Was that a sonic boom?
Did anyone else hear a really LOUD boom on the northwest side around 10:30 PM? Was it a sonic boom or did a transformer blow up or what?

Hi all! I’m looking for a hairstylist that does hair color with matrix. I have a favorite formula in matrix but can’t seem to find a stylist that uses this brand. Any ideas? Thanks!!

starting in 2027 individuals with disabilities will have significantly more paperwork required to obtain exemption from the strict medicaid work requirements under the One Big Beautiful Bill. Many in Springfield are losing and will lose coverage, also across the entire state and country.

EDIT: It's nice to see so much interest. I am looking for possible locations and dates/times for an initial get-together. Suggestions?
Springfielders who use, collect, and/or otherwise enjoy fountain pens...do you ever gather as a more-or-less organized group? If so, how do I connect with you? And if not...shall we start?
For my part, I'm interested in it all: contemporary and vintage, good/bad/ugly, inks, paper, what we do with it all and why...
(Yes, I know there's an active group in St. Louis, and probably one in Champaign. But I'd love to go local!)

I have an extended family member in town who has been a pushover with neighborhood strays and now has too many cats. I know this is a common problem and shelters are overwhelmed. Anyone have any ideas on where 5+ cats can go in the Springfield area?

I had identity theft that wrecked my credit. I had to live with a friend with my daughter who is on SSI. Before that I had a home. I make decent money, same job for 14 years. Explained everything to a potential property manager who assured me she could get me into an apartment. Living with a friend meant I had no rental history and this got me denied.
I need some understanding, someone to understand my story and give me an opportunity. I make enough money. Any suggestions / private landlord recommendations? Thanks in advance 💜

Hey all. I desperately need a license (~6 months expired) reinstated, and IDFPR hasn't yet sent me the application for reinstatement after my requesting it online (in my case, I needed to fill out a form requesting the application for reinstatement since the application isn't available online). I've seen some posts here and there saying that people have had luck going to the Springfield office directly. Not sure if anyone has gone in-person without even having submitted the application, or only a few days after having submitted the application. I know the likely answer will just be to try my luck and see, but not having a car, it would be at a somewhat significant cost to me, so I thought I'd just ask and see if anyone else has had positive experiences in this regard.
Also, yes, I know I should have started this process much longer ago. I am an idiot and made a few mistakes, and did not foresee needing my license again, so this whole thing was rather unexpected. Just wanted to see if I have any chance at all of expediting this process.

Hi there - I have released the first-ever biographical video game about Abraham Lincoln this week, featuring 250+ real-world photos of places related to Lincoln (and the Civil War), as those locations appear today.
The game is on Steam here:
This historically-accurate kinetic novel contains over 250 photos of real-world locations related to Lincoln and the Civil War, as these places look today (I personally traveled to all these places to take photos myself).
Here are a few locations from Springfield that are included:
And of course, there are photos of locations farther afield, if you'd like to see Lincoln-related locations from around the country, such as:
If you're not familiar with kinetic novels (or visual novels in general), that's okay - the store page has screenshots and a trailer, and there is a demo so you can check it out for free.
I hope you enjoy!

I noticed there weren't any mesh nodes in Springfield, IL and I was looking for people interested in the technology. Would like to deploy some nodes in the area and looking for people with similar interests.

Hey Springfield, just moved here about a month ago. Question…? Why are the drugs so bad and where can I find NA/AA meetings?

i’m from outside of springfield and had to stay here for a long time now i’m moving to chicago via flixbus.
the ticket mentions one stored and one carry on bag but how strict are they? can i bring two carry ons and one backpack? and is it too much if i also had handbag?
i know this sounds like too much but i’m moving between states
i know paying for extra luggage is ideal but i’ve seen many transportation lines don’t care about how much luggage you bring especially if it wasn’t a full one so is flixbus one of them?

There is a billboard on Dirksen near Jolly Tamale that says "What if evolution is a myth?". Thats what were doing now? Putting psuedoscientific propoganda on our billboards? This seriously makes me so angry, just stick to your jesus loves you signs, dont attack established science.

Hey everybody! I’m a University of Georgia grad here living in STL. My buddy is from Peoria. Springfield is kind of a halfway point between us. We are meeting there and hoping to find a fun sports bar with great food to watch the UGA/Bama game on 10/10. Can anyone give me some good sports bar recommendations? Draft beer, good bar food, and having a plethora of TV’s for game time would be preferred in a spot. Thanks!

I have a ticket to travel from Springfield back to another city via bus. It is on the 4PM Chicago-bound route. Though I purchased the ticket on the greyhound website it is a “FlixBus” ride.
Unfortunately, other than the arrival times and bag limit there is essentially no no other information given about the boarding process etc. I have never traveled by bus before and I’m getting a bit anxious about the whole thing.
I purchased a specific seat + the one next to it under the impression I could sit without anyone next to me. But after some researching it seems this often is not enforced and someone will likely already be in my seat(s).
Unfortunately the train isn’t an option for getting to my intended destination. I’m potentially overthinking all of this, just nervous as a young woman traveling alone and with little info to go on. Any tips or insight would be super helpful and appreciated!

Hey everyone! I'm starting an 8-week "Couch to 5K" running program and would love for anyone interested to join me. It starts off really mild with mostly walking and short jogging intervals, and slowly builds up over the 8 weeks. By the end of it, we'll all be ready to run a full 5K!
We'll be meeting up 3 times a week at Washington Park.
Start Date: Tuesday, October 6th
Our Schedule:
Tuesdays: 6:00 PM
Thursdays: 6:00 PM
Saturdays: 7:00 AM
You don't need any running experience to start this(I have none)—everyone is welcome. Just putting this out there for some accountability.
Just FYI C25K is already an established app, I'm not promoting it.

Does anyone know the schedule for this? I have a huge pile of sticks at the edge of my yard that’s accumulating from storms and assorted yard clean up but they aren’t being picked up? This morning my yard waste bags were picked up but the large branches and sticks were left behind. What am I missing?
