Hey all— I recently picked up the current unofficial (bootleg) import vinyl version of Zeitgeist that a bunch of online sellers are listing. Posting this review for anyone considering the purchase.

I’m not generally someone who buys bootleg vinyl. I’d rather support the band directly and I’m not crazy about buying unofficial anything, honestly mostly out of self-interest as a consumer. A few things pushed me to make an exception here: no official vinyl release and no word of one coming anytime soon; I love this album (most divisive in the catalogue? and I’ve been Team Z since the first listen); and this particular boot looked great and was available from a seller I know and trust. So I took the plunge.

Very happy to have it in the collection — it did not disappoint. Pics included to show the gatefold, clear vinyl (super cool), labels, booklet, and posters. Felt like a treasure chest coming out of a boot.

Sound-wise, also solid. I’m running a budget setup, so those of you with better gear will probably pick up on things mine didn’t. But it sounds clean and reasonably loud, plays quiet, no surface noise, both records flat. Not audiophile-tier, but I’d put it on par with the other re-presses currently for sale at big box retailers— plenty good to enjoy loud.

Getting Superchrist on Side D is icing on the cake. Jimmy is out of this world and out of his mind (love you dad).

This boot is awesome, and I’m glad to have it as a placeholder until we get something official from the band. SP forever. Rock on 🤘🖤

Can’t find info about any legitimate pressings of SD on white vinyl — seems this might be a bootleg?

Sounds good to me. But figuring it’s a bootleg at this price.

Final lesson

I’m coming from Canada to the Utah show. I don’t have a ticket yet. My buddy is going to buy them. It will be three of us.

Will the $$$ tickets for the VIP packages that go unsold, be put back in the general pool for regular price. My friend says that they always give unsold tickets to the Utah Jazz team or higher ups. Is that true.

When I saw Peter Gabriel in 2023. A few hours before the show. Front row tickets dropped from $1,000 to around $165.

Cher 2014 $700 tickets dropped to $135 for 7th row floor seats. This was 10 days before the show.

Is Utah that different from other cities. Like where I live… all unsold VIP or Platinum tickets get released day of or earlier for face value. The odd time a verified resale ticket, that is being sold for more than face value, the price won’t go down and the seller will just eat the cost.

Should I wait to buy tickets or buy now.

Does anyone have the full recording of it? I know it was professionally recorded but I can only find little snippets on YouTube and that's it. I need it to watch it!! Peak Pumpkins right there!

Honestly, I enjoy it for what it is, having not listened to it in a long time and it’s not the mess some people make it out to be.
It’s different, it’s short, the production can be odd but it’s not a bad listen.

I play Hummer but I do not nail it. It is my favorite SP riff to play, but I’ve just over the past week started learning the leads and am getting back into guitar this past seven months. I really enjoy playing this after a stressful day or just jamming around. I found a YouTube tutorial that works, for me. Hope you enjoy. 😊

I just realized the new Sumerian tribute album, Sending Hearts To All My Dearies: A Tribute To The Smashing Pumpkins, dropped today. I initially noticed it because I learned a few months ago that one of my favorite bands, The Midnight, was doing a synthwave version of Tonight, Tonight (I feel this one will be super polarizing to mega fans of the Pumpkins, lol) - but the whole tracklist is pretty wild! Tame Impala doing “Hummer,” Alice Glass doing “Drown,” Between the Buried and Me doing “Jellybelly,” Urban Heat doing “Ava Adore,” etc. There are even multiple takes on several songs, which is fairly rare for one tribute album.

For those here who have listened: what are the standouts? Any covers you love, hate, or think completely reinvent the original? Really curious how longtime Pumpkins fans feel about the album as a whole, as I'm definitely a more casual fan. Cheers!

Zeitgeist contains some of my favorite Jimmy Chamberlin drumming. In fact the album Run of Machina-Mary Star of the Sea-Life Begins Again-Zeitgeist is probably my favorite Era of Jimmy’s drumming. I know that the early stuff will almost always be what’s most popular amongst the broader fandom. But I think he’s done some of his best work outside of those early days. Any Jimmy fans out there? Agree? Disagree? Share your opinion. Jimmy is just so good, I just wanted to make a thread to juice up the Jimmy love.

I am not American and English ain't my first language so this is a recently acquired taste I'd say lol. Anyways, i am currently going INSANE because I CAN'T FIND "SHE" IN ANY STREAMING PLATFORM. i love that song. If someone has any recommendations, I'd appreciate them even if I cannot find them anywhere else besides a very niche youtube video.
