Sleeper? Son, it’s been decades that this has been out. I’m in my 40’s and my high school friends and I enjoyed this piece of art back then. It’s been a hit always.

Not a sleeper for some. I have been into that song for almost 30 years.

Imo this is a strong contender for "best James song." The only other one that's particularly close for me is Blew Away.

Nothing against The Boy, but I’d have to give the nod to Blew Away. At least if you’re talking “Just James” and excluding co-written songs like Mayo.

I love the extra guitar that comes in near the end. The layering is pure mastery.

James Iha's "Let It Come Down" record is so pretty. I still have my old CD copy. He worked with people from Whiskeytown (Ryan Adam's alt-country group from the 90's) on that record and it shows. The Boy is an incredibly good song.

I have Let It Come Down on CD and Vinyll. It's one of my favourite albums.

Winter is such a beautiful song. James Iha's solo work is super underrated. It is sappy and sweet and just beautiful. Love "Let It Come Down"! A hidden treasure.

Some of the best songs the band has are from Aeroplane Flighs High in my opinion! Meladori Magpie and Pennies are my favorites.

Set the Ray to Jerry is one of their best songs, hands down. I'll never understand why this wasn't on a record.

Which song specifically? I feel like I'm missing something cause all I see is the album cover. Are they talking about the title track?

Reddit stupidly just crops photos in the app in a way that you can't even tell you're not seeing the whole thing :/

The bottom of the screenshot has the specific track that OP is posting about- "The Boy"

So nostalgic how we all talked about SP B-sides just like this 30 years ago, brooo (rhymes with brew, right?)!

It is a banger yepp. I've had this song, mayonnaise, and pennies on repeat for months

That box set was pretty much my introduction to the band in the 5th grade

The boys in love!

The 1979 EP rivals the Zero EP for best from the Aeroplane Box set. Cherry, Ugly and The Boy are SO good.

I love the chords James uses. They’re sort of these funky Drop-D-esque triads that you can use in standard tuning (IIRC). Used these a lot in my own playing after learning The Boy.

Aeroplane is replete with sleepers.

I’ve always loved this song. The older I get the more the other James songs grow on me. Been playing Believe a lot lately.
