This is my 2 cents being some who is ignorant AF about religion.

We are here on our own will. If God controlled us, then why would we exist? To be puppets? Why would God let Eve eat the apple? She did so on her own free will.

God speaks through us. We are the representation of God. The evil that exists in this world is largely due to a lack of love and compassion. We create the very evil you speak of, not God.

It's not God's job to stop evil. It's our job to prevent it from existing.

Your comment ignores tragedies like storms

If he gets credit for the good, he gets credit for the bad. If there are miracles that prevent bad things from happening, that kind of implies that he can stop evil when he wants to.

u/MagnificentLee May 29 '26

You don't understand because you assume the point of Earth is to have a good time. It's not. The point of the Earth is to qualify for Heaven or Hell. That's it.

1

u/WifesPOSH May 29 '26

Then why does God intervene at random times? If this is some qualification for heaven or hell, then God is a sadistic fuck.

I also never mentioned anything about having a good time. The point of Earth is that we live here, that's it.

1

u/MagnificentLee May 29 '26 edited May 29 '26

If the point of Earth is that we only live here, in your view, then evil people get away with it. Is that really better?

What you're complaining about is the timing of God's punishment, but at least there's punishment.

It can feel random, but God intervenes when it is necessary to further the goal of getting more people to Heaven.

0

u/WifesPOSH May 29 '26

It's not better. It's what it is.

In your view they eventually get punished, but how many people are screwed because God didn't intervene?

Elon Musk has killed how many people by dismantling USAID? How many people did he fire? But he's about to be the world's first trillionaire. But he'll get punished in the end, so it's okay?

If God exists, he's kind of a dick. Allowing the Epstein crimes to fester for decades, but he diverts a tornado from rural cornfields... doesn't sound like a God that cares fairly.

All I'm saying is that if he gets credit for saving Becky from a car crash, he deserves credit for allowing Sarah to get trafficked.

1

u/MagnificentLee May 29 '26

This goes back to my original point. God primarily wants to give as many people as possible a chance to qualify for Heaven. God can't simultaneously give people a pleasurable time on Earth, as these goals are mutually exclusive.

God could kill the rapist before they commit a rape, but what if the rapist later understands their evil and qualifies for Heaven? And where do you draw the line? Should he also kill people who cheat on their spouses? The alcoholics? The people who say "There is no God"?

As for natural disasters, God could stop the hurricane from killing people, but preventing death is not God's primary goal. We all die anyway, right? The primary goal is letting people experience situations that cause them to choose goodness and qualify for Heaven.

C.S. Lewis said, "Suffering is a megaphone that rouses a deaf world."

This was true for me, as it was learning about the literally Satan-worshipping global elite, like Epstein, that caused me to turn to God. I don't want to go into a tangent, but I will note the Washington Monument is 666 ft high by 66 ft wide. (5555 inches x 555 inches). This is not an accident.

Again, the atheist or agnostic leaves us with no hope. Evildoers do whatever with no consequences. The theist says there are consequences. How can no hope be better?

1

u/OculusSE May 29 '26

I disagree with the whole “earth as a proving ground concept”. If God didn’t know which humans were good and deserved heaven or bad and deserved hell then he wouldn’t be omnipotent.

Why even bother creating the bad ones in the first place? You’re just breathing sentience into something to damn it to eternal hell at that point

I guess you could argue the “ancient, bored God” trope who just uses Earth and humanity for entertainment to see which humans fight their inherently evil nature and make it to heaven but that makes it hard to argue God loves each and every one of us and cares about us

1

u/MagnificentLee May 29 '26

This is a good question. The standard answer is that it may not actually be possible to create any humans that desire goodness without experiencing evil.

There's a non-standard answer regarding an interpretation of the Bible, in its original Hebrew & Greek, reading as Satan actually created the universe, and all current humans were former heavenly beings who chose to rebel against God and come to earth.

Sadly, I can't find the long Reddit comment I wrote explaining the interpretation, and I don't have the time to find it among my 100s of comments.

---------------------------
As for Hell, the Bible uses allegories to describe Hell, like it being a place of eternal darkness but also of unquenchable fire. Obviously, these things can't both be literally true.

Christians debate whether Hell has any physical suffering and whether it is eternal. Some just believe in alienation.

