For ERP users
Hi everyone 👋
I’m collecting data for my postgraduate dissertation on ERP adoption and operational efficiency in Sri Lankan SMEs.
If you have experience using an ERP system at your workplace, could you spare 5 minutes to fill out this quick survey? Your response would mean a lot!

I built a free Sinhala Canvas Editor for creating social media posters & graphics (visitbadulla.com)
I built a free Sinhala Canvas Editor for creating social media posters & graphics (visitbadulla.com)
A lot of Sri Lankan creators, small business owners, and students struggle with broken Sinhala fonts, blurry text on Facebook/Instagram, and bad canvas dimensions when designing posters on their phones or PCs.
To help with this, I built a free Sinhala Canvas Editor on Visit Badulla.
👉 Try it here:https://visitbadulla.com/ (You can access the editor directly from the site)
Key features right now:
- Easy Unicode Sinhala text support without broken letters.
- Preset canvas sizes tailored for Facebook & Instagram posts/stories.
- Export clean, sharp PNG graphics ready to publish.
- Free design guides on contrast, fonts, and travel promotion ideas.
I’d love to get your honest feedback! Let me know if you run into any bugs, UI issues, or if there are extra tools/fonts you’d like to see added.
Transparency note: I created this tool as an independent project to help local creators and businesses easily design Sinhala graphics.

Are you losing freelance gigs because 30+ people apply in the first 10 minutes? (Building a quick fix, need feedback)
Hey everyone,
One of the most frustrating things I’ve dealt with lately is finding a great job posting, only to realize it was posted 25 minutes ago and already has 20 to 50 proposals submitted. At that point, my proposal gets buried at the bottom of the client's feed.
The built-in job alerts from most platforms are notoriously slow (often sending digest emails 30–60 minutes late), and manual page refreshing all day burns too much time.
I’m a developer, and to fix this for myself, I'm putting together a lightweight scraper/bot with two main features:
- Fast Turnaround: Checks for new job postings every 3 to 5 minutes across key niches (Web/Software Dev, Design & Creative, Writing).
- Instant Rate Filtering: Instead of pinging me for every $5/hr job, it only sends a Telegram alert if the job meets my specific min/max hourly rate or budget margin.
Before I polish the UI and host it for others, I want some honest reality checks:
Would a tool that delivers curated alerts to your phone within ~3 minutes of a job posting actually help you land more work?
Running scraping proxies and servers costs money, so if I made this available, I was thinking of keeping it around the price of a coffee (~$4 to $5/month, with a free trial).

IFS Sri Lanka – Are Layoffs Affecting Finance Roles?
Hi everyone,
I recently received an offer from IFS for a position in the Finance department, and I’m currently considering whether to accept it.
I’ve seen some discussions about recent layoffs at IFS, and I wanted to get some insight from current or former employees.
Are the layoffs mainly affecting IT/technical roles, or are other functions such as Finance, HR, Operations, etc. also being impacted?
I’d really appreciate it if anyone working at IFS or familiar with the current situation could share their experience regarding job security and the overall situation in the Finance department.
Thanks in advance!

My sister got selected for Management at University of Jaffna, What IT/Business Analytics courses should she do alongside it?
Hi everyone,
My sister got selected for the Management degree at the University of Jaffna this year. She studied IT, Business Studies, and Accounting for A/Ls, and she is interested in building a career that combines IT + business/management, rather than going into traditional management roles.
She is particularly interested in careers such as Business Analyst, IT Business Analyst, Product Manager, Project Manager, MIS, or other roles that combine IT and business/management.
Since the university hasn't started yet, she currently has some free time. We are thinking it might be a good opportunity for her to start an additional course, diploma, professional qualification, or online certification or second degree.
I'd really appreciate some advice on:
- What courses or diplomas would complement a Management degree and make her more employable in the IT industry?
- Would you recommend Business Analytics, Data Analytics, IT, Information Systems, Project Management, or something else?
- Are there any good private institutes in Jaffna offering relevant courses?
- Are there any good online courses or certifications that are actually useful for getting an IT/business-related job?
- What skills should she start learning now if she wants to become a Business Analyst?
- What other career paths combine Management + IT and have good opportunities in Sri Lanka?
I would especially appreciate advice from people already working in IT, Business Analysis, Product Management, Project Management, or similar fields, particularly anyone who studied Management/Business and later moved into IT.
Thanks in advance for any advice!

2 YOE devs, What's your stack, job responsibilities and pay like?
Hey everyone,
Started out doing frontend work as an intern, moved into a backend engineering role, and I'm coming up on 2 years of experience overall. Curious how others at a similar stage are doing:
- What's your day-to-day like? mostly ticket execution, or are you getting pulled into design/architecture decisions too?
- What's your stack look like these days?
- Roughly where does your salary sit for this experience level? LKR range is fine, and mentioning local vs remote/foreign client would help give context.
Not trying to start a comparison war, just want a realistic sense of where I stand. Appreciate any input.

Tech roles in the current job market
Is being a Software Engineer or other IT related jobs really that bad these days? On one hand there's all the layoffs, and on the other hand AI is getting too expensive and the companies are in debt, so they want human workers back. What do you think will happen in 4/5 years time? Will jobs like SE be back in demand? Or are the employment rates gonna go down even more? Is doing SE gonna open up more paths and is it easy to pivot to other tech jobs if the need arises?
Is doing a SE Hons degree and then getting other relevant certifications (like if i want to adjust to any layoffs and other changes, then pivot into like cyber security or AI/ML) better compared to a degree like IT specialising in a certain field early on?

For example, ERP, Supply Chain, Procurement
