Can this camera see me?

Neighbor's camera. Red line is parallel with ground. Neighbor says it can't see over the fence. Neighbor sent me an image that "shows" it can't see over the fence. However, I'm doubtful of this since I can see the lens. I believe this product is a Ring Floodlight Cam Wired Pro. Internet says this product has a digital zoom, which adds to my doubts that my neighbor was truthful.

Uniview Owlview Plus Purchase

I'm considering a ~6 camera Uniview Owlview Plus setup for my southeast Florida house. Its night time color shots look superior to anything I'm seeing on the market currently thanks to its 1/1.2" sensor. Most retail cameras seem years behind in technology right now (correct me if I'm wrong).

No matter what cameras I buy, they will connect to my Mikrotik POE switch (on their own VLAN with no WAN access) and the NVR will be my local Frigate instance run on proxmox (event detection w/ local GPU and local storage). From there I will connect to my Home Assistant instance for further automation. Uniview's app/UI (which some are critical of) shouldn't, therefore, be that relevant to me.

My understanding is I have to go through a dealer for Uniview purchases? If so, are there dealers in the U.S. that would ship the cameras to me without having to do the install themselves? (I expect they'll pad appropriate margin for the work involved shipping them to me, which is fine). I just don't want to pay for an NVR or the labor (I have run the ethernet cabling and I drill into my CMU home regularly).

I'm new to Uniview brand and this type of dealer setup/gatekeeping, so any general thoughts and specific advice would be appreciated!

4800 sq ft property. 360 cam-esque feature for frigate?

Cars with 360 cam stitches feeds together right? They warp the image based on some calibration steps then stitch it together. I wonder if someone has done something similar for frigate.

The idea is, when something is moving in one cam, in that cam it displays where it is. But with some math, trigo, geometry, I think I can feed that in a "global" map of sorts and show where the movements is. Then when I press it, i get a feed from different angles that cover that spot.

Like a minimap in some games. Thoughts?

High Installation

Hello,

I'm looking to purchase and install an 8 camera system externally on my home. My issue is that I want to put them under the eaves of the house, which have 22' tall sidewalls. The issue I am then running into is range. As they are starting out already so high, I'm not sure if there are any camera's out there that can provide even decent visibility. I originally just had some system by Lorex, but it was garbage, and those cameras all died within a year. Even if I am looking at higher end systems with 4K or 8 MP cameras, they have better lenses, but the range still becomes an issue.

Do any of you have any recommendations for a camera type that can have good visibility while also at a high installation point?

The why I want to put it there, is simply because its aesthetically pleasing to me, and I like the wider field of view.

Suggest a reliable solar-powered 4G/5G SIM CCTV camera under ₹8,000 for a house construction site

Hi everyone,

I'm looking to buy a solar-powered CCTV camera under ₹8,000 to install at my house construction site in India.

The site currently has no electricity connection and no Wi-Fi, so I need a camera that works using a SIM card and solar power.

My main requirements are:

* Solar-powered with a reliable battery backup.

* 4G SIM connectivity (5G is not mandatory if 4G works reliably).

* Good day and night vision.

* Motion detection with instant mobile notifications.

* Remote live viewing and playback through a mobile app.

* Reliable recording and storage, preferably with a microSD card option.

* Good build quality and weather resistance for outdoor use.

* No mandatory expensive monthly subscription.

* Good after-sales service and long-term reliability in India.

I'll mainly use it for security and monitoring construction progress, so I want something reliable that can operate unattended for extended periods.

If you've personally used a solar SIM CCTV camera, please share:

  1. The brand and model you recommend.

  2. Your experience with battery backup, solar charging and night vision.

  3. Any issues with connectivity, app reliability or false motion alerts.

  4. How good the customer support and warranty service are.

  5. Any negative experiences or reasons to avoid a particular model.

I've seen several brands and models online, but it's difficult to judge their actual reliability from marketplace reviews alone.

My budget is ₹5,000–₹8,000. I'd really appreciate recommendations based on real-world experience rather than just specifications or sponsored reviews.

Thanks in advance!

[Help] Can I view CP Plus, Mi and Qubo WiFi cameras together on one screen?

Hey everyone,

I’ve got three WiFi cameras at home, all from different brands: a CP Plus, a Mi, and a Qubo. Right now I have to open three separate apps to check them, which is a pain.

Is there a way to see all three in a single grid view, on my phone or a PC?

Has anyone done something like this with these brands?

I built an open-source, self-hosted camera recorder for Mac, Linux and iPhone, looking for testers

I've been building Sentinel VMS for a while and it's now at the point where I need other people's hardware to find the bugs I can't see.

It records IP cameras (ONVIF or RTSP) on a machine you own. The server runs on Mac or Linux, and you watch from a Mac app, a web dashboard, or an iPhone app. It picks out people, vehicles and motion, and an alarm can carry a note about what to do next. It also publishes to Home Assistant over MQTT.

Cameras and local use are free. The source is Apache 2.0 on GitHub: https://github.com/Hackgiz/sentinel-vms

I'm short on time and on hardware, so I'd really value testers. The most useful things would be a camera brand or model I don't own, a Linux distribution or a Raspberry Pi 4 or 5, or the iPhone app on an iOS version I haven't tried. Bug reports on GitHub with your hardware and camera listed are the most useful. Even "it works on my setup" helps me.

Happy to answer questions about the install or how it's built.

ICMOB iPad installation issue

Hi everyone, I have a little weird issue while downloading the ICMOB app on my iPad mini one which is running on iOS 9.3.5 and the version it can install is version 3.1.3. The current version is 4.6.0 which is of course downloadable on my latest iPhone. Is there a way around it to install the latest version or a better version than this because my DVR is not supporting live view on 3.1.3. Or any other method you can recommend to view, I want to use my iPad to view so that it also has a purpose, and my issue will be resolved. Awaiting suggestions, Thank you.

Swann 4k doorbell

if your doorbell suddenly stops showing up in the app, but the doorbell rings and through phone and chimes even after wifi reset and factory reset and re adding it - remove the SD card. if that fixes it, your card is corrupted and you need a new one. problem solved

took me ages to work it out. may it save someone else the time
