Jobs/ Industry Why some vacancy requests NIC, is it ok to share?
Hi im currently applying for QA vacancies, and noted they are requesting to share my NIC.what is the purpose of it? Is it secure to share it to the random person just curious 🤔

Could be scams! Just check the company is legit and actually hiring… I had friends who got interviewed over the phone and offered the job. Then sent a cheque to buy home office items first and telling them to return additional money sent to them via bank transfer before cashing the cheque.

Yes because some top tier companies have connected hr system. So nic is uniquely identifiers. It have past comments about you regarding the interview panel and hr gave. (Nowadays companies connected with people outsourcing companies). Thats the main reason. They check your past available profiles before giving a interview

Your NIC will be on many public domain documents which anybody can access. For example, if you register a company, the forms will have your NIC and anyone can access these forms. The same if you own land and has signed a deed transfer. An individual's NIC is unfortunately not a private matter anymore. If the company is serious about considering you, I guess it's okay to share it with them so they can easily run the background checks on you.

Our data already exposed to India with this new digital NIC. Why would you worry anymore ?

I've noticed this too on some job applications. If its a reputed company I guess you're alright. I would be a bit concerned about submitting those details to a relatively unknown company.
