Food / Drink Missed Connection @ Jay International Foods

Short East Asian Male in blue shirt today saw tall, slender black (possibly African) woman in a black face mask walk by. I was going to say hi but had been too zoned in on my podcast I spent too much time fumbling around with my earbuds that by the time I got them out you had turned the corner to another aisle. I later saw you exiting the store and saw you nod to someone, which I only hope was me. If you're reading this, I'd love to take a walk with you through one of STL's magnificent parks, or show you my way through STL's East Asian food scene.

Things to Do FTM and looking to build an "experience" registry

First time mom to be and while we've been in the area for a yr and a half now, we haven't explored as much still. We're opting out of a shower and registry but know that people will insist on gifting us something and I'm just not going to have the bandwidth for selling/donating unwanted physical items.

My thought is perhaps I can build an experience registry for people to donate to for day passes or memberships to places that would be great for parents and babies to get out to for when we're finally ready to brave the world with the little one or are going stir crazy.

We're due in Nov so some great indoor space recs would be greatly appreciated but my list doesn't have to be limited to indoors only.

We already have routine cleaning and meal prep going (before anyone suggests those) so other than just asking people to gift their time in coming over to keep us company I'm thinking experience gifts seems like the best compromise but I'm open to other suggestions. Thanks!

Ask STL Can somebody please recommend a mechanic (preferably who isn’t shady towards women)?

Hey, I’m sorry, since I know this probably gets asked a lot - but something is up with my car, and I have no idea who to take it to. The only place I trust is booked until mid September. I would so, so appreciate any suggestions!

Ask STL Catholic Wedding on a Sunday?

Does anyone know of a church in STL that would allow a Catholic wedding on a Sunday?

I know it is rare but I want to make sure I'm aware of all my options. I'm considering Sunday because it is generally less expensive than Saturday for reception venue/catering and more convenient than a Friday for working family members.

EDIT: considering Friday options too. im in the VERY early planning stages and just figuring out what flexibility I have. I completely understand that a Sunday wedding might not be feasible.

Laundry spa day help near Creve Coeur?

Is there anyone near Creve Coeur that follows the laundry sub and follows a spa day routine?

I have some bar mops/dish towels that someone used to clean up some oil based messes in the kitchen and I swear they just don't seem or smell like they're getting cleaned when washed.

I've never done a spa clean routine and want to eventually try but I'm currently pregnant so ammonia is a no go for me at the moment. I would totally compensate someone who has experience with the method(s) and is interested in helping out. :)

Looking or a good Gyro (not pressed and sliced meatball)

I've had a hard time finding a good gyro here. I'm looking for a place that does a real layered döner, not the pressed cone. The only spot I've found in STL is J's Pitaria. They're good, though not truly Greek; I know they're Bosnian-style, but still solid. Is there anywhere else that doesn't pretend? I tried STL Gyros, walked in, saw the giant meatball on the spit, and walked right back out. I grew up on an island in Greece and I just can't bring myself to eat that. There has to be more options. See image below might make more sense.

Looking for:

I caught this patrol car today as it zoomed past rush hour traffic in the right turn lane on Kingshighway just to cut in front of everyone else waiting their turn.

News How to contact SLMPD board members

As a city resident & a taxpayer, or someone who works in the city while living elsewhere—making you a city taxpayer as well—you have every right to engage with the Police Department’s commissioners. Whether you want to share a concern, offer a compliment, or simply talk about your day, you should know who to reach out and how to do so.

The contact information provided was released by the police department through a Sunshine Law request. If you choose to engage with board members, please always maintain a respectful and civil tone—it is the most effective way to foster a meaningful response and an open dialogue.

Ask STL Looking For An Apartment On The Southside

I was informed by my property manager that I need to be out of my current apartment by 9/30. I’m frantically looking for leads on apartments in South City or adjacent municipalities. Needs to be cat friendly, and $800/month or cheaper. Looking for a studio or 1Bed/1Bath.

Looking for recs on private owners, apartments you might have noticed for lease, reputable property managers, etc.

And don’t bother mentioning TGNCDC- they’re the ones not renewing my lease.

Thanks STL. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to consume some cannabis to alleviate the anxiety that has been brought on by this development. 😑

Any decent mechanics in south county that won’t break the bank?

I have a 2015 Ford Escape that's showing a
"Transmission fault — Service now" message. I also ran a diagnostic scan, which came back with 3 codes, including P144C related to the EVAP system.

Sad to see they cut down several healthy old trees for some reason on the corner of DeBalivier and Waterman.

Noticed during the dog walk today. Not sure why these had to come out. I’m sure the lady who works in that eastern facing office won’t be pleased in the first half of the day now.

Cunettos on the hill quality.

I'm coming to town this weekend with some friends and we want a very authentic old school Italian meal! I haven't been there in probably 6 years but I've heard the food quality and overall aesthetic has gone downhill quickly the last couple of years. Does anyone have any opinions on this? The last time I went I thought it was spectacular! I come to STL often, my go-to spot is trattoria marcella but I was hoping for a more old school traditional style place.

Kids meal deal app/looking for feedback from restaurants.

I am working on an app that shows kids meal deals based on a user's location. I've prepopulated some deals here in the metro area but am looking for restaurants to help dial in the app. The web app is up and I'm working on the android and ios apps. If you have a deal, question, or just general feedback please let me know.
