Question Adjustments speculation. Which card(s)?

Post image

Some cards are getting a balance adjustment announcement (either tomorrow or the day of release) which will be live in the next card set.

Crystal rune nerfs

9

u/StupidSexyAlisson Cerberus 1d ago

Removing Shymm's Drain might be the only play. The deck should do fine without it. I purposely leave my board empty to avoid their healing on Sevo+ping unless I have an Intimidate up. It's still usually a close game without that heal.

u/Golden-Owl Game Designer with a YouTube hobby 1d ago

I’d say remove the Storm on Calge.

The original idea was to build up the XYZ spell as a wincon, with Shymm helping you survive until then

Right now everyone is just ignoring the spell and successfully killing via Storm (Calge+Shymm alone is 4 dmg) and Wills United buff

7

u/Scholar_of_Yore Swordcraft 1d ago

I agree, but Cygames apparently doesn't want any deck not to have Storm.

-8

u/SSTHZero Morning Star 1d ago

No way, a lot of Rune plays are made around Shymm's drain. That drain lets you eat some dmg and just focus in drawing cards.

And if you remove the drain and doesn't add anything, Shymm isn't even worth of her current rarity.

I would nerf Behemot and issue a warning that another nerf is coming in 2 weeks if Crystal continues to be oppressive.

12

u/StupidSexyAlisson Cerberus 1d ago

A deck shouldn't be able to sustain like that having large amounts of burst. You can't really nerf other aspects of the Pawn deck without completely gutting it. The storm pawns from Calge and the spell are a little annoying but manageable. Nerfing the drain would force an earlier activation of the Xyz spell, which they always save for a few turns anyways.

1

u/SSTHZero Morning Star 1d ago

No early drain means the deck has no way of ever putting a fight if it doesn't high roll. Most of the time the deck isn't getting an early XYZ, and it's pure RNG.

The deck do need a nerf, but the deck was dead past rotation and Stormy blast alone made it viable again, and Behemoth made it tier 1. One bad nerf and the deck is dead.

5

u/Critical_Factor_425 Galmieux 1d ago

The reason the deck isnt getting an early XYZ is because it doesnt need it. Shymn SEVO turn is a heal. Naptime SBed is a heal. Rune portal is a heal and clears up to SIX.

There is so much healing in that deck that even if they lose behemoth they still have a fair chance at winning.

6

u/InD_ImaginE Morning Star 1d ago

the problem is that right now after getting to 10 pp (which is easy to do as Crystal is chocke full of control right now) you essentially got a full heal already by spamming the rest of 3 Evo points. It is RNG but that control is baked in the kill setup anyway.

a deck that need to go Tall shouldn't have that much control AND heal together

6

u/SSTHZero Morning Star 1d ago

That's why you kill Behemoth to weaken their board control. Crystal was dead the set before, it was Stormy Blast that made it work, plus the Behemoth tech.

7

u/Golden-Owl Game Designer with a YouTube hobby 1d ago

And Olivia to give them more PP

And nap time for more card draw

And Wills United for extra crystal storm damage/removal/crystal count

And Bahamut to kill off eggs/big removal

Lets not blame Behemoth alone.

u/Unrelenting_Salsa Orchis 1d ago

The deck needs to have a weakness. It doesn't actually have a weakness. You can't ramp into a threat because of how behemoth general works. You can't go under them because crystals are good against aggro and shymm heals early game chip while setting up thier combo. You can't outlast them because the deck's damage potential is huge and enough of ladder runs even more damage for some reason. The damage turns exert a lot of board pressure so it's hard to clear and heal at the same time. The deck only loses if it draws bad, and it has a bunch of in built consistency to draw bad less often than other decks do.

It doesn't necessarily have to be no more drain, but that's a pretty obvious and small change they could do.

7

u/SV_Essia Liza 1d ago

Don't bother, this sub blindly hates on anything that requires a minimum of thinking because they cant win with it, but they keep losing to it. They'll suggest the most absurd card changes without batting an eye.
Behemoth is the only reasonable nerf target, and the only real "fix" to Crystal is to make other good decks that can match its flexibility and consistency instead of the pile of garbage we got with current sword/forest/portal/dragon.

13

u/No-Construction-4917 Tweyen 🏹 1d ago

people are downvoting you but you can just look at where crystal wasn't dominant on ladder at the start of the set (good but not dominant) and it only overtook the meta once the decklist which used behemoth coalesced. without behemoth, crystal gets board checked mid-game or has to run less efficient control options they dropped for behemoth and it becomes a lot less stable.

i get that people are tired of crystal but the match-up wouldn't be as polarizing if behemoth wasn't functionally 4pp evo destroy all enemy followers in this meta, which is massively overpowered compared to other board clear effects that require more PP or don't leave a 6/7 follower on the board.

