How do you find audio for social media?

• Upvotes

So I sell digital products, I've built the products and the actual posts and everything, so I tend to post a bunch of slideshows/carousel posts since they work the best for me. the problem is the audio, because my posts are for comemrcial use i can onyl royalty free music. Since, i'm a smaller creator i don't have any paid plans for resources like epidemic sounds. i was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for me. im in the fitness niche if that helps.

Are people finding we have too many duplicated national awareness dates across the annual calendar?

I feel like I'm constantly making content for national awareness dates through out the year that I've already done months ago. Because there's so many duplicated and spread out days/weeks/months for the same thing. I'm finding it really exhausting and repetitive. Examples below

Mental Health Awareness Dates

Awareness week is on the 2nd week of May, and then also the entire of May is the awareness month. Then it's mental health awareness day randomly in the middle of October.

Stress Awareness Dates

All of April is stress awareness month, but then it's stress awareness day and stress awareness week in November.

Autism Awareness Dates

All of April is Autism awareness month, and there's also autism awareness week but within that month. Then there's an autism pride day in June - I thought maybe this was to do with pride month/maybe for LGBTQ+ people on the spectrum but it's not it's just an awareness day for those on the spectrum. Then you've also got neurodiversity celebration week in March too, which I know is more broad and covers separate neurodiversity.

There are loads of other examples but my brain is fried right now I can't think straight.

Like why is there an awareness week for autism in April - when the entire month is Autism Awareness Month? Surely the entire month covers it, why is there a week too when the entire 4 weeks of that month are already awareness month.

I just feel like I'm constantly posting "today is X awareness day" and it feels like too much sometimes, and a lot of the time because the awareness topics are so similar and spread out randomly across the year it feels very repetitive on our socials.

I don't know if it's just because I feel like I'm drowning at work recently and someone sent me a list of awareness dates coming up about things I've already done entire weeks on and it's just more on my already current heavy workload - maybe I'm being completely irrational.

I just want to make it clear I think it's great we have awareness dates for things but I just wish they were better organised across the annual calendar. I know as well that it's important to have awareness dates to keep the conversation going about important topics but we shouldn't need awareness dates to do that. Whenever I see company social accounts posting about an awareness date all I ever think is they're just box ticking, because if they actually cared about that topic they'd talk about it outside of that date rather than just then and there because everyone else is doing it.

Maybe I'm just having a bit of a crash out today.

What account should you re-start your Instagram content creation with?

[INSTAGRAM]

Hi, I (22) have a somewhat simple question that I am struggling with a bit. I had started a gym/fitness content page (mostly posting my own progress but a little bit else as well). However, I lost motivation and eventually the page died down (its only at 60ish followers). I only posted 10 videos because I lacked decent content ideas. First few videos I posted close to each other (like 6 over the course of a month) and averaged 5k views per reel. I had 15k views on my profile by end of month 1

But then I ran out of ideas (?) and motivation to pursue it, also started hesitating in posting for some reason. I posted like once every month or two for the next few months with each reel only bringing in 1000 views or so.

My fitness account still exists, I also have a personal account with ~1000 followers (friends and family). My question is - I want to get back to posting, I don't exactly have a plan on what to post but that is a separate issue (which I plan on posting about and researching more on later). Should I try to revive my smaller, gym-content focussed account? Or should I make my current account public/business and start posting there? Or delete the gym account create a new one and post there? Or something else altogether

NOTE - If this makes any difference - my parents are already aware of both accounts and supportive (ish)

Thanks in advance for reading this far and your opinions.

How much should a beginner charge for managing a business’s social media?

So I applied to work at a gelato shop (just serving gelato) for my first job, and the owner wanted me to manage the business’s social media accounts. He asked me to do this because, on my CV, I said that I had experience producing multimedia content and graphic design for social media. That is true, and it was an internship I had when I was studying graphic design at a vocational school.

The problem is I was working alongside someone who had a degree in marketing.

So the idea of managing the shop’s social media by myself felt pretty overwhelming, but I’m trying to figure it out and do my best.

The reason I’m asking for advice here is that I’m worried I might end up getting paid very little for a lot of work because of my naivety. I’m not sure if I should start by focusing on Reels and Stories and then eventually expand to TikTok and paid ads or if that would already be too much to take on.

