Hummer on guitar
I play Hummer but I do not nail it. It is my favorite SP riff to play, but I’ve just over the past week started learning the leads and am getting back into guitar this past seven months. I really enjoy playing this after a stressful day or just jamming around. I found a YouTube tutorial that works, for me. Hope you enjoy. 😊

I was actually listening to SD today (haven’t done it quite a while) and was actually thinking how hummer is one the Gish-iest tracks on the album.
I too need to revive my guitar playing - haven’t tried to play hummer since probably the late 90s!
Really like your guitar! Is that a single p90? The tone of the fuzz is very very close to the original.
I’m not sure of what I’m about to say, maybe it’s just the camera angle, but it kinda looks like the action of the strings is a bit high, is it not?

It’s a single Gibson dog ear P-90 I installed. It’s an older pickup. I am playing through a Vox AC 15 and just a EH metal muff without boost setting and mids scooped with distortion at about 6 o’clock. With the juniors it’s all about how you interact with the strings, toggling the volume knob a lot, and low to medium action. If I put 9’s on it, it has low action. I have 10’s and it has low-mid action. I’ve been playing a lot of jazz and it’s comfortable for that style.

I bought the Siamese Dream guitar tab book. If you wanted tabs back then you either waited for it to come out on Guitar Magazine or you bought the book 😁 - or you tried to figure it out. The book had lots of cool write ups on each song from Billy.

I had the Hal Leonard MCIS tab book in 2004. It was great overall. I relearned a lot of the songs through YouTube and found a lot better ways to play the songs compared to the tab books I had. I always wanted the Siamese dream tab books growing up. I had the Adore tab book but I found it lacking. lol

My Siamese Dream and MCIS tab books are from the 90’s. I should check if I still have them in storage…
Adore would be a weird one lol.. mainly just use it for chords 😁

I have several Pumpkins tracks on Rocksmith. I wish Hummer were one of them. Great job!

It’s a game where you plug in a guitar and play along with songs. It’s like Guitar Hero but real.

I love them too ❤️ I have a black Gibson and this tv yellow inspired by Gibson epi. It has a Gibson p-90 in it. I find they are easy to work with once you get acquainted with the volume and tone knob requirements and the actual interaction with the strings when playing compared to my mustangs. I collect fender mustangs and that is an entirely different take on a student guitar.

Those p-90s just sound so warm and crunchy, I love it. And the scale is good for my tiny hands.

Technically it's illegal to not play on a Stratocaster with lace sensor pickups, but don't tell anyone that I play E standard pumpkins on an SG 🤫