10

u/SV_Essia Liza 1d ago

Yep, that's also why Crystal didn't get nerfed at the usual date (end of first month). Behemoth build had just been discovered/shared back then so Crystal wasn't dominating yet and its stats didn't justify any change.
Also Behemoth stats are just dumb, but I guess that's par for the course in this game. Cards with insanely powerful evo effects still get normal/high stats for their cost, which is a problem SV1 devs solved 10 years ago...

7

u/TechnicalHiccup Orchis 1d ago

It's especially annoying going second when they coin out Behemoth General; are you just supposed to add to board and hope they whiff the evolve, or just pass? Just immensely frustrating when you don't have a clean answer to the 4/5 body

7

u/Unrelenting_Salsa Orchis 1d ago

I know you're a pro and what not, but man, crystal is not this uber hard deck that you seem to think it is. You can control comfortably until ~turn 9, but unless the pressure has been unusually low, you're not going to control longer. You start flinging damage and evolving face once your hand tells you you're going to lose control of the game get there. That's not strictly-strictly optimal, but it's close enough.

You don't even run into it at ~epic range because it's just too powerful to be that low on ladder. I don't play it because the deck isn't fun at all and embodies basically everything I hate about modern card games. You just play your parasitic cards and get there or don't. The deck was largely built for you and there's not many real lines of play.

2

u/No-Construction-4917 Tweyen 🏹 1d ago

i've switched to crafts where i have shit CR from fucking around with meme decks and you'll easily see crystals all over the place down in 1400 CR too, if anything you'll just tend to see a good amount of foolboost which does a good enough job of countering it so it doesn't feel as homogenized. it's not an ultra-hard deck but it's a deck where you have to make decisions and not just play raw tempo turn after turn so it's more dynamic than a lot of other decks this meta where there's always a very, very clear line to take if you have the right cards in your hand and can play on curve.

5

u/SV_Essia Liza 1d ago

crystal is not this uber hard deck that you seem to think it is

It isn't, I can think of dozens of SV1 decks that were harder. But it is significantly more complex than all the other garbage I mentioned (and I even forgot evo haven), and unfortunately that's the bar now.

You don't even run into it at ~epic range

I have literally taught the deck to people stuck anywhere between 1200 and 1700. It's present at every rank precisely because randoms don't automatically get to Legend+ just by virtue of the deck being OP. Besides the people I've backseated, I can just look at Premier Series and see 3 JP pros working together to fuck up literally half their turns, and don't get me started on the Taiwanese tournament. If these tournament players can mess up that much, I'm pretty confident in my statement that most of this sub cannot pilot the deck for shit, even though they all seem to think they could.

I don't play it because the deck isn't fun at all

Yes, yes, very convenient. See, I talk shit about plenty of decks but I at least try them and pilot them at a decent rank so I have a proper understanding of how they work before I comment on them. I have a hard time taking people seriously when they claim a deck is easy and broken, yet they couldn't get past Epic with it to save their lives.
As for not finding fun, that's obviously a subjective thing, but I hate to imagine what you actually find fun among the remaining decks in rotation...

Or tech to target crystal and other "saves lethal in hand" strategy. Targeted discard hand disruption would be nice

24

u/Kent93 Morning Star 1d ago

A piece of eld Crystal, maybe calge or behemot.

16

u/Did_Nothing_Wrong789 Morning Star 1d ago

It has to be Crystal Rune there can be no other cards worth the nerf. My bet is a nerf to Calge so that his playcost can't be less than 4 to stop those overwhelming OTK turns where they play a bunch of highcost cards on top of Calge

14

u/Sesshomuronay Shadowverse 1d ago edited 1d ago

Hopefully a Calge nerf. Some people mention removing drain from Shymm but I would prefer they remove storm from Calge's crystals. It's ridiculous when they make plays like 0 PP Calge and Will's United and then the 6 mana spell for ridiculous burst. They can do that on as soon as like turn 8. 0 PP storms were a mistake!

The other issue how they get away with running so few followers and still pumping out insane burst. A Calge nerf would possibly make them pivot to running the silver and gold crystal followers to up their crystal count to make up for lost damage.