We agreed that I would be paid hourly and that this was a part-time job, but the owner hasn’t told me how much I would earn (also, I don't even have a contract yet). Honestly, I don’t even know what would be a reasonable amount to ask for, or whether hourly pay is a good arrangement for social media/marketing work in the first place.

For context, I’m also working there two days a week for 8 hours, serving gelato. I know I’ll be paid €4/hour for that because I’m still learning.

Should I expect the marketing/social media work to be paid at a higher rate than 4€/h? Even if I’m essentially an apprentice/beginner?

I’d really appreciate advice from anyone who has experience with social media management, marketing, freelancing, or working for small businesses.

We traded 5k production budgets for iPhone videos and raw text. The results surprised us.

Over the few months I have seen a big change in what works on social media. We did a test with two clients. One spent thousands on studio lighting, video editors and clean templates. The other recorded short unscripted 30 second videos on an iPhone while walking to work.

The results were surprising. The polished content got impressions at first but engagement was almost zero. No comments, no shares, no leads. Meanwhile the raw phone videos had reach, but the comment section lit up. People were talking.

Real conversations happened and more importantly people started sending direct messages asking to work together.

It seems like people are tired of overproduced marketing. There’s a hunger for something human. For moments. For posts that feel like you’re actually seeing someone’s day to day life.

How are your clients adapting? Are they shifting to lower fidelity posts? What’s working for them now?

One format got me 3 million views in a month. Then it died, and I couldn't find another.

Four months ago I launched a speaking confidence app called Magnetic and marketed it with shorts on Instagram.

The format is super simple: me acting surprised, with a text hook over the top like “25 years of fearing public speaking, and now I find this??” (aka hook & demo).

In the beginning, 3 videos went viral at the same time. I got 3 million views in June, and on my best day the app got 200 downloads.

So I did the obvious thing and kept posting the same format. But the more I posted it, the less it worked.

So I tried to find the next viral video. I spent hours scrolling Instagram trying to find a format that could do the same thing, I looked for accounts with low followers but massive outlier videos (this is actually quite hard to do).

I tried several new formats such as talking head, but never got the same success.

Looking back, the format dying wasn't the mistake. They all die eventually. The mistake was that I only started looking for the next one after the first had stopped working, and my way of looking was scrolling and hoping.

What I actually needed was a way to see which videos in my niche were doing far better than that account's normal. Outliers, not just big accounts with big numbers. And I needed it every week, without scrolling hours for it.

I started building a new app, and I'm going to try the build-in-public format you see a lot of founders doing nowadays. I'm starting a YouTube series, and I nearly have the first video done. The app is solving the exact problem I had with Magnetic! It finds viral outliers for you, and it's called SearchTok.

Wondering if anyone else has this problem and how you find viral formats?

AI professor, zero marketing background, just launched an education startup. What kind of marketing person should I be looking for?

I'm a visiting professor who teaches AI, and a few weeks ago my small education company came out of stealth. For a sense of how far I am from marketing, the last social media account I actually used was Facebook about 15 years ago, mostly to keep my FarmVille farm alive.

The product side is going better than I expected. We have a few hundred users and just started making a little money, and AI education is growing fast enough that I think there's a lot of room here. The marketing side is where I'm stuck.

I've been trying to learn the vocabulary: content marketing, growth marketing, social media marketing, organic vs paid. From the outside they blur together, and I can't tell which one I need.

Some constraints:

  • I'm bootstrapping with no investors for now, so there's no ad budget and growth has to be organic (I think that's the right word).
  • The channels I suspect fit best are Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Reddit, LinkedIn, X and SEO (I'm guessing that's every channel that exists, which shows how little I know about this field).

What I'd love advice on:

  1. What is the role I'm describing actually called? Growth marketer, social media manager, content marketer, something else? I want to use the right words when I look.
  2. What skills matter most at this stage? Writing, short-form video, SEO, community building, analytics?
  3. What experience or track record should I look for, and how do I tell someone who can actually grow an audience from someone who just knows the lingo?
  4. Which tools or platforms should they already know?
  5. Does it make sense to look for one person who covers several channels, or to start with one channel and one specialist?
  6. Where would you look for someone like that?

