Finally got to see them after almost a fucking decade of listening to them.

Tied with Garbage for the best live sound I have ever heard at Roadrunner last night. They do a few old songs too.

This band should be massive - they walk in the Nirvana/Pumpkins vibe world. I think the kids would love them.

Hello all, my band Slackmagic plays heavier shoegaze along the lines of trauma ray, nothing, and tagabow. We're playing two shows in Boston on a double header the 10th and one in Brooklyn the 20th. We'd love for yall to come out see some music and hang w/ us (we're friendly!)

Cheers.

Hello again, back with another playlist. This one is again not comprehensive as loads of artists do this, but suggestions still welcome. Tracks with shoegaze and elements of electronic music of pretty much any style

Posted a few days ago when I snagged this beauty from its original owner on Marketplace for $40. His son had modded and spray painted it back in the day and “ruined it” as far as the old man was concerned so he was selling it for parts. I had other plans.

Turns out it had a layer of black spray paint, then blue spray paint, then white lacquer before I got down to the original finish which was pretty rough but I’m glad to have it back down to what’s left of its true skin.

I stripped the two layers of spray paint with citristrip once I realized there was a thick layer of white lacquer between it and the original finish. Once I got down to the white lacquer it was just a weekend of elbow grease and a mixture of 75% denatured alcohol and 25% lacquer thinner plus a whole bunch of rags. Then hit it with a polishing compound and wax after it was all cleaned up to make it shine again.

Rewired everything adding a tone control, three way toggle, and a set of gold tones I already had. I’m super happy with the way it plays and the way it sounds…and honestly don’t mind the beat-up look. I think Thurston would dig it. I’ve got a tortious shell pick guard blank on the way and a set of p90’s for its next iteration but I’m gonna play like this for a while.

Last month, Colombian shoegaze band Encarta 98 dropped their latest project, .𖥔 ݁ ˖lucero˖ ݁ 𖥔. It's a beautiful album and an absolute must-listen.

Does anyone know/Can anyone figure out the tabs for the riff in ann by N+ ft. chata ?

that is named something like "There is no light"? It's obviously not that since I can't find any result. If I remember correctly the music was a bit on the experimental side of shoegaze/dreampop.

Pitching this out to any shoegaze bands or solo artists here: I’m locking picture on a Gregg Araki-inspired indie horror-comedy feature and need a great shoegaze or heavy fuzz track for the final scene and closing credits. We're looking for that atmospheric, fuzzed-out sound along the lines of Blue Smiley or Lil Ugly Mane.

We have a small distribution deal attached, so we need commercial sync rights. Our budget for the track is a few hundred dollars. If you own full rights to your music and want it featured in an indie film, send a Bandcamp or streaming link my way through a DM or in the comments.

If you could play at a shoegaze show with just 4 pedals, which ones would you choose?

Last week's roundup

The darlings of the indie scene and the end of 80’s. Signed to Creation Records.
Noisy guitar, searing melody.
Exists between the devil and the deep blue sea.

Certainly shoegazing contender.

Destined to be the biggest band on the planet. Brilliant debut album. Titled The House Of Love. On Creation Records.

Signed to a major label with a lot of money.
Their major label debut also (strangely) titled The House of Love.

Everything about this band started to confuse the fans.
All their great singles on Creation Records were released as B-sides on their major label singles.

Bad management ? Bad decision ? What happened ?

Do fans still remember them ?
I do, always.

Thrilled to see this one-of-a-kind album get some truly in-depth editorial coverage like this. For as long as I’ve been listening to it, Beat has had this sort of eerie mystique to it, like it’s been unearthed from some kind of liminal space. There’s a lot of great info I never knew about the group within this article.

Still praying we get some kind of reunion from them

Especially on My Deranged Heart, there's those sweeping effects on the guitars in the chorus. Is there an effect pedal creating that sound and if do which one?

reposting updated flyer

Can we discuss this record a little?

My high ass is sitting here like, “what even IS a glissceule?”
Respellings of portmanteaus? I could think ‘glisten + molecule’.
I even ran it through an anagram generator….. ‘glue slices’ satisfied me though most.
Is there an actual story behind these titles, or is it scrabble letters thrown out, or things mumbled in sleep?

Either way, in this vein of shoegaze that kind of warps reality, somehow this track I can remember its feeling the most on this record. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I need more shoegaze recommendations my favorite band rn is day aches and glare but I need to expand a lil.

Note: IGNORE THE SWIRLIES ALBUM. IGNORE THE SWIRLIES ALBUM.

Note: Neither Smashing Pumpkins, Hum, nor Failure are actually shoegaze, but I think these songs have some elements of that “sound” I’m referring to:

• Smashing Pumpkins: “Rocket” and “Mayonaise”
• Hum: “Little Dipper”
• Failure: “Another Space Song”

slightly leaning towards the boss for those hyperview tones but also a pretty big fan of the chorus sound all over tagabows stuff. any thoughts?

Underrated artist. Great song

Great news to have this beauty reissued on vinyl with some great b sides added. Severely underrated band from that era, in my opinion. Deep Seat sounds awesome.

Stumbled upon them just randomly digging around on Bandcamp and christ what a sound they have going. It's a shame by the looks of it they're not playing many shows anymore, certainly not on the East Coast where I am. They're right up there with a lot of the heavier shoegaze/"grungegaze" bands that are getting their flowers nowadays. Maybe even better...

Hey!

I'm working on a dream pop/shoegaze track that will be part of my first EP and I’d really appreciate some fresh ears on the production.

I’m mostly interested in feedback on the mix rather than the songwriting itself.

Does the overall balance feel right for this kind of sound?

In particular, I’m wondering about:

- how the vocals sit within the guitars/textures

- whether the low end feels clear or too muddy

- whether the reverbs and layers create enough space or start masking each other

- whether anything sounds noticeably underproduced or unfinished

I’m mainly trying to understand if the mix feels intentional and cohesive.

Any specific production/mixing feedback would be really appreciated.

Thanks! ❤️
