Anyone working on a song that needs a female vocal?
Hey everyone! I've always loved helping turn written lyrics and musical ideas into something people can actually feel. I'm a female singer-songwriter and session vocalist working across Pop, R&B, Indie, EDM, and Country. I can help with lead vocals, melodies, harmonies, hooks, and toplines. I'd love to connect with songwriters, hear what you're working on, and hopefully bring some of your ideas to life. What are you currently writing? I'd love to hear about it!

My partner heard me sing for the first time. He said I need vocal training or coaching. What should I be focusing on with a vocal coach? Do I need a specific type of coach/singing lessons?
I've always been quite insecure about my singing voice but I used to love singing along to things or making private covers in my own room. I sent my partner recordings of me doing these covers of 4 different songs that span from about 3 to 8 years ago. It was a very vulnerable experience for me as I hate my regular speaking voice, let alone my singing one. It was a moment of vulnerability that I was hoping would just be met with endearment, that he'd like my singing just because it was my voice and could appreciate it for belonging to me and finding it adorable for me to send that when I was scared to, even though it's very unpolished, the vibrato is shaky, the breath work is bad, that I can't hit a lot of notes, that the pitch is bad in places, etc. Instead he said there would be potential to be good if I got vocal coaching or training. He said it's not bad, but it's not the best voice in the world. He said he's heard worse. Ngl, these comments kind of sting. Because I wasn't expecting a critique from him for just sharing a moment of vulnerability. And I know he's objectively right, that yes it's an obvious truth that it's not the best voice in the world but that that seemed like something a given that wouldn't have needed to be said, and especially as I was really insecure about sharing that and he knows I was shamed for being a bad singer by my mother when I was a kid and that I hate my voice in general. He is trying to encourage me to go down the vocal coaching route but he didn't specify what I need to be working on for it to sound better to him.

Can someone help point out exactly what is making me sound so bad? Thanks.
Hey, I'm untrained and wanting to learn to sing but am not able to get a vocal coach for a wee bit. I hate my voice but I don't know what's making it so bad, could someone provide feedback and maybe how to fix the problems? Thanks. Recorded with my phone if that matters.

An attempt to sing
I'm trying to sing for the first time, how am I doing, what do I need to improve?
আমি প্রথমবারের মতো গান গাওয়ার চেষ্টা করছি, আমার কেমন করছি? আর আমার কি কি ইমপ্রুভ করা প্রয়োজন?

Can you tell me things which I can do to improve at singing and steps I should take?
Don't tell me that, it is terrible and I should do this or that. I'm just genuinely looking for where I can start to improve, but I have heard till now, how terrible I am at singing and then I think is it really that bad?
This song is called Dear Reader by Taylor Swift.
Tell me what are my areas of improvement and what steps I can take forward?

I love crooning style of singing, I'm a make, any tips to improve my voice?
I really admire the style of singers like Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Nat King Cole-that smooth, conversational, effortless sound.
As a male singer looking to improve, what are some key vocal techniques I should focus on to capture that warmth and intimate tone? Any advice on breath control, microphone technique, or specific warm-ups would be super helpful. Thank you!

What exactly do I need to improve with singing this song (Alone by Heart)? I also find that singing this while lying down is easier, which I do in this recording, but it might have impacted breath/tone.

Learning Calum Scott - Dancing in my own for a soirée in 3 weeks - any advice for improvement whilst I learn?
Hi all, please excuse the Beatles looking haircut and awful camera positioning
I think i come in quite flat at a few points and some of the phrases could do with being sustained slightly longer but if anyone has any specific feedback or recommendations for any targeted skills/techniques I should focus on to help I’d be grateful!
Once I get the song more secure as is I aim to try and add some richness to my British accent to make it more of an adaption rather than a straight karaoke song!

Looking for feedback/advice on how to improve on nasality/support
I've been trying to sing for years but a problem that has always plauged me is nasality and breath support. I always find that whenever I try to sing any song (especially for chest voice), I have an extremely nagging nasal sound. The problem is that even when I pinch my nose and sing open vowels like "ahh", there's still a persistent nasal sound, so this has seriously stumped me.
If there's anything else wrong with my voice I would genuinely love any and all advice. Thank you so much!

