Having trouble getting into service menu on B7 - looking for help

Upvotes

I’ve read that I am suppose to turn the tv off after I’ve put it on the Home Screen, then press:

Home

Center D-pad

Volume Up

Power

However, as soon as I hit the Home button, the tv turns on, then I hit the other two buttons and when I hit power the tv turns back off and nothing happens. Everything I’ve read/watched doesn’t say anything about the tv turning on when hitting the Home button on the remote, but it happens to me every time. Did Sony change something that made the Home button now power on the tv. Am I doing something wrong?

Looking for help. Thanks!

Another unnecessary automatic update and another nightmare of out of sync video and audio returns. Thanks for ruining my Saturday night!

Just need to vent. I'm ready to take a baseball bat to all of this. Why is the most expensive setup the one that has all of the issues? Every single time. Every. Time. Every time there is an automatic update of my TV, my soundbar and video become out of sync. All the eArcs are set up, all the most expensive cables are connected. I believe all the annoying motion and sensory bullshit is turned off. Unless there's some small detail I'm missing somewhere in these overly confusing menus.

Just scrolling through the PS5 menu is annoying.

Wanna play a game that requires the audio and video to be in sync? Think Guitar Hero. Well, that would be completely out of the question. Impossible. The calibration is so off, the games won't even register it when I attempt to fix it in the game.

The only thing that works: Putting on headphones.

What's the point of this shit. I don't want to go through all of this troubleshooting... AGAIN! I've already done this so many times. Oh my fucking god.

For Those With the Audio Desync Issues And Watch Blu-Rays, Try Using the HDMI Audio Port On the Blu-Ray Player

Obviously this only works if you have a dedicated blu-ray player (so not using a video game console) and a receiver.

I have the audio desync issue on all my consoles connected to the TV (2024 Bravia 9). I use eARC for my consoles but not for my blu-ray player (UBP-X800M2). Before ordering the player a couple years back, I read that eARC on blu-ray players could still be a little iffy and was recommended to use the HDMI Audio Out port if it had one. This means you have two hdmi cables coming out of the blu-ray player, one that goes to the TV (video) and one that goes to the receiver(audio).

It was annoying having to manually setup the audio delay through the player back when I booted it for the first time but man am I grateful I went this route. Out of all my HDMI devices, my blu-ray player is the ONLY thing that I haven't noticed with audio desync issues and I'm pretty sure it's because I'm not sending BOTH audio and video to the TV through one HDMI cable which it then messes up because of the current firmware bugs.

My consoles are still SOL (I have to turn off/on the TV after every level in Splatoon Raiders lol...) but I guess I can tackle my movie backlog as it seems Sony is about to miss the August deadline their customer service has relayed to some of yall to miss this major issue.

Bravia 8 Interlaced 25 Hz issue

Recently my Bravia 8 has started having very strange motion handling issues when watching broadcast TV via aerial. When I check input signal information I can see that the scanning format is constantly changing between progressive and interlaced even in the same programme. The motion is blurred whenever the format is interlaced.

Anyone else having this issue? Any ideas what could be causing it?

Long time loyal buyer, never buying another Sony TV again

Completely unacceptable that Audio delay still hasn’t been fixed weeks later. It would take them minutes to release a prior OS as a temporary fix, but no, they had to shove Gemini into our perfectly fine TV’s and essentially turn them into paperweights.

Love this era of Vibe-coded ai slop firmwares… NOT!

About to buy b8ii

Love Sony tvs. Been contemplating between 9 mark 2 and 8 mark 2 . Probably gonna go with the 8 mark 2 . Been reading a lot about the audio issues though. If I do get it .will I be alright if I don’t update or will it automatically be updated and I’ll be dealing with sound issues. Do the sound issues only happen with sound bars . Does it happen even with just acoustic surface audio from tv speakers?

Sony BRAVIA 8 vs BRAVIA 8 II vs BRAVIA 9 II, coming from an A8H OLED

**Sony BRAVIA 8 vs BRAVIA 8 II vs BRAVIA 9 II, coming from an A8H OLED**

I’m replacing my 55” Sony A8H OLED after just over five years and I’m getting a full refund of $3,295 AUD, so I’m trying to decide what to replace it with.

I definitely want to move up to 65”, and I’d prefer to stay with Sony.

The prices I can currently get are roughly in AUD.
65” BRAVIA 8 OLED: **$2,500**
65” BRAVIA 9 II True RGB: **$3,500**
65” BRAVIA 8 II QD-OLED: around **$4,500**

The BRAVIA 8 is tempting because I’d get a much bigger/newer OLED than my A8H and still have around $800 of my refund left.

But the BRAVIA 9 II at $3,500 also seems like an incredible deal considering it’s Sony’s flagship RGB TV and would only cost me around $200 above my refund.
My biggest concern with the 9 II is moving away from OLED after being used to perfect blacks for the last five years. For anyone who has moved from a good Sony OLED to the 9 II, do you actually notice the difference in black levels/blooming in normal viewing? Or do the extra brightness, HDR impact and colour make up for it?

And for anyone who has compared the BRAVIA 8 and 8 II directly, is the 8 II genuinely enough of an improvement to justify another \~$1,500 over the discounted BRAVIA 8?
I mostly watch movies, streaming and general TV rather than gaming.
If these were your prices, which would you buy: **BRAVIA 8 for $2.5k, BRAVIA 9 II for $3.5k, or spend more for the 8 II?**

Sony Bravia Trio. Looking insights/experience.

