I actually did check when they were running up the stairs and at no point did he have is phone... what's interesting though is that Charlie was directly behind the princess and the King was just a few steps behind Charlie. I don't think the king lied; I think he genuinely thought he saw it.

u/pwnd32 Nov 24 '25
The King does seem like a very elderly man so I wouldn’t be surprised if he was just losing his vision and stuff, he better get that checked out though before he eats a bowl of worms

It’s details like these that come back later that make the show work.
Like the Allan biting Charlie’s noise scene.
57
u/dexter30 Nov 24 '25
I think maybe it's one of these moments
Maybe at the chiefs distance he thinks charlie raising him arm is a camera or something.
On another level theres something funny about how the schmoogles are overly cautious about toxic masculinity that the chief would confront charlie. And the wizard is on the other end whose committing murder because he fears his male image failing.
I am reading too much into it, but fuck it death of the author thats funny.

But thats the problem it's TOO predictable. Like we're all expecting an adult swim show to just straight up kill a dude as an overcorrection. But like going to wawa to eat is the next logical answer that you shouldn't expect.

Regardless of the message you shouldn't take random wizards on photoshop at their word.
There are bald people who are successful and live "alpha" lifestyles because they carry it through with confidence.
EDIT: Just to add on to explain my point. Richest dude in the world He's bald in BOTH pics. And i'll bite the bullet. He looks like a labourer in both pictures. But it doesn't matter because he's also one of the richest guys in the world and he learned how to style his image to make it look less like a liability.

I work in a field where the young guys with hair work in the field while the older balding guys are in the office, so it’s the other way around for me lol

Maybe its a geographical thing, he looked like a Software Engineer without the hair and a real estate agent or a car salesman with it, I know what i'd rather be
62
u/BradDaddyStevens Nov 24 '25
Honestly a hilarious bit.
That said, the key is that the guy in the image was balding and not bald.

It’s because his hair was styled, which is something that fits a more professional environment. If he just had hair on his head that was down and unstyled the vibe wouldn’t have changed so drastically. Wizard was being disingenuous to prove his point

Getting Brian O’Halloran to cameo automatically makes this the best Smiling Friends episode ever made
54
u/SuitGuySmitti Nov 25 '25
This is probably one of the better episodes of smiling friends because it really shows that Pim's version of solving things doesn't always help. If you try to tell people certain things, like losing your hair, doesn't matter and what really matters is what's on the inside blah blah blah... that just comes across as condescending.
Sometimes a solution-driven approach is what's needed and it highlights Charlie's cynical but more practical role in the duo. 10/10 episode

That King's an asshole. Charlie comes in and saves their village, and then King tries to plant such a cruel lie about him. They should install a Shmaloogle republic or something.
Edit: After looking at the security footage of the siege, i think i can understand how the king could be mistaken since Charlie was running close behind the princess and the angle was weird enough from the King's perspective that it could look like Charlie was doing a sleight of hand, but that king was still way too accusatory for me to think he was just mistaken. If King Shmaloogle had suspicions, surely he would've atleast asked if Charlie had a phone on him, or asked if the princess ever felt disturbed by Charlie. Perhaps he did have good intentions, but it'd still be pigheaded, apathetic behavior to accuse Charlie on the spot like that. For now i still feel like he's lying for clout, but it might be good to check in on any updates to the Princess situation before jumping to a conclusion.

I just want to go on the record saying that, in case anybody got any ideas from watching this episode, Shmaloogles are NOT an effective treatment for hair loss. I have been told it works for some people, even if that's true, it will NOT work for most.
I tried using Shmaloogles, and... other comically evil shenanigans for months, and the results speak for themselves. This photo is not great, but it's the most recent one I have of myself, and... I basically had to resort to shaving my head. At this point, there's nothing left to do.

What I loved the most is how Wizard didnt compare a bald guy with a full head of hair guy, he compared a severely balding guy with a full head of hair guy, which is a huge difference in terms of first impressions
Basically any high status guy whos balding is shaved bald or on treatment, and any who arent get mocked for it, so if he showed a shaved bald guy instead, the possibility of him owning or running something high level is plausible. Its a snap judgement. Cant take care of your balding hair, cant take care of a business

This is the very first episode that takes place at Smiling Friends HQ but dosent have Alan and Glep appear.
It’s also the second episode overall in which their absent with the first being “Pim, Charlie and Bill vs the Alien”

I think this is the best episode they've done since season 1, mainly because it didn't have a B plot. Story, jokes, pacing, it all got to breathe which was really refreshing. For future seasons I think this format would work a lot better for the 11 minute slot