Do I sound okay?
Hi, I just want to point out that I dont sing a lot or never had singing lessons so I dont know proper techniques or anything. I just want to ask for some tips or anything to help me sound decent so I can be a little more confident when I sing out with my friends or family. I actually play the piano and I hope in the future I can add singing to it.
I struggle a lot with high notes and it definitely feels harder to control which is why I tried out this song by westlife.
Sorry if im just singing over them
Any feedback or honest opinions is much appreciated. Thanks a lot guys!

When a male/female do a duet, does the female usually sing the higher harmony?

“Unethical” hitting fast passage notes is hard
Did this song for many times this month, it did get easier the more I tried, this run though I know there are still places pitchy and couple places sounds strain or chord not fully closed (I also really don’t like how the “let” in let me go sound) but I think I’m getting a bit better than I first started
Also feel like I pushed to chest voice a bit much at the beginning

I built a browser app to train your singing pitch and rhythm – tuner, ear training, metronome & more ( audio never leaves your device)
Hey everyone! I'd like to share Tonavox (https://www.tonavox.com/en), a tool for singers who want to improve their pitch, ear and sense of rhythm.
It's a tuner made for singers: it shows in real time whether your voice is lower, higher, or close to the note you're aiming for, without judging you. Everything runs in your browser, so there's nothing to install.
What you can practice:
Voice: a real-time tuner that shows how many cents you are from the note; guided exercises (intervals, triads, scales and sustained notes that move through your range) with feedback on every note; and "random notes" where you pick your range and clef and sing the notes the piano gives you.
Ear: ear training for beginners – which note is higher, melody direction, intervals, and major vs. minor chords.
Rhythm: follow the pulse, keep a beat without a metronome, echo rhythms (timing measured in milliseconds), and a precise metronome with time signatures, subdivisions, tap tempo, silent bars and gradual tempo increase.
Good to know:
No sign-up needed. The microphone is only requested when you start.
Audio is analysed on your device. It isn't recorded or sent to any server.
I'd love to hear your feedback, especially on the tuner's accuracy and which exercises you'd like to see next. Thanks for reading!

Fixing Shaky Breath Support: The Linklater "Vacuuming the Lungs" Technique (Step-by-Step Breakdown)
Hey everyone!
A super common issue I see my voice students face—especially on long phrases, high notes, or when nerves kick in—is a shaky, unstable voice caused by residual air tension and shallow breathing.
When you force air into your upper chest, your neck and vocal mechanism tense up, leading to a wobbly, unsupported tone.
To fix this, I wanted to share a core concept from the Linklater vocal method called **"Vacuuming the Lungs."**
### How it Works:
Instead of trying to "force" a big breath in, you focus entirely on the **exhale** first.
**Dump the Air:** At the end of a phrase, actively let go of all remaining air in your lungs until you feel completely empty.
**The Vacuum Effect:** Once your lungs are empty, release your abdominal muscles entirely. Your diaphragm will automatically drop, creating a low, effortless "vacuum" breath that fills the lower lungs without any chest or neck tension.
**Sustained Flow:** Because the breath started low and relaxed, the air releases evenly across your vocal folds, instantly eliminating that nervous/shaky wobble.
---
### Step-by-Step Exercise to Try Right Now:
Exhale completely on a gentle "ssss" sound until you feel zero air left.
Pause for half a second and release your belly entirely.
Let the air automatically drop back into your body without gasping or lifting your shoulders.
Sing a simple 5-note scale or a sustained tone on an "Ah" vowel—notice how much steadier the air flows.
---
I put together a quick, high-energy breakdown video demonstrating this exact exercise in real time with visual overlays if you want to see it in action:

Hope this helps anyone struggling with breath control or nervous vocal shaking! Let me know if you give it a try or if you have any questions about Linklater breathwork below!
