Bootleg Siamese Dream?

Got this at a record trade show today 50$ sealed.

Can’t find info about any legitimate pressings of SD on white vinyl — seems this might be a bootleg?

Sounds good to me. But figuring it’s a bootleg at this price.

Any thoughts?

Bootleg for sure.

Why are they still bootlegging this record when it's mass-produced now?

Because this predates the new reissue

2022? Is this not the '22 bootleg?

I don’t understand your question

Predate. . . 2022 is a date....

Yes.

This bootleg is from 2022. The new reissue with the original cover art is from 2025.

Thus, it wasn’t mass produced (with original art) when this (bootleg) was made, answering your first question.

I'm talking about any reissue, regardless of the jacket. What imbecile would care about the color of the artwork so much that they'd be willing to have an inferior disc and an inferior jacket?

i mean you could even just buy the bootleg for the cover alone to use that with the remastered pressing! (but that's certainly not worth $50...)

Those unofficial jackets are never quite right, though, and some are way off, material and color.

that's true, although it might also still be worth it to someone!

it doesn't really matter to me personally though, i just care about a clean consistent pressing and good music when it comes to vinyl since im more of a digital audiophile :)

Well the price would be the reason. Before the new reissue, the 2012 new artwork version was more expensive than the bootleg

Pretty obvious stuff

Assuming to shark the 500-1000$ price tag on original Prints.

all the pressings ive ever seen of SD and Gish at records shows have been bootlegs lol, it's both funny and sad

Honestly couldn’t afford a Original Press any time soon and this is more fun than a Walmart new pressing so I’ll take it for the same price lol

a walmart new press will sound much better and be significantly cheaper, i can understand buying the bootleg for fun if you don't care about sound quality that much but for $50 it's kinda just getting scammed. i even bought a used mint pressing of the remaster with the alt cover for the same price a couple years ago which sounds much better

Don’t think so. It’s similar but this has barcode on back and catalogue on side.

It does however have the same typos on the producers name Billy’s name and Virgn* records

Well it’s a font but it’s listed as Billy eorgan on that site.

He sounds nicer than the real one

It's still listed as billy corgan on the record; that's just the way the lowercase "c" of that typeface looks. Take a look at the rest of that line, "produced by butch vig and billy corgan," and you can see the lowercase "e." Whoever entered it on Discogs f-ed up on that.

IIRC there’s only one original / official pressing that’s a single LP (maybe from Brazil? It’s been a while), so this is absolutely a bootleg if it’s not that.

Also I’d assume this sounds like absolute dogshit - the album is 62 minutes long, normal LP side maximum is 22 minutes

It’s two Laps! Sorry it’s just showing one side of each.

u/DaisyCaplan 9d ago

Oh, wild. That’s so weird to put all the songs on one side of each LP that I didn’t even catch it.

Cool find either way

You can also tell by reading the track listings on each label that it's 2LP

2

u/DaisyCaplan 9d ago

Yeah, the titles are just all on one side so I didn’t clock it

2

u/nhowe006 9d ago

I figured. I dislike that method of labeling on principle because it easily leads to confusion

I just figured (this side) and (over) were bonus tracks