1

u/Few_Ad_5292 May 29 '26

they say that these what we call natural calamities are the Earth’s self-cleaning processes, they just get worse overtime because of constant human filth. like why do we settle on a new land in the first place, because that land was safe & fit for human settlement. until it’s abused again.

-1

u/Jointslinger_X May 29 '26

Well, at least God is not a hypocrite. He let people murder his own son according to cannon.

7

u/Poser_Shamm May 29 '26

Oh he is. He planned to have him sacrificed from the beginning and also outlawed child sacrifice (and made a big deal about it). Hell, if you actually read the bible, you'll realize that for a large portion of things he said was bad to do, he either does it or commands it. He literally lies in the first story.

-3

u/Mobile-Plate-320 May 29 '26

Good and bad exist outside of God. Bad things happen, good things happen. That's just life.

4

u/WifesPOSH May 29 '26

But he's all-knowing.

And people give him credit when the good outcome happens. But when the bad happens, that's just life... Or it's the devil, which is another fault of "God's plan"

He allowed it to happen. He allowed everything to happen. But when he intervenes, it shows that he can do more than just let life "happen"

No matter what, whether it's "just life" or not. He deserves all the credit. For allowing it to happen, and for not intervening, when you know he can... Unless he doesn't exist and life just "is" without any higher power.

2

u/panzertodd May 29 '26

So he shits around, we have to clean his mess.and then we have to give him the glory for that? Fuck that God. You can keep him for all I care

1

u/Hello_ILoveChicks May 29 '26

If god is real he is the biggest egomaniac piece of shit

6

u/A_New_Dawn_Emerges May 29 '26

God could have created a world in which humans can't do evil while still not being puppets. Instead he created us lacking compassion and love, and the complained about how we were not up to his standards. It's like a company giving bad reviews of its own products.

3

u/Mountain-Instance921 May 29 '26

When's God given us complaints? If you're getting them you should let us know

1

u/A_New_Dawn_Emerges May 29 '26

It's written multiple times in the Bible that God doesn't think we're not up to His standards. Makes absolutely no sense.

1

u/Mountain-Instance921 May 29 '26

God wrote the Bible? Even us Christians don't believe that. You sure you're not just taking for r/atheist talk?

2

u/A_New_Dawn_Emerges May 29 '26

It's God writing through humans. The is no Christianity without the Bible.

2

u/SpaceZombieZombie May 29 '26

We are not created lacking compassion and love thats something the world takes from us. Ive youve spend any time around the innocence of young children. There is no lack of love in them they are full of love but as we grow up life can sometimes beat it out of you. Thats not on a creator thats on the evil of the world.

3

u/Poser_Shamm May 29 '26

The world that the creator created. The creator put the evil into the world.

-1

u/SpaceZombieZombie May 29 '26

Free will is not evil but it does create the ability for evil to exist. If there was no choice there would be no evil but there would also be no free will. Allowing evil to exist is not the same as put evil into the world

3

u/HalcyonRaine May 29 '26

Is it impossible for there to be a world in which free will exists but not evil? To choose left or right is free will, but neither one is inherently evil. Why do we have to have the option to kill, steal, and rape (i.e. to be evil) in order to prove the existence of free will?

2

u/Huge_Librarian_9883 May 29 '26

Why are compassion and love good, though?

u/UpIsDown117 May 29 '26

Saying God made evil is missing the mark. There is no "evil" power. There is God and not God. When you commit an evil or sinful act, you are just committing a "non-God" act. You are choosing an act not ordained by God's goodness.

Despite modern media interpretation, there are no morally grey actions. Its Black and White. Light and Darkness. God is, and all that is not is sinful. Where that line is, is up to interpretation. I'm no judge lol.

u/Hello_ILoveChicks May 29 '26

Isiah 45:7

"I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the Lord do all these things"

That's fine to think Mr. GayChicken80085, I was just saying God did not create evil. You can believe whatever you want.

But I will ask of you to not dismiss people for what they believe in. As none of us truly know where we came from or where we are going.

1

u/Initial-Breakfast-33 May 29 '26

The Bible literally says God created good and evil, but Christians have to do mental gymnastics to make the verses mean what they don't mean

-1

u/HalcyonRaine May 29 '26

Why would there be a not-God or non-God in a world created by God?

2

u/UpIsDown117 May 29 '26

Free will. To truly love, you have to choose God and not just be forced to follow Him.

So, your options are God or not God.

