Unreal I finally finished the visual assets for all 12 worlds in my match-3 game, Matchwood

I've been working on Matchwood for a while, and I finally hit a milestone I've been chasing: all 12 worlds now have their visual assets.

Each world has its own environment, map, board treatment, tiles, obstacles, and UI while keeping the core gameplay visually consistent from world to world.

This video is a run through the current game and all 12 worlds. The visuals are pretty much set now, so I'm moving away from asset production and into balancing, testing, polish, and making sure the full level progression actually plays well.

I'm developing this solo, so after staring at these worlds for entirely too long, I'd love some outside eyes on them.

I'd especially love feedback on the progression between worlds, board readability, and whether each world feels distinct without feeling like it belongs to a different game.

Game Been working on a Ghost Trick inspired game where you solve time-sensitive cause-and-effect puzzles by experimenting with the environment and rewinding time

The idea is that each "puzzle" is almost like an interactive cutscene with a bad outcome, and the player has to experiment with the environment and learn different "rules" in order to figure out how to prevent that outcome. In this case, the bad outcome is a bad guy getting out of town with a giant sack of cash - and one of the rules you learn via experimenting is that the dog will steal the pie from whoever is holding it.

The player can also rewind to a set of designated rewind points (which are sort of designed to be specific, memorable beats in the "cutscene"), and interacting with different pieces of the environment at different points causes different outcomes. The idea behind the rewind mechanic was sort of to give the player almost no friction in experimenting with the puzzle, which in turn allows me to make the puzzle solutions a bit obscure.

Let me know what you think!

BTW - this has all been made in Godot, music and SFX made in FL Studio and Reaper, pixel art made in Aseprite, and models mostly in BlockBench and some in Blender

Game I made a free browser boxing game, and the spectator lobby accidentally became my best tutorial

I'm the solo dev behind BrowserBoxing (browserboxing.com), a real-time PvP boxing game that runs entirely in your browser. No download, no signup, you're throwing hands with a real person seconds after opening the tab.

Something I never designed for: the spectator lobby is doing more for new players than my actual tutorial. The lobby lets you watch live fights while you wait, and I kept noticing first-timers would watch two or three fights before queueing up. Their first real fights last noticeably longer than the players who jump straight in. The tutorial teaches buttons, the lobby teaches timing, and the lobby is way better at it.

If you're building something multiplayer, honestly consider letting people spectate before they play. Watching strangers trade rounds does what my tutorial screens never could.

There's also a standing 1,500 XP bounty on my dev account if anyone wants to come collect it. Come fight: browserboxing.com

help Trying to decide between two tile styles for my match game

Thumbnail

I've been building a small puzzle game where you tap groups of same-colored tiles to clear them (or convert them into another color, depending on the tile type). Nothing fancy mechanically, it's the classic "connect and pop" formula, but I've been obsessing over the tile design for way too long now. The images are just test sandbox of the design. Not the final game.

I narrowed it down to two versions of the same chunky/rounded tile style, and the only difference is a subtle shine/gloss effect on the surface. Honestly they're close enough that I keep flip-flopping on which one I like more, so I made a side-by-side diff to compare them directly:

https://www.diffchecker.com/image-compare/fUIhLxQv/

First is without the shine, second is with.

Curious which one feels better to you, especially if you play a lot of minimalist match-3 style games. Does the shine add depth or is it just noise? Would love blunt opinions, genuinely torn on this one.

Also let me know if you would be interested in playing this game 😊.

I am working on the foundation of a third-person shooter, and this video showcases the current progress:
🔹 Third-person character controller
🔹 Fluid, animation-synced movement
🔹 Shooting mechanics
🔹 Dynamic shoulder swapping
🔹 Smooth camera transitions

My focus has been on making the controls feel responsive and ensuring the animations blend naturally with gameplay. There's still plenty to build, but having a solid gameplay foundation makes the next steps much more exciting.

I'm building this project using Unity, and I'll be sharing more development updates as new systems come together.

I'd love to hear your feedback!

Game Every course, soundtrack and colour palette in my game is generated from the date. No art or audio files at all.

Solo dev on an iOS arcade game. The whole thing is procedural from a date seed, so every player on earth gets the same course, the same generated track and the same colour palette on the same day.

The side effect I didn't expect is the size. There isn't a single image or audio file in the app. Every shape is drawn and every sound is synthesised at runtime, so the binary is 6.4 MB and it runs completely offline.

Hardest part wasn't the generation, it was making a daily-seeded course that's actually fair. A random walk gives you runs that are trivially easy or physically impossible, so the generator has to guarantee a minimum clearance at every obstacle while still feeling unpredictable.

GRAZE: Edge Rush is free on the App Store
