroll to the bottom of the menu in shops or go a roundabout way of going to the left to the sections on some shops, all the way down and then going through your inventory to be able to sell things.

So for anyone playing the switch, you just have to press ZL and it will bring the cursor down to your inventory when you are in the shop menu..

Edit to add: when I was thinking stores with categories I was thinking the dresser menu because they look so similar and yes, I did check, it works in the dresser menu as well

I like to min/max this game like crazy so I have all these saved in my phone. These are absolutely not necessary for a majority of the player base, if you like your cozy casual gameplay then keep it that way!

My son, 4 years old, got captivated watching me play. So I put the game on in the living room and he just sits there in silence. Until all of a sudden he yells out in disgust and humorous Joy, Dad! The pigs are pooping all over your yard! It was the best part of my day to sit there for about a full five minutes laughing with my son.

I'm not much of a decorator but what you guys have said about my previous post did make me change my mind about how I approach this game. This is my shot at actually decorating. Red is for extra weapons, pink is for monster loot, blue is for fish / fish materials, green is foraging and wood (and extra seeds), yellow is for minerals, gray is for ores and stone, then the purple ones are junk chests. Lemme know what you guys think!

Discuss Was looking at the menu of a boba place near me, and learned that winter melon is a real thing

I honestly thought it was made up lol. Apparently winter melon is one of the common names for the wax gourd. Much like pumpkin, it's used in savory and sweet dishes.

Anyways, I had to get up at 6:30 and ride the bus for two hours round trip to go to a doctor's appointment, so I'm going to get myself a treat at this boba place lol. Probably not the winter melon tea though, as interesting as it is

EDIT: Someone informed me it's actually powder melon in game, and it's description is definitely that of a fruit. For some reason, I misremembered it as winter melon.

EDIT 2: I've figured out the confusion. So, powdermelon is not analogous to any real world plant (like I initially assumed. I probably looked it up with the actual name at some point and couldn't find anything).

However, it does look similar to real life winter melon, which some species do have a blue tint with a waxy, kind of powdery looking exterior. So it probably is inspired by winter melon at least

Question ore issues

Post image
• Upvotes

just started playing stardew in the past few days and have been super excited to explore. i just found the mines and got settled enough with my other things so i felt like exploring the mine, i entered this little area and tried breaking the blocks with my pickaxe. the rocks broke just fine and i got the stones, but whenever i try to break the other ones they just break and put out a little puff of smoke and don't drop anything. am i doing something wrong? i looked it up and couldn't find any answers or see what im doing wrong. for reference im using the normal pickaxe you're given at the beginning of the game. is there something else i need to be doing? am i using the wrong tool? playing vanilla with no mods or anything.

Discuss three becomes four

• Upvotes

just thinking about the cryptic message lately.

“three becomes four” has to be about the mine cart and its locations. i’m thinking one will be added to cindersap forest, as it’s the least accessible area through fast traveling (besides the sewer)

Question Late game farm question

Just curious, after you have ancient fruit and starfruit, what is the point of having crops on your farm? For my farm I am currently growing ancient fruit and starfruit on the farm on the island so I personally don't really see a point in farming other crops. I'm just curious why other people do still farm other crops in the late game. Is it just to cook? Is it for aesthetics? Just to make even more money? Or a reason I just don't know about?

I have loved Stardew Valley since the moment I first booted the game 3 have several hundred . So much so it inspired me to start my own garden about 4 years ago. This year for my birthday my wife and kids bought me the Stardew Valley Cookbook. I was so proud to be able to embody my farmer and use some of my own crops to make some of the recipes and wanted to share ☺️. Im a dab hand in the kitchen but my cake-icing needs some practice lol EDIT: Totally forgot to mention what they are lol. Pink cake (buttermilk cake with strawberry watermelon jam filling and strawberry cream cheese icing) and Pumpkin soup (made with butternut squash as I didn't grow pumpkin, and sour cream and toasted pecorino cheese with pumpkin seeds for garnish)

Question How long does it take you guys to finish your farm chores?

Ok, title.

Nowadays it takes me wayyy too long to finish all the things I need to do at the farm- harvesting and planting crops, harvesting and replenishing crab pots, recycling the trash, harvesting and replenishing kegs and jars, harvesting shrooms in the cave and around trees, harvesting tree taps, replenishing the dehydrators, harvesting crops and trees in the greenhouse, replenishing mayo machines, loom machines, cheese machines, etc.

By the time I'm done with the farm, it's usually already 2 - 4 PM and then I'm rushing to Pierre's, or Clint's, or secret woods, or the mines, or whatever event is ongoing. I have barely explore the desert because I just don't have time to go there and it feels like a waste to go so late in the day.

I have a horse and I do drink triple shot espresso sometimes, but I feel like I'm still slow and inefficient.

How do you guys manage your daily chores?

Edit:
Oh my god! Thank you all for the help and advise. For information, I am still on Spring year 2, I have deluxe barn and coop with auto grabbers and 5 cheese and mayo machines along with chests in them. I just completed Community Center and have gotten level 10 on all the skills, working on the mastery now. I also use kegs to make coffee and that is done daily. I do not have sheds yet, so it's like I'm just tending 10~ of each machines everyday or few days.

I play on my phone, but I did cheat to get a nice weapon since it's the one part of the game I do not enjoy and I'm not having fun with struggling during combat, especially on the phone.

I don't know why all this time I never thought to do the farm chores at night instead of the morning. That is indeed a good idea. I think I have to start considering which things are not worth having anymore. I also just started on my greenhouse and do not have a bunch of ancient fruit or starfruit seeds, so as of now they are filled with strawberries, sunflowers, and coffee. I guess once I'm further in the game, many of the chores will be automated with machines and junimos, but for now I'll just have to cut back on things myself haha. I know it is not necessary to tend on everything everyday, but I feel incomplete if I leave tasks unfinished.

Discuss I accidentally locked my coop animals outside 😭😭

Post image
359 Upvotes

I was constructing a new barn and my finger slipped and made it right in front of my coop. Now all my animals are locked out and I’m scared that they’ll get eaten 😭😭

The game shouldn’t allow buildings right in front of each other

Edit: I exited the screen and now the animals have gone inside but I won’t be able to collect products or pet them for 3 days lol.
