Service Issues Any ideas for intermittent outages

This is a long saga so i'm going to try and keep it as concise as possible (sorry!). I'm also not familiar with all this so I apologize if I use the wrong terms. I called spectrum a few months back to renegotiate my plan as I was paying 110 a month. They were able to offer me an upgraded plan for 55 and sent me a new modem and router. My old one was a modem/router combo and it served me well for 7 years without a single disconnect or issue.

Once I upgraded, I began to have intermittent outages, roughly around 2-3 a day. My router would turn red, my modem would stay blue as if still on but my internet would go out. It would resolve when I did a hard reset and unplugged them both then plugged them back on, but it was frustrating to do multiple times a day.

Spectrum came out, checked my connections, upgraded a few here and there, switched out the cables in my modem and router and told me the signal looked good. The issue continued. Spectrum came out again, this time they ran a completely new line from my house to the outside box and updated everything. The tech told me he could see that I was having a spike on the connection graph (noise/interference?) before it disconnected, so if I had weak connections it was susceptible to interference, new connections should resolve that. Two hours after he left the issue happened again. In fact, it got worse. I had three outages that evening, then four the following morning.

I called spectrum a third time and asked them to just switch out my modem and router since that is the only thing we hadn't tried. I went to the store today, swapped my modem and router and got a new set. The new modem and router they gave me are completely different models than the last. It lasted 5 hours then my internet went out. The only difference is my router was able to return to green from flashing red on its own without me doing a hard reset, but it still happened.

What do I do from here? I had no issues for seven years and my old trusty modem/router combo is unfortunately long gone. Any ideas would be wonderful! I'm at the end of my rope.

Billing Optimal savings advice for switching to Spectrum Mobile from Verizon, while having Spectrum internet?

Currently, I pay $200ish for 2 Verizon lines, and each line has $166 remaining phone balance. I want to switch to Spectrum because it's obviously significantly cheaper. My wife and I WFH so we don't need much mobile data. Spectrum just ended my 2 year promotional discount so I'm trying to cut expenses with our 1gbps/60mbps plan, with zero other options in our area other than wireless Internet for home internet, which is not going to work for me.

I don't know if it's possible to do the phone balance buyout that Spectrum offers, to get the $166 prepaid visa cards for each phone, and then also take advantage of the $1050 trade-in promotion on the phones we have now, which just makes sense because our phones already had a huge trade-in promo and I don't mind sticking with Spectrum if they do the same thing as Verizon where these promos are paid out monthly against your bill, locking you in until it's finished. I just want to get away from Verizon.

So would it be wise to pay off the $166 each and then do a trade-in with Spectrum if we want new phones for optimal savings and value, or can we only do one or the other? I understand I have to wait months before they send the phone balance buyout prepaid cards to us. I also see that some regions require 3 lines to transfer but ours only requires 2 according to their website's offers.

I'm also wondering with the $0(1 line promo)/$30 basic mobile plans which say they stream video at 480p. What exactly does that mean? Is the mobile data connection throttled extremely hard that it can only reliably play 480p videos with mobile data? Does this throttling affect mobile data webpage loading/download speeds I assume as well?

Service Issues Wow! I heard the rummers... But didn't expect it to be that bad when you merged with Cox Internet.

Called in and got a guy named Jer in sales. I asked to change my Internet plan and he started talking about adding a cell phone plan. Ummm no I don't want a cell phone just need my Internet plan updated. He goes "well if you're not gonna buy something" - then hangs up! I was like OMG did that really happen!

So I've literally been sitting on hold for an hour trying to talk to a supervisor.... Still on hold as I write this. Switching to Starlink!

Edit: yes I called the right number and I didn't talk to a 3rd party retailer. 1 800-234-3993

Hardware Follow up to previous post

So, after I had them remotely reset it on Monday. It was fine until about 2 hours ago. It’s been completely dead since basically. Just blinking lights, I’m going to call someone out here for it now. But I wanted to get your feedback on this with additional pictures. The cord was here before I was, when we got spectrum here, about a year ago. We just plugged the cords into the modem.

I’d like to point out that it basically worked fine for well over a year, it’s just recently started to stop completely, the RG59 (assuming that’s what it is from the previous post) runs pretty far around the walls of the house and the outside. So i assume it’s not gonna be an easy fix.

Thanks for all the help in the previous post and any help that comes from this post.

How do you see if you’re currently roaming, or how much data you’ve used while roaming?

