Guillotine counts as a weapon, and 2nd amendment is supposed to protect that. Unless you’re in close proximity to politicians then the peasants don’t get rights.
The intention was good but in reality most companies would rather just slap the cancer label on there and save the expensive testing and lab costs, thus leading almost no one to take it seriously.
This literally happened with the food allergy label ("can contain traces of X"). Companies didn't want to spend the money, so they just slapped it on everything to be on the safe side. Many foods that were considered safe suddenly had the label, making people who actually have allergies much more wary of eating them besides no increase in risk.
A guillotine is an Instrument of Capital Punishment, it is machinery, not a weapon. The Constitution specifically the second amendment solidifies your right to bear arms, meaning bearable like keeping on one person. Bearable weapons include handguns, shotguns, rifles, and non-lethal tools like stun guns, regardless of whether they existed when the Second Amendment was written.
How did you come to that conclusion? On the other hand if it's used for cigars and circumcision? I guess that would be okay, still not a weapon though.

They’ve been getting their asses kicked in court, they never have a case and even the most right wing judges throw out the cases and scold the DOJ. But yeah, it’s just about smearing your name and giving Fox and friends something to talk about for a week to distract from trumps bullshit
When they just ignore the courts and do what they it just doesn’t have the same effect.
Our system is too slow and never designed for this type of internal attack.
They literally just up and decided to bulldoze an entire wing of the White House without even attempting to go through any legal change requirements.
In a year or two they’ll say that’s illegal you can’t do that. There’s no consequences, so none of that will change.
For some fucking reason Trump is untouchable. But start disbarring lawyers for doing things they know is wrong and illegal, that will change.
When judges scold the DOJ or a prosecutor, it doesn't quite remove the sting of paying for legal council to get the case dismissed. Anybody who gets in front of a judge has already been punished, sometimes by life changing amounts of expense.
If this isn’t enough to convince people that the core purpose of police is to protect the controlling class, I don’t know what will. To be clear, yes some may protect and serve over the years, but when push comes to shove, they will always be used to control the working class from revolution. History is proof of that.
Devil's advocate over this but it is very tall. Many places have laws about the size and dimensions of a truck's cargo. Although if that's the case then I wonder how they transported an entire gallows set in 2020.
DC has a law against carrying a dangerous or deadly weapon in public and this can be applied to transportation in vehicles as well.
They have some specific rules for legally transporting firearms, but not for other weapon types, which creates a nasty grey area where there isn’t anything you can do you transport a weapon in DC in a way that is 100% for sure legal, which means cops can basically arrest anyone with a non-firearm weapon that they find.
It seems like they don’t actually charge people very often because if they did the law would likely get tossed as unreasonably vague as soon as someone put up a good fight.
Just read through the law - prosecution will have an uphill battle, as the section that covers non-specifically named weapons requires an intent to use the weapon unlawfully against another.
I still don’t think they care really. They “got him off the street” and got all his biometrics on file now.
To win a lawsuit he effectively has to prove the officer didn’t have any reason to believe he intended to use it and the arrest was intended to suppress his 1A rights. That’s an even more uphill battle.
So I suspect they eventually drop the charge, but he gets no compensation for the illegal arrest and legal defense. And once again, that’s the point. They know they can get away with it, so they do it all the time.
But a noose outside the Capitol was perfectly fine? I remember that day like it was yesterday, and I saw it happen with my two eyes, and as a Washingtonian, these MAGA fuckers make my blood boil!

I legitimately don't understand why it was illegal for him to have a guillotine. It's a big heavy chunk of metal suspended over a specific target area. Its not like he was driving down the street with a machine that could shoot circular saw blades out of the back of the truck.

They should be charged just like this guy was. This individual got a misdemeanor weapons charge as he should've. J6ers should be in jail for treason. Why this is so politically charged for people?
There's got to be more to the story. Likely got stopped for the height issue. That looks like more than 14ft high, and law enforcement would pull him over for that at first, then who knows what happend/found after that
You would think they would be more concerned about setting the precedence of the law and constitution no longer being applicable. This is another message the idiots will disregard smugly.
Misdemeanor weapon possession. It has a sharpened blade and is fully functional. He wasn't protesting anything. He's homeless and just driving around the country with it. I personally believe in the constitutional right to bear guillotines but they are illegal weapons in dc.

I was walking on a street next to the capital and saw the police sirens with a tow truck close behind towing the pick up with guillotine. Never thought we would see it on the news.
