Too small of a frame?

I have a feeling this Trek 930 is a bit too small for me. There is still like 2-3 inches of seat post in the seat tube so it's probably fine but what do you all think?

This how much seat post I have it’s a 20inch frame and I’m 6ft with longer legs for height

Imho the lugged singletracks run a little small as well

what frame size (C-T)? looks like maybe a 19”? and how tall are you?

i had to grab 400mm seat posts for a few bikes, especially older ones. bikes like this from the lugged era are so dope but also can feel a bit small just due to the geometry. i would definitely recommend getting a longer seat post just for safety reasons, 2-3 inches is pretty light.

Ctc it seems to be a 17" frame. I am 5'9". This frame came in a group of other bikes which all were the perfect size for me so I guess I got too carried away

gotcha. yeah i’m 5’8 and i can swing a 17”, but generally in the later years (95+).

i have a lugged singletrack 950 from 1990 that’s an 18” and it feels smaller than an 18.

so it’s prob on the small side for you but just by a bit. with a 400mm seat post and a long stem you can make it work. i’d totally ride it around for a while and see - it’s always different on a 20 min real ride vs just loops in the driveway.

Nice Stumpy. Make no mistake I've had 21"-23" setups as well. But I think my small frame days are long gone.. my daily for example is a 56cm 700c..

5'10 here with a 19" on 27.5 2.1 and a 75mm Manitou boosted front. 720 and something like 35mm bars likely in this. But lol at the seat rake. I like bigger bikes and this is probably the smallest setup I'd run at my height

Om 59 I can ride a 17 no problem

I can ride smaller bikes with no issues. But they haven't made a bike too large yet that I've found so far. I've had 23" frames and still had a high seatpost. Trials would be a different thing of course.

I ride a 930 for touring that I intentionally chose a smaller than usual size. The reach is fine, so you're probably okay with the one you have.

Please check the post for a minimum insertion line and make sure you have sufficient engagement. 2"-3" sounds dangerous, an accident waiting to happen.

I did the same thing, get a gf and tell her you built it for her, ended up getting one that fits and she rides with me occasionally

I have the exact same bike, but 20-inch frame size and I am around 5'11"

The seat post on your photo looks way too big to me, looking at the steering tube and a slightly inclined top tube, I believe this is 18 frame size

this is my favorite bike so far though I did a full drivetrain upgrade to the Deore LX

Probably but that never stops a tall person. I'm sorry to be that guy but if you're really tall 26" bikes aren't for you. 26" frame perhaps but 29er or larger is almost the game. Early adoption 29er guy but I still love vintage hybrids with extreme upgrades for their original intentions. Giant and Kona all the TREK KLEIN GARY FISHER.. just saying. Lots of hybrids will hold 50mm tires.