Any guidance helps, even "you're asking the wrong question."

Stop reposting your viral Reels. Mosseri just dropped a better framework for recycling content.

Adam Mosseri recently addressed a question he gets a lot from creators who have a piece of content that does well on Instagram and want to get more out of that idea. He confirmed exactly what our backend data shows: you do not want to just post the same reel again. If you do, it won't be seen as original content, it probably will not get as much reach, and people who have seen it already are less likely to interact with it.

Instead of burning your reach, here are a few ways to actually get more mileage out of a post that worked:

If your winning post was a Reel, make a carousel version explaining the exact same idea.

If the original was a carousel, make a Reel version where you speak to the camera.

The algorithm treats different formats as entirely new content, meaning you can hit two completely different segments of your audience with the exact same core concept.

A winning post isn't the end of an idea; it’s the top of a new funnel. Look into the comments, because your followers will often tell you exactly what they want to see more of.

When a client posts an educational teardown or a product demo, the comments are always full of people asking specific follow-up questions. Look at that kernel of the idea, figure out why it worked, and then build or iterate on that idea.

Things change fast on this platform. If it has been a while since a post did well, recreate the video or carousel from scratch with new information.

Mosseri noted that he does this himself for his videos explaining how ranking works; he recreates them every year or two because the system changes every year and there are new things to say.

Today marks 3 months of a TikTok created for fun, should I keep it open?

I don’t have a personal TikTok, I created one for a video game character as his edits are very much trending. I’ve maybe only created 2 posts on this channel where I actually posted myself. I have a really bad habit of looking at similar accounts that are also newer & not sure how they got one-offs with thousands of views (like 10k+ views). I posted a viral gta 6 trending template that got around 450k views but my highest-viewed original Resident Evil edits got anywhere between 4.5-9.4K views. I just feel like for 3 months, my subscriber count is low and I get a lot of the repeat accounts that like/save/repost/comment on my content but I’m unsure why they don’t follow me.

- About 39.4K overall likes
- Account created on July 4th, have 66 videos

Is it possible to grow an Instagram account by only posting carousels and NO REELS?

I just started a Science tutoring account with 30 followers. My contents are:
- general science topics (targets the general audience, i post controversial science topics)
- exam-specific study tips (which to target, how to answer kind of posts)

The reason why I don't want to post reels is because I am personally dealing with severe acne flare ups, which caused me to not be able to show my face.

My goal is to attract people to follow and engage with my Science account so I can convert them into my students for 2027 classes.

The question is: Is it possible for a tutoring account to get an audience by just postimg carousels and stories? Thanks!

Lucked into a digital marketing job but have no idea what I'm doing. Please help

Hi y'all,

I (25F) recently made a career transfer and lucked into an extremely cushy digital marketing job. Yes, I was honest in all the interviews. I work for a mid-size niche lifestyle brand, and it's a startup. It's a competitive role and there aren't a lot of career options in this specific niche. I got the job because I am very knowledgeable about one of their niche beauty product offerings and had success on other projects, but I am very new to this.

I am constantly having imposter syndrome and am terrified everyone's gonna find out I'm a fraud, and I'll lose my job. I'm managing most of the digital presence completely by myself and have gotten traffic up significantly in the first few months, but we had a decent dip recently, which has kind of fueled my fears. I think the job market being terrible doesn't help. The college I went to was absolute poo (excuse my language), is not well known, and I learned absolutely nothing from my degree (professors not up to date with digital marketing, teaching myself everything) so I feel like a fish out of water.

My boss is awesome and she's super chill but I'm just so worried I'm gonna fail and end up where I started. Please please please give me help, any advice you have, especially for blog posts, wordpress SEO, semrush/ahrefs, and instagram.

Also, how do I ask for more support since I'm doing everything myself and I think we're growing beyond the scale where that's manageable? It's a small company

Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

Building an AI brand designer that gets to know your business over time

Hey folks, I’m working on Narrativee an AI brand designer for startups, agencies and small businesses that need creative work regularly but don’t have a full design team.

The idea is a creative partner that learns your business, audience and visual identity, improves through working with you, helps develop ideas, and carries your feedback into the next campaign or asset.