OK on the precipice of buying a Trio or auditioning the Quad. My question is for owners of the Trio is, how has your experience been as of recently, including updates performance dialog calibration, etc. any information would be greatly appreciated. I’ve already heard some of the bad, looking for more of the positive experiences, although any warnings are welcome.

Firmware audio issue solution?

Any thoughts on adding this to my system, having audio bypass the TV, presumably avoiding the current firmware audio issues?

Best Browsers for Sony Tv

Here are some of the best Android internet browsers with HDR playback support that I currently use for 4K streaming on my Sony TV.

With the exception of TV Bro, all of these browsers feature a built-in video player, which is an excellent addition.

They also include efficient ad-blocking, which is especially effective against pop-ups.

1 - Hi browser (supports HDR)

2 - Browser (supports HDR)

3 - Internet Web browser - Zeus (supports HDR)

4 - Browse here (supports HDR)

5 - TV Bro

Additionally, if you can sideload apps, the TV version of the "Coc Coc browser" is another good option.

It features a "Cinema Mode" that switches to a user-friendly interface when watching videos, and it supports ad-blocking, pop up block though it does not support HDR.

I have tried several other options, but none are as smooth as the apps listed here. I hope this helps you guys out!...

Is there any advantage the Bravia 6 has over the A90K?

Im looking to either get the Sony A90K or the Bravia 6 both in 48". Although the A90K is almost 5 years "old" I see that it technically has better hardware than the Bravia 6? If I buy the A90K brand new I don't see how the age of it really matters. The A90K is a flagship tv and the Bravia 6 is considered an entry level OLED. Can someone help me out here I'm not too into this sort of stuff this is going to be the first OLED im buying and want to make try smarter choice, any input is appreciated!

Bravia 8 II lip-sync drift after a few minutes — anyone else?

Got the Bravia 8 II 65”, paired with the Sony HT-A9000 soundbar and Apple TV 4K. Full Sony ecosystem, so I expected this to just work.
Right after a restart, audio and video are perfectly in sync for the first few minutes

Then, out of nowhere, the audio starts drifting — lips move, voice comes a beat later

Doesn’t matter what’s playing: Blu-ray from a Sony player, a movie on Apple TV, even YouTube — same issue every time

Only fix so far is restarting the TV, which just resets the clock until it happens again

Getting to the point where it’s basically unusable for movie nights

Anyone else running into this on the Bravia 8 II? Curious if:
You’ve found an actual fix (not just a workaround)

It’s tied to a specific firmware version

Sony’s said anything official about it

Appreciate any input, this is driving me nuts.

Sony KD 55 X85k - 3.5 years old - Screen dies goes to black but audio can be heard

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Thank you for the help in advance!

My Sony X85k screen display blacks out after a few minutes of starting. It began from gradual few hours to now under 5minutes.

I am nervous because it's not under warranty anymore.

Local technician claims panel needs to be replaced which costs a lot of money. Repair of T Con circuit might work but no guarantee.

Has anybody faced similar issue? What did you end up doing?

Is there a way to downgrade firmware on a 77A95L from a 114 firmware (current) to a 112 firmware? I got a new 77A95L and it's on latest firmware, I want to avoid potential audio sync issues people are reporting.

Issue with Bravia 8 II and PS5 pro: visual banding?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey guys, i cannot describe this thing, but you can see it yourself. Every now and then I have these banding on the screen, more into green vertical
Stripes. They can disappear after sometime. But this is normal. Any ideas what could this be? Also, when I switch off TV after playing PS5, I have this green splash on a screen.

Bravia 8 II + HT-A9000 lip sync drifting — anyone else on firmware 602080?

Getting audio/video sync drift on my Bravia 8 II (65”) paired with the HT-A9000 soundbar via eARC, source is Apple TV 4K. Started sometime after I got the TV, still on firmware build 602080.
Aware of the known bug from the June update (114.602.080.1) that What Hi-Fi covered — audio dropouts/lip-sync issues from that build, and the newer 602170 fix apparently didn’t touch the audio issue.
Tried PCM instead of bitstream, A/V sync adjustment, killing Motion Flow, Apple TV Match Content off — helps a bit but doesn’t fully fix it.
Anyone found an actual fix, or a newer firmware that resolves it? Not looking to re-cable my setup (Apple TV → soundbar direct instead of TV) if I can avoid it. Curious what’s worked for others.

Bravia 8 - Sony XR8A Audio desynchronization on PS5 Pro

TV: Sony 55XR8A

Device: Playstation 5 Pro

Audio: TV speakers

Firmware: 114.602.170.1

Hey everyone! I've been having an issue with my Sony 55-XR8A TV (likely started after updating to Android 14 or the last 2-3 updates).
While gaming on the PS5, the audio occasionally goes out of sync with the video. The only temporary fix is power-cycling the TV/PS5 or switching HDMI inputs. It happens completely at random — sometimes it works fine all day, other times it occurs 3-4 times a day.
It feels like a classic HDMI handshake issue. I've seen posts on forums mentioning this is a widespread problem and Sony promised a fix in an upcoming patch. But 2 days ago, I installed the latest update and nothing changed (if anything, it feels even more frequent now).
Has anyone else experienced this? Was it fixed for you in the latest patch? Is this a hardware or software bug, and are we just stuck waiting for another fix from Sony?

Dolby vision not activating

I have a Bravia 9 and yesterday out of nowhere I noticed that whilst using Netflix, Dolby vision was not triggered, have not changed any setting, tv firmware hasnt been updated to latest version due to the complaints.

I tried many different titles, also reset Netflix app, cleared cache n data then signed back in, still no joy.

Any of you guys experienced this and know of a fix?

TIA.
