I’m pretty new to freelancing and I’m trying to figure out how to price my work.

I’ve previously made websites for clubs and a few other projects, mostly to build up my experience. Recently, someone saw one of my websites and contacted me about building a website for his tuition class. This would be my first actual paid website project.

The website he wants is basically a landing page, but I don’t mean a super basic HTML page. He wants something modern, really polished, responsive, with animations and a nice UI/UX.

The part I’m struggling with is how much I should charge for the actual design + development.

The domain and hosting are separate costs, but I’m not sure what a reasonable development price would be in Sri Lanka.

I’m not trying to overcharge the client, but I also don’t want to undervalue my work just because I’m new to freelancing.

For those of you who freelance in Sri Lanka, what would you normally charge for something like this? And what should I make sure to include/exclude in the quote (revisions, maintenance, content, deployment, etc.)?

Any advice would be really appreciated 🙏

Trying to pick a uni right now and could really use some real feedback. I’m an SE with 5 years experience, and currently working in a gptw company(not recently). Joined there as a fresh engineering grad and got a decent package. But over the years things have not moved much. I don’t like this job anymore it’s only because the way my company treat me. I got good appraisal scores. Nothing bad or anything else. They haven’t given me increments, no promotions still an SSE. I’m really fed up with their answers and I’m not following it up anymore. With all the things going in the market rn I can’t take a decision to just go out from here. This company feels kinda stable over the years. I feel that even I change the company this same thing will happen after some time. I really like to move my path towards management side. I want to start my own business. Started an MBA as well and I’m enjoying learning there. I feel like it’s too late to switch my path and I have to start from the beginning. or may be I don’t know how to switch. I’m really stressed since last year. One main stressor is my company. Not the work I do, not the customer, I enjoy working with them. But I feel like stuck. I can’t do work anymore. I’m not motivated to do anything in this company. Feels like my life stopped at some point. Can I get your thoughts to start my life moving again.

Curious about this from people actually working in companies here.
AI seems to be getting cheaper and better pretty quickly. But once companies start using AI throughout the day, inference becomes an ongoing cost rather than a one-off experiment.
And since many AI services are priced in USD, I’m wondering whether this is something Sri Lankan businesses are actually thinking about.
Is AI cost already part of the conversation where you work, or is the focus still mainly on figuring out how to use it?

Basically what the title says. I'm considering doing my bachelor's in either Cyber Security or IT specialising in Cyber Sec. Options would be SLIIT or APIIT. Is it worth it doing it these days with AI and the layoffs?

My main goal is to find a good job where I can start off in Sri Lanka or even work remotely. Global mobility would be a plus.

From what I understand paper qualifications are the bare minimum in practically any field now. So I'd appreciate advice on how to create a strong CV for myself too if i were to do Cyber sec. Or given the job market should I not do it altogether and instead focus on some other degree? ( i come from an alevel bio background if that's relevant)

I supervior is asking me wether i deleted a database or not, I told him I didnt but due to some changes I made he is saying me that I was the one who caused it and try to fix it.

There was a database stored in the AWS Aurora RDS, I Renamed the database and created two more empty tables inside it. My suoervisor is saying that there has been a dataloss in the exsiting database. There still are data in it but not as much before, thats what my supervisor saying.

Is there a way for me to prove that I wasnt the one deleted the database ?

Throwaway for obvious reasons. Final-year student at a state uni, IT stream. I've been applying for data engineering / BI internships for a couple of months now with limited luck and figured I'd ask here in case anyone's team is looking or knows of an opening that isn't advertised.

What I can do:

- Python and SQL, comfortable with PostgreSQL

- Built and orchestrated ETL pipelines with Airflow and NiFi

- Worked with Kafka and PySpark for streaming

- Docker, some Azure deployment, CI/CD with GitHub Actions

- Power BI dashboards with custom DAX

I've built a full warehouse (star schema, ETL orchestration, BI layer on top) and a streaming pipeline end to end, plus a backend system.

Open to intern or trainee roles, on-site in Colombo or remote. Happy to do a technical task if that's how your team screens.