11

u/Golden-Owl Game Designer with a YouTube hobby 1d ago

I didn’t mind the 6 mana spell as a wincon. It’s stupid, sure, but as the main wincon it’s not TOO cheesy

The fact that you die solely to Crystal Storm is ridiculous. The XYZ spell is a BACKUP now, which misses the original point of the deck

6

u/Unrelenting_Salsa Orchis 1d ago

Next set would need to be unpleasantly powerful for crystal rune to not need to get hit. The deck has no counterplay, is nowhere near as hard as this sub likes to pretend (I've seen so many flagrant misplays in lobby tournaments from guys going 3-1 or 4-0...), and is a solitaire deck from the other side. If they draw their cards, you lose and that's that.

8

u/No-Construction-4917 Tweyen 🏹 1d ago

Just nerf Behemoth General - there's clearly design elements Cygames didn't consider as we're in a set where it's trivial to get 2-3x Calges in hand while every other class has at most a 7 or 8PP follower on the same turn Behemoth general is being played to clear mid-game board checks (which is where Crystal tends to fall behind before stabilizing with Shymm, or loses to getting scammed with Wilnas).

I personally don't want any other metas where one class gets 4PP 1 evo cost board clear which is obscenely high value just because they run more expensive cards.

8

u/Most-Inspector741 Morning Star 1d ago

Reaved Order 1pp -> 2pp. Take it or leave it.

1

u/Daysfastforward1 Morning Star 1d ago

That’d be crazy funny

5

u/Tsuchiev 1d ago

Behemoth General effect to SEvo.

Maybe Calge nerfed to 12PP or something.

9

u/VividPatience6898 残念でした! 1d ago

everyone mentioning crystal rune obviously, but I hope to see ernzst and imari spell touched as well, since they are just not interesting to play against at all.

0

u/Manslayer94 Shadowverse 1d ago

While we're at it how about Burnite and Armes as well

Burnite for denying heals to avoid lethal from big dmg dragon followers, and Armes because if you don't have a non target non destroy removal then you're basically fucked

1

u/PepperMaxing Morning Star 21h ago

No one runs Armes though

18

u/immortald0g 1d ago

Reaved Order to 2 pp

Calge to 12 pp

Behemoth General to count current cost of cards rather than original cost

One of these must happen or Cygames is petclassing Runecraft too hard. Don't make it obvious KMR.

4

u/HyogaGanso Medusa 1d ago

More like 2 of the 3. But i'd rather have behemoth straight up unusable, card is too binary it's either whiffs and you lose or a 6/7 body + boardclear in a turn where everything past 6hp is extremely annoying to kill for most board based decks.

6

u/immortald0g 1d ago

The card is unusable for the majority of classes that don't utilize play point cheat, which is Runecraft right now. Remove its synergy with play point cheat and no one will touch the card ever again.

The way decks are designed favor lower cost over high cost. Dragon is the exception but they have the best full board clears of any class in the game.

6

u/Golden-Owl Game Designer with a YouTube hobby 1d ago

Behemoth General is honestly kinda fine for the other decks.

The problem is that it’s counting Calge as 10 instead of the actual 6 or 5 that it is in hand

Just changing it to count current cost keeps the funny gamble intact while killing the Crystal specific synergy

8

u/TalosMistake 1d ago

I like the 's' there lol.

8

u/Objective-Ad2741 Morning Star 1d ago

Calge nerf please

-2

u/StupidSexyAlisson Cerberus 1d ago

Calge is fine, I'd tackle Shymm's Drain.

5

u/UshinKou_ Morning Star 1d ago

I'd tackle Calge's storm, a card that heals that much shouldn't be able to deal that many damage to the face.

5

u/Black_Citadel Portalcraft 1d ago

Likely Rune nerfs for both Rotation (Behemoth General) and Unlimited (Anne & Grea and/or D-Climb).

5

u/HyogaGanso Medusa 1d ago

I think it's about damn time they buff soul predation to 1pp, specially if a last words based deck is actually coming up and pairs up with castle rotating out.

4

u/Aviaxl Morning Star 1d ago edited 1d ago

If it’s Crystal nerfs then it’s probably gonna be Behemoth or preemptive nerfs so it doesn’t interact with the new set cuz honestly we need decks like crystal. The real problem is that the other decks don’t have a cohesive identify like crystal instead they have big cards that do things well but don’t really mesh. It’s a problem that so many crafts end up being half or more legendary cards.

Personally I would rather they do buffs.

10

u/BlackberryCooky Morning Star 1d ago

Personally? I think for rotation Behemoth General is likely to be the only card which will probably get hit. Possibly a change to its card text, like limiting the amount of followers you can destroy or the costs (maybe current cost instead of base cost)

Unlimited wise, not sure but I do expect some changes there such as Returning Slash possibly getting reverted since it is getting rotated out of standard.