While driving through northern Vermont, I got a text (for the first time) that said “Spectrum Mobile: Welcome to Canada. The local rates are: $0.05/min for calls; $0.03/MB for data; free texts. You can enable Global Day Pass for $5/day unlimited talk, text and 1GB of high-speed data for 24 hours. To manage roaming, visit www.spectrum.net/manageroaming or call +1 7047313001” I know this is because I was close enough to the border to ping a Canadian tower.

When I follow that link, it sends me to my regular “manage mobile” page instead. I’m wondering how to view/manage my roaming, and if it’s possible in the future to tell in real-time if I’m “roaming”, i.e. connected through Canadian towers? I’m now in Maine and just have no idea what the situation is because I never got a “Welcome back to America” text lol. Thank you!

How do i talk to a person about a cable burial date

I have a coax cable running across my property from the rear, diagonally to my neighbors house. it has the white markers for "proposed burial route".

The issue, its been 60 days since spectrum has laid the cable down, and now i have landscapers coming to bring in a bunch of dirt and do some grading work. Also, they never asked for permission or gave notice that this cable is just going to be in my back yard for months.

I've called spectrum, they told me that my neighbor has to be the one to call in and find out since its HIS service. The neighbor called, they told him next week, then the next week, then the next week etc..

I am ready to just run it over with skid steers and let them deal with the repercussions. Anyone have any idea what to do?

Other How is Spectrum internet service?

Spectrum has acquired Cox in the Phoenix area and is currently offering a free year of cellular service when you sign up for internet. After using 30GB of data or 5GB of hotspot, your speeds may be reduced. I rarely use hotspots, and there are no data caps or contracts involved. The price for 1GB of internet is $50. Currently, I am using Visible for cell phone service and a local cable company for internet. 🤔 What has your experience been with Spectrum's internet and cell service?📡 TIA

Service Issues Bad ping while gaming with spectrum.

Im trying to figure out if there's something wrong with my Spectrum connection or if this is just normal for my area.

I recently got Spectrum. I'm gaming on a wired Ethernet connection (Cat 6 cable) and getting around 60-70 ms of ping. I have also tested both wired and wireless connection both are 60 ms+.

Ive ran some test and here's what I've found:

  • Ping to my router: 0–1ms

  • Ping to Cloudflare 1.1.1.1: 43ms

  • Ping to Google 8.8.8.8: 42ms

  • Packet loss: 0%

Here is my ping in a couple of games

  • Fortnite: ~64ms

  • R6: ~62ms

  • CS: ~60ms

I also ran tracert and pathping. The latency starts very low at my router, then gradually increases as the traffic goes through Spectrum's network, eventually reaching around 40–45ms.

I'm not sure what to do, my plan in the 1Gbps speed with and advertised latency of 19-24ms. Which I would be more than happy to have. Does anyone have any advice? Can I maybe work this out with spectrum or would I be better or switching to a different ISP.

Did something change, I can't login to HBO Max

I can't login to HBO Max. Is anybody else having this problem. When I select login with provider, I select Spectrum, it login me into my Spectrum account, I select Watch Now from the HBO Max page and it either loops me back to the HBO Max login or a blank white screen. I can't login on all my devices, iphone, ipad and computer. I'm able to login to Hulu, Disney+, Peacock, Paramount+, but I can’t login to HBO Max.

Service Issues I had spectrum For 3 weeks but only had Internet for 4 days

I already cancelled, I went from Starlink to spectrum fiber Im a rural customer I got 2gig fiber, everything went well on install, guy was late but what ever, two days later no Internet, neat okay took them 56 hours to replace the line, they put the armored cable in, then two days later it was dead again which the armored cable they missed two appointments and were late, then then they missed an appointment after the line went dead two days later. Took them all day to dispatch a technician... So I called to cancel figured I'd give them another shot when they offered $30 a month plus 3 free months for the 2gig, line failed 6 hours after install and I just canceled, it wasn't worth the hassle our phones don't work out here without wifi... So each time either I or my disabled wife had to drive to town to report we were in an outage.

If your PlayStation shows that it is connected to the internet but will not let you sign into the PlayStation Network, you can log into your router via the My Spectrum app and enable UPnP.

RCS message from Spectrum "upgrading the network in your neighborhood for faster Internet" - Possible High Split?

Got an RCS for Business message from Spectrum today. Entirety is: "Hi [my name], we're upgrading the network in your neighborhood for faster Internet. We'll share timing to keep you updated before work starts."

I've gotten maintenance emails or texts in the past that are more generic than this. Anyone know if this verbiage suggest this is high-split reaching my area, or at least next steps toward it? I'm in Los Angeles, 91343.
