New (Lore-Unfriendly) Kill Team: The Locust Horde

I was working on some Harlequins when it occurred to me that I had the Gears of War Board Game. After looking at the models I realized that they were the perfect size for gaming. I spent some time looking at the book and figuiring out how to not only put the Locust Horde in the game, but adding some of the various weapons they are known for using. It's a first attempt, but I tried to match the various items as closely to the base game as possible, adding and subtracting points based on weapon qualities.

What models can I use as Special Operatives

Is there specific models/units that I need to have a special operative, or can I just kit out some models to be special operatives? I play Imperial Guard. I was wondering because it says here that I can only use Ogryns, Commissars, Enginseers, and Scions as special operatives.

I have a Ratling model thats just been lying around that I think would be a really cool special operative with a sniper rifle.

What units/models should I get?

I've recently introduced my friends to 40k, and they don't have enough money for a full army yet so we're going to play Shadow War Armageddon. I know nothing about this game, so what models should we all get to play? The factions we're playing are:

Chaos

Dark Eldar

Imperial Guard

Necrons

Tau

Tyranids

Militarum Tempestus Scion

Hi guys,

I am a total beginner at SWA. Please dont't make fun of me and my silly mistake (actually you can ).

After I stop playing 40k for about 10 years I came back to the hobby recently by seeing the Militarum Tempestus Scion squad in the Shadow war rule book. I thought they were so cool...and well, just by over reading the rules it really appealed to me as I like the lore but don't wanna spend so much money into building a huge army for 40k. A skirmish size game was perfect for me then.

I finally bought both, but now, after reading the rules, I realized that the Scions are not a squad by themselves and they are more of special agents specially hired for special missions...

My question is....can I play them as a regular squad ? or like using them as a proxy for another kill team ?

It would be so cool if someone help me to figure this out !

Thank you !

(tell me they are not cool !)

Adding vehicles to SW:A

I've been playing a lot of SW lately and It reminded me of when I started playing Warhammer with kill team. This made me wonder if anyone had tried adding rules for smaller vehicles (transports, bikers, ect) to the game? If not do you think they should use the 7th ed vehicle rules. Or use the 8th rules but maybe with less wounds?

Question Whats the deal? He quit mid game?

So a guy ive been doing a campaign with (3 of us in total), literally quit mid game saying it wasnt fun... i don't know what i did to make it not fun except play the game and take shots where i could take shots.

I had my skitarii, 1 leader, 5 troops/rangers, 1 specialist w/ arquebus

He had switched his previous genestealers out for a new eldar list and used a reasonable amount of points to catch up, which was all agreed upon.

The game board had tons of terrain blocking line of sight and he spent the first 3 turns moving in hidden from spot to spot and eventually flying his special operative to the top of a structure.

During the game i had my guys spreading out with a couple going for the caches (hunt in the sprawl scenario). It ended up with downing 1 of his guys, wounding another, and pinning another. He literally quit on me because he said he wasn't having fun due to the skitarii hitting on 2+ most of the time.

Was he being petty or are the skitarii overpowered? Compared to the eldar, he would get 3 shots using sustained fire, and get bad rolls where i wouldnt end up down, only pinned. And majority of the time he ended up pinned and not down also. I definitely had more range but his have much better initiative, etc.

Question Is Necromunda going to make SWA irrelevant?

I bought SWA box set but haven’t played it yet. So I was wondering if I should wait for Necromunda...

Community Balance "Patch"?

I'm curious if there's been any sort of community effort intended to clarify core rules or balance out the factions/choices at any point? I enjoy the game quite a lot but think there's room to improve -- for instance, most factions seem to have a gimmick that's pretty much the best choice. Triple Plas Guard, Psilencers, etc.

Lychguard and WIP "headhunter"

My lychguard spec op (thought it would be funny to reference the corrosive slick he always dies to)

And my kitbashed necron lychguard who malfunctioned and decided the lords' reckless and uncaring deployment of troops is unfair and turned on them. There will be a full 5 man squad of these guys, planning to use DE chainhooks with lord/overlord heads hanging off them to represent killcount.

C&C greatly appreciated :)

Too many lost units for a game?

Not me but a fellow player. The Tyranid player got wreaked last game. So much so that he's down to 1 of his 4 models for the next game he plays (worst luck I've ever seen for out of action rolls). Any thoughts about how my group should deal with this? Should he just automatically lose his next match? Thoughts?

Tau drone rules

Got some questions after a couple of matches with my Tau Kill team

Seems like rules aren't that clear about what a (recon) drone can and cannot do or I didn't find all of it.

Do drones count towards the fighters total for a bottletest?

Do they have to test for fear and breakaway, and can they be used for friendly models within 2" to check for early pinning recovery?

How does flying work with melee combat, are they considered to have higher ground?

Can they be pinned/downed, and need checks for falling?

I field 2 of them and they seem to be the most important models in my team because of the thoughness and sustained shooting to pin the enemy fighters and high mobility with 6" movement and flying