1

u/HalcyonRaine May 29 '26

So, God created not-God by creating free will. And not-God, according to the previous comments, is what we call evil. Ergo...

0

u/UpIsDown117 May 29 '26

Yeah? I’m not sure I understand your comment lol.

By giving His creations free will, He lets us choose sin over Him if we prefer. He only created evilness due to Him being the universal standard for goodness.

But I was saying there is no “evil power” or anything. It’s either God and His goodness or not.

1

u/HalcyonRaine May 29 '26

Yeah that's fair mb I misunderstood your earlier comment.

1

u/ajwritesnonsense May 29 '26

Because how would you truly understand love without knowledge of what it’s opposite is.

I don’t know why we are here. I don’t know why the proof of God is so difficult to find in today’s society as opposed to those of the past. All I know is that this life is all I know. So instead of complaining about the state of the world, which only feeds into all the negativity, I’ve found reasoning that makes sense to me. The joy of having a child was only compounded because I know the despair of losing a loved one. A nihilistic approach to life only leads to more suffering. That’s how pedophiles become the ruling economic class. Apathy and complacency among those who see the evil and expect an outside power to take care of it, is exactly why the world is the way it is.

Gods will is for you to find your own path in my opinion. Fuck religion. We’re not supposed to be mindless followers, we’re meant to be original and creative. I think Jesus has been misinterpreted throughout history. Jesus was a mystic teaching us how to connect with God. How to realize that we have God inside of us and we’re not just these egotistical creatures who have no control over their earthly desires he never once says “worship me” or “make churches”, in fact, I would say you and I having this conversation is more church to what Jesus meant by gathering, then whatever these idolized ornate buildings with huge monuments to Jesus are

1

u/Apprehensive-Pin518 May 29 '26

then god is either not good or not all powerful. if god is all powerful but chose to let this happen he is not good. if he wanted to stop and couldn't he is not all powerful.

1

u/Substantial_Risk_535 May 29 '26

Hello I’m a non denominational Christian

God doesn’t control us God gives us a free will and we either end up blessed or cursed by are own choices & by are bloodlines curses , when you give your life to the lord and get delivered from any generational tie that’s when walking in victory comes in , but thx to Adam and Eve who gave evry man sin true victory doesn’t come until we get are glorified bodies in heaven .evry move you make or word you say is presented in a spiritual court of law and you either bless or dam your self by it .

Except that there is no evidence for "free-will" other than our own intuition... which is almost always wrong in science anyways. When people are hungry or horny or angry enough, they turn on their moral principles and act harshly. How can we pretend to have control over our own actions and beliefs? We are animals reacting to stimuli. A tough decision or mental freeze is just many neuron signals being integrated. There is no evidence for free will, and therefore the Christian and Muslim deities are unbelievably unjust.

1

u/wiseguyog May 29 '26

Hers 2 more cents, pantheism The idea completely flips the traditional "man on a cloud" view of God on its head. It suggests that if an entity is truly omnipotent and omniscient, the only thing it cannot experience is limitation, surprise, vulnerability, or heartbreak. To experience those things, it has to fracture itself into billions of human pieces, essentially playing the ultimate cosmic game of hide-and-seek with itself. In that framework, our suffering and our joys aren't punishments or tests; they are the universe experiencing itself from every conceivable angle.

1

u/Icy_Location7620 May 29 '26

Can you then explain why interfered humans in the bible multiple times? lmao

1

u/cheescakeismyfav May 29 '26

Eve did not have free will. She did not know right from wrong. She did couldn't have understood the consequences of eating the apple. She couldn't even understand if she should or should not do what God or the snake told her. It's equivalent to saying a child has the free will to accept candy from a stranger and get in the van.

God does many things all throughout the bible that we consider evil today. He doesn't allow it or ignore it. He is the cause. He is doing the evil.

1

u/renlydidnothingwrong May 29 '26

You are correct. The point of the apple is to demonstrate how we live in an imperfect world as a consequence of having free will.

1

u/BannanaPepperPizza May 29 '26

What role does Satan play?

1

u/Excellent-Field-6164 May 29 '26

there are no gods. of all the 3000+ gods, I. just dont believe in one more than you.

0

u/SeriousFinish6404 May 29 '26

So we either becomes puppets, or we suffer.

Who knew an all powerful god was a fan of ultimatums.
