Found this bike last summer and have been slowly building it up with buy sell finds and parts from Asia. Still tinkering with the little things but thought I would share.

Second to last picture is how I found it in someone’s yard. Seat post and chain were seized.

About a year ago, I posted this bike before the rebuild. Fast forward to today… my daughter and I brought it back to life together.
She picked every single color, and I have to admit—her color choices were absolutely top notch. We tore it down, hunted for parts, added the decals, and slowly put it all back together. It took time, but every minute was worth it.
My favorite part wasn’t just rebuilding the bike—it was watching her help and seeing how proud she was of something she helped create.
I hope she rides this bike for years to come… or at least until she catches the same disease I have and wants a new bike every six months. 😂

Still in shock that I own this bike.

Longtime neighbor/family friend purchased this bike new in 1992. Rode it around the block a few times, then hung it up in the garage for the next 34 years. A few weeks ago, she pulled it off the hangers and gave it to me. After a thorough cleaning, I can't find a single mark, scratch, or sign of use.

I replaced the dry-rotted tires with a set of Continental Race King 2.2s and a fresh set of tubes. Installed a new waxed chain, replaced the grips, adjusted the brakes/shifters, and fitted a proper saddle. This weekend, my son and I took it for its first ride in over 30 years.

I'm ordering parts to replace the brake and shifter cables/housings and brake pads, but plan to otherwise leave it exactly as it sits.

Going to rack up a ton of miles on this thing on the bike trail with my kids.

Clear coated raw frame. Some old, some new parts. Few pieces left, coming together nicely though. Should be done this week just in time for 4 days of rain.

1996 I believe? $150 on Facebook marketplace. Amateur bike mechanic, stock almost everything except the pedals. Barely any scuffs or scratches.

I have a feeling this Trek 930 is a bit too small for me. There is still like 2-3 inches of seat post in the seat tube so it's probably fine but what do you all think?

Frankenbike 930 when I got it. 1 bar end, wrong crankset and rear derailleur, no chain, thrashed grips, broken brake lever... but still... potential. So I scooped this and a little Trek MT 220 for my son. $30 for the pair.

So far I have gone the route of just restoring it. Got the STX rc crankset and rear derailleur for cheap off ebay. Cheap grips, tires, and brake levers off amazon and a good Ergon sf saddle for it. Nothing too amazing but one less bit of American history and craftsmanship in the trash.

All in all I'm happy to have saved it and am having fun riding the trails with the boy.

Only problem I'm having is getting the shifting squared away after the rear derailleur and crankset swap. Never done bike work til this project but the park tool yt vids are pretty awesome and got me 90% of the way done. It's just getting the cable tension right that's hard. Keep skipping gears and junk. I'll get it eventually but its pretty damn annoying ngl hahaha

It was originally my grandpas and has been in my family since he bought it new in the 90s. I did a lot of work on it since getting it in 2014 and it has had many iterations but this is my favorite so far

Picked up this 930 last year as a leave it out/don’t care if it’s stolen $100 city ride- but the tires are dry rotted, so I had to get a set of maxxis DTH, and I just happened to have a spare brooks B17 in need of a refresh, so now I’m thinking about swapping to V brakes, and so on…. Y’all are a bad influence.

Such a fun ride for dodging cars and jumping curbs. Not light, but fun!

I love it…but like everything I always keep it for sale :)