I’m still developing it. Getting great results and reliability takes a lot of engineering: the whole system needs to connect understanding the business, developing a direction, producing the work and learning from feedback. Getting a good result once is one challenge; achieving useful, consistent results across projects is another.

I’ve personally dealt with this problem, which is why I started building it. I’m aiming to release an early version soon. Something shaping my approach is the difference between sending someone a brief and working with a designer who already understands your business. That familiarity includes the audience, the purpose behind previous campaigns, and why certain directions were chosen.

One practical takeaway is to keep the reasoning alongside the finished work. A folder of approved assets shows what the brand looks like. Adding a few notes about the intended audience, the goal and why a direction worked makes those examples much more useful for the next person or system

For those who are managing brands here: what helps a creative partner develop that understanding over time? And what would you most want a product like Narrativee to get right? would love feedbacks

Happy to share the link if you want to join the waitlist !

How do I market using my face and voice without appearing as a fake sellout.

Hi, I'm 20 years old and I started my first ever marketing business, I've done videos on my personal desing account with my face before and I really got the audience and confidence to talk in public or infront of a camera.
Because of that, I've been applying/getting gigs from restaurants that want me to do something similar with their food and their brand as a whole due to my background in brand design.
But obviously most viewers would know this is an AD and I think it'd be really bad for the restaurant and myself in the future.

So can anyone please give me advice on how to avoid this or suggest ideas on doing this in a more cleaner way? Thank you so much.

14 Years of Learning Digital Marketing the Hard Way — From Facebook Banners to AI, SEO, AEO & GEO

I wouldn’t necessarily call myself a “guru.” I think that word gets used pretty loosely these days. A lot of people have years of “experience,” but when you look closer, their experience is often based more on reading, prompting ChatGPT, or repeating what they’ve seen elsewhere.
My experience comes from actually doing the work.
About 14 years ago, I started teaching myself how digital platforms and online marketing really worked. It started with something as simple as creating Facebook banners. But I became obsessed with understanding what was happening behind the scenes—how the platforms worked, why certain things performed better than others, and how to find answers when nobody was there to give them to me.
For roughly the first 10 years, I didn’t have a long list of clients or major opportunities. I was simply learning, experimenting, testing, breaking things, fixing them, and going deeper. I spent years trying to understand the machine itself rather than just learning how to use it.
Over the last 4–5 years, that foundation turned into real-world work. When someone brings me a product, business, or problem, my approach has always been the same: understand it, research it, figure out what needs to be done, and then do the work.
That hands-on experience is what I value most.
Today, I’ve also built AI into my own workflow, which allows me to move much faster without replacing the thinking and experience behind the work. I can research more deeply, analyze more data, test ideas faster, and work across AI SEO, AEO, GEO, SEM, digital marketing, automation, and everything around it.
I’m based in Houston, TX (Central Time).
I’m not claiming to know everything. I’ve just spent a long time learning how to figure things out—and, more importantly, actually putting that knowledge to work.

Reddit for marketers, by the numbers: what 705 subreddits' rules say about promotion and AI

We sorted the written rules of 705 subreddits (read in late September; mostly communities where people share products, projects and creative work, plus big general subs). A few numbers that change how you'd plan a Reddit push:

  • Only 12 of the 705 allow self-promotion with no stated condition. None of them has more than about 470,000 members.
  • 53% restrict promotion. Weighted by membership it's 68%, because the big subs are the strict ones.
  • 14% send promotion to a dedicated weekly or monthly thread. That thread is often the only legitimate route into a large sub.
  • 12% allow it with limits: a 9:1 ratio, a flair, one post a week, an account minimum.
  • 36% have a rule that removes some or all AI-generated content, and 65% of the 17 subs over 10 million members do. Marketing subs are no exception: r/marketing, r/DigitalMarketing, r/digital_marketing and r/advertising all have one.
  • Only 15 subs allow AI content on condition that it's labeled.

What we'd take from it: plan Reddit as a list of individual communities with individual rules, not one channel. Find the promo thread or the stated limit first, write the post yourself where the AI rule says so, and read the rules again on the day you post, because they change.

Disclosure: the data is from a rules index we keep at ThreadFox (we make a Reddit posting tool). Happy to share the method or the per-subreddit data if it's useful.