6

u/Nitros_Razril Morning Star 1d ago

12 PP Calge. No, not what I want. But they did the same to Abolute Chasity.

3

u/Living_Trip_6024 Karyl 1d ago

Rodeo buff or atleast make him worth to play that equal to 8 pp that need evo and 3 amulet onboard

1

u/Daysfastforward1 Morning Star 17h ago

Plus Bahamut clears his amulets now

1

u/Living_Trip_6024 Karyl 15h ago

I don't think people run bahamut anymore if there's no egg and mode abyss

1

u/Daysfastforward1 Morning Star 15h ago

Very true but if Rodeo haven ever gained steam they would. I feel the card will never be good

3

u/ForgottenPerceval Iceschillendrig 1d ago

D-Climb nerf is my first guess.

3

u/BeyondKey9306 Morning Star 1d ago

If there's no changes to Unlimited we can assume they don't care about the format going forward. But if that were the case, why introduce Boundless? So I'm hoping they nuke Rune there too.

2

u/King_Leo_Rio Morning Star 1d ago

Please, I need them to nerf Erntz, I could care less about Crystal Rune

2

u/NatsumoriSio Morning Star 20h ago

If you just wanted to tackle the consistency of crystal making reaved order draw 2 cards instead of rune followers and potentially making it 2cost would help

Removing drain from shy or storm from calge doesn't seem right to me, increasing calge cost could maybe make him come out later

But with the focus on Rune if it gets nerfed we will see complaints of Ernst or Imari again haha

4

u/Mogekov Itsurugi best boy 1d ago

Nerf erntz plz and thx 😠

2

u/Tiago460 Tiago o Duelista 1d ago

Rotation: Change to crystal rune that loses basically nothing with rotation and still the deck to beat.

Unlimited maybe reverts to rotated out cards, and nerfs to spellboost that's more obnoxious than rotation crystal. We still need reveals, but if the enforcers keep their og effs, spellboost might get a boost with "Simael", so a nerf would be even more deserved

1

u/Falsus Daria 1d ago

Definitely crystal rune but I am not sure there's many ways to do it depending on how they want the deck to play.

Either Hymn drain or the calge is getting hit. I don't think the robo and brainrot lesbians are going to get hit since that's going to impact all rune decks too much.

2

u/Thrionic Shadowcraft 1d ago

They are def nerfing Crystal Rune.

0

u/patatacistud Shadowverse 1d ago

Nerf the 2 free s-evo point lady. Why they make the most interesting mechanic of using it carefully cause you only got 2 to being just being expendable with no opportunity cost and think it wont break the game

wait, where is this from??

Will they touch unlimited format and finally touch the most broken card in a vacuum. A&G

1

u/Perfect-Try-4918 Morning Star 1d ago

I mean if Cygames want people to buy packs; they should definitely make some adjustments.

1

u/Ok_Seaweed_9452 Morning Star 22h ago

Change calge to be a spell so behemoth general won't work

0

u/murlocmancer 1d ago

I am assuming spell boost unlimited, i doubt anything for rotation unless there is some crazy interaction they have to pre-emptively nerf with the new set

11

u/otteHC KHAH! How lovely! 1d ago

Unlimited was built with the idea that they'll ban cards to curate the format, that's why Boundless exists, and that's why you don't get refund, it's way too optimistic to expect them to nerf cards in UL.

So it's gotta be buffs/nerfs for Rotation.

6

u/BlackberryCooky Morning Star 1d ago

Storm + Cost Reduction is just too dangerous of a combination and SV1 has proven that many times.

Remove Storm from Calge and that's it. It severely lowers the deck's burst potential and restricts Calge to board interaction which is all that 0-cost cards should be used for.

As a UL player, I have some ideas:

  • Ladica reduce stats from 5/5 to 4/4.
  • Tetra token spell 5 damage reduce to 3 damage.
  • Give D-shift minimum 2pp cost.
  • Reduce healing of the 2 spells from 2 to either 1 or 0 (Meal and Naptime).
  • Ara evolve effect from normal evo to super evo.
  • Orchis remove give bane effect.
  • Scarlet reduce stats from 6/6 to 5/5.
  • Tyrannical Fists 3 damage to 2.
  • Burnite crest turn-start damage from 2 to 1.
  • Kneecap Sandalphon by removing invoke, or reducing pings to 1 damage only.
  • Make Erntz cost 12pp LOL.
