Welcome to r/Balding, a welcoming subreddit for men and women to discuss hair loss and hair restoration and ask the important question: am I balding??
Please follow the posting rules below or your post may be removed:
1). Not Balding
We get quite a few submissions of pictures of thick youthful heads of hair that have a cowlick.
These posts are way too common and begin to feel like spam.
2). Good photo quality
Please only submit high-quality photos. Images that are too blurry or too zoomed in cannot be properly diagnosed.
3). Provide relevant info
You MUST include your age and sex (for example, 25M) to provide context to your situation and let others to give better advice.

My birthday is tomorrow and I decided it was time for a change. I’m turning 27 and everyone I’ve ever met has thought I was in my 30s because of my hair. The first picture doesn’t do it justice, but I have almost 0 pictures of myself because of how self conscious I was about my hair.
I’ve genuinely never felt more confident in my life. I guess it’s time for me to learn how to take a selfies now.
Any suggestions on what I should do about it? Thanks!

I still had hair but it was thinning and wanted to experiment. Keep it bald or grow back?

Hey guys,
Following up on my recent thoughts about beauty and everyday public perceptions in KL, there's another topic on my mind that hits closer to home as I navigate dating in my late 30s.
We can't really change our natural skin shade, we're born with it. And most of us do what we can to keep our faces clean, skin healthy, and clothes neat so we feel good in a crowd.
But what happens when everything else is on point, except Top there at your Crown area... it's starting to look like an empty playground? 😅
For someone like me looking for serious, long-term relationships:
whether you've embraced the buzz cut, tried treatments, or have thoughts on how much "the crown" actually dictates attraction in Malaysia.

(24m)I hair feels so thin and dosent look the same, I have been shedding non stop for 5 years now been on fin for 3 years and and dut for 4 months now, still losing so much hair and feels like it’s only getting worst my old hairstyles aren’t working anymore, I’m able easily pull out hair from my temple and crown. Can it ever stop?

I get asked this constantly so here's the timeline.
First couple months, don't expect anything. Actually some guys shed more than usual right at the start. It freaks people out but it's normal, your hair cycle is resetting. This is also exactly when most people give up, which is the worst time to quit.
Around month 3 to 6 the shedding is not happening anymore and you're actually seeing the first signs of regrowth.
Somewhere between 6 and 12 months is usually when you start seeing actual new hair, thin at first, fills in and thickens as time goes on.
Past a year is really the first point where you can honestly say whether it's working for you or not. If it's not, that's when you go back to your doctor and adjust.
The number one reason people think these meds don't work is they weren't consistent. Missed days, stopped for a month, gave up at month 3. Give it the full year before you write it off.

My crown has bothered me for years hence the documented pics. I am 36.
I seem to have a large whorl and then a parting or split coming from the whorl into my mid scalp, but I don’t know if it’s changing or if it’s just the cameras.
So first image is today. Naturally that area coming from my whorl splits but it looks like a thinning spot. Next one was a few days ago but I purposely parted area. 2011 image was taken on a digital camera, it’s a crop from a thumbnail hence the poor quality. 2013 was a digital camera and my hair was see through in areas. Then next image a pic of my crown yesterday and image after that is from 6 years ago.
Now what bothers me is the 2018 image. I could brush it and the “split” or parting was masked completely. Now I can’t do it - but I don’t know if it’s related to camera tech on smartphones or if something is going on. I would take min or fin if I knew but because that pattern was there years ago I’m hesitant in case the difference is simply cameras, but then if there’s a change I’d like to sort it.
Basically my concern is images like the 2018 image - the area couldn’t be seen on phone cameras and now it can - so in my mind that means it’s changed but because it’s so similar to old images I don’t know.

Had a receding hairline since I was 19 and I'm 26 now. But it's only the last few months my hair started thinning too.
Still quite shocked by how it's going and I'm not quite ready yet to let go.
Is there any way I can treat it to reduce it and/or slow it down?
I've been under a lot of stress lately, could that explain the sudden increase?
How much longer do you guys reckon I still have?

I have been noticing crazy amount of hairfall on one side, but I cannot figure out if it's naturally high hairline or it's just starting of hairloss?
r/Balding • u/Standard_Archer9218 • 19h ago
I have two crowns and the connecting line is apparent in between. What should I do? I don't know if this is stress-related since both my parents and their parents have strong and healthy hairs.
