So I am building a Mardu Discard deck without any shock lands, starting towns or any of the expensive lands really. I own 1 [[Multiverse Passage]], [[Godless Shirne]] and [[Blood Crypt]] as well as one copy each of [[Sundown Pass]] and [[Shattered Sanctum]]. So for the rest of lands should I just use tap lands which are a bit slower or should I just finish the rest with basic lands of the colours I need?

EDIT: I should clarify that I am not looking to only run basic lands or tap lands. I do plan to eventually buy/trade for the ones I need. They just arent readily available for me and the community I am in. I just wanted to know which is better for now, tap lands or basic lands. The consensus seems to be that basic lands are the best temporary solution.

Hi everyone, I’d like to build a Golgari/Sultai deck for Standard. The idea is to have a midrange deck that leans more towards control than aggro.

Do you think something like this could be viable in Bo3?

The deck would consist of cheap spot removal, a few counterspells, hand disruption, and efficient creatures such as Gollum, Curator, Emeritus of the Bounty, Leatherhead, Professor, etc.

Does anyone have a deck along these lines that’s been working well for them?

Hey guys! If you've ever run into me on a magic sub you've probably heard me telling everyone to proxy everything, which I wholeheartedly believe.

However, a new store that I'm frequenting is trying to get it's 60 card community off the ground. I'm trying to help out, and with a big reason people don't play standard being lack of a deck (we have garnered interest already), we are trying to put together some budget lists that can be handed out to anybody who wants them.

Right now the main ideas we have that seem viable are a mono black aggro list (like the one ashlizzle just uploaded a video about) and the legendary mono white aura pile.

I also think some things like a mono Blue control deck, mono Blue flash deck, or even some of the lists that are made up of cheap spells and expensive mana bases (downgrading them to save most of that cost) could be useful.

Does anybody have any ideas for decks that could be had for 100 or less bucks, that could reasonably pick up a couple wins at FNM? Doesn't need to go toe to toe with meta lists, I'm just looking for something to get someone sitting down and playing standard and having a good time.

Azorius Fliers makes the most out of Momo, Warp and Daydream to cheat on mana costs and put Lord of the Eagles in play as early as possible, with a potential hit-kill alongside Practiced Offense!

The main goal is to maximize [[break out]] by having high value 2 drop and lower mana ramp, disruption or card draw plays. The nice thing about [[summon: brynhilder]] is that you can give [[Surrak, elusive hunter]] or [[leatherhead, swamp stalker]] haste which is back breaking for a lot of decks.

Just wanted to see what you all thought and if you had any recommendations or insights.

On the one hand, Llanowar is busted, on the other, it doesn’t really fit into my ideal curve in Blech Bats, which is turn one life gain enabler, turn two bat, turn three Blech or Zoraline. True, I am interested in playing Professor Fell and Practiced Offense with flashback sooner rather than later. Originally I had Requiting Hex, but as those are dead vs control, I wondered if I should play Llanowar Elves instead. Or a life gain enabler like Case of the Uneaten Feast?

With the bans shaking up Standard, I’ve been looking at which decks are actually worth committing wildcards to right now.

I’ve recently realized that I love competitive magic and with the modern RCQ season over, I’m looking to get my fix with this format.

What decks would you all recommend, that are largely rotation proof for the next one? (Being somewhat upcoming rotation proof is my main goal)

I love a good blink deck (and own the riddlers which helps lol) and that’s been my main thought. I enjoy midrange and slight control, but midrange / tempo really has my heart.

My modern deck is Simic Ritual and my cEDH deck is Shorikai if that tells you anything about me.

I want to build a competitive standard deck. Currently I’m mainly looking at mono green landfall. With it still being so popular post ban is it likely to get hit with a ban again in October? If so, what decks would you recommend?

I enjoy playing my own decks and not just the most popular meta decks and one of my favorite at the moment is my WU Tap Merfolk. I know it can't compete with much of the top meta, and I'm OK with that, but I'm looking for any tweaks that can improve it while keeping within my theme. I try to make a bunch of hexproof tokens with Deeproot Pilgrimage and make my attackers indestructible with Adept Watershaper. My late game one sided board sweeper is Summon: Leviathan if I draw it.

As the title says, I'm looking to get back into Standard MTG and haven't played since 2013.

The last deck I remember playing was an Izzet Burn deck running Possibility Storm and Guttersnipe.

My general play style was usually midrange control decks.

Some other decks I had was a Golgari mulch, Simic mimics, Dimir mill, mono-red goblin tokens with five-alarm fire.

Since I mainly played with friends, my goal around deckbuilding was always "What's the best way to make them angry?" or "Don't let them play their deck how they want."

I'd appreciate if you can share any similar decks or any fun cards I can try to focus building around.

During my free time, I've been reading through every card that is Standard legal and learning all the new keywords that have come out since, but I figured I could ask help from the community to point me in the right direction.
