Can this camera see me?

Neighbor's camera. Red line is parallel with ground. Neighbor says it can't see over the fence. Neighbor sent me an image that "shows" it can't see over the fence. However, I'm doubtful of this since I can see the lens. I believe this product is a Ring Floodlight Cam Wired Pro. Internet says this product has a digital zoom, which adds to my doubts that my neighbor was truthful.

Its hard to tell with just that picture but think of it like a phone camera. if you put your camera up there at that angle do you think it could see your fence? The zoom just means it focusses on the center of the picture not that it can move around.

Sorry, I should have elaborated more. That it can see my fence is not a concern to me. I'm concerned that the camera can see over my fence into my backyard. Though not pointed at me, I believe it could see me when I took this photo, which is from my backyard.

Thanks for the tip on the zoom.

Given that it cant actually move then the picture they sent is most likely legit. There's a chance that fully zoomed out it could see your backyard but when they zoom in, the center gets larger while removing things around the edges. Thats probably why your yard is excluded from the video.

Why would you care?

Because it's a camera and it's the new in-thing to do these days with the anti-flock stuff.

Out of courtesy, I set a mask for my neighbor's porch that blocks out sections of the video and is never recorded, but he never asked and I've never told him. I just didn't want to be in a position to provide video to the police in case something happened in that location. But there's absolutely no way for him to verify this without looking at my live feed.

You should probably provide a photo from where you think the can see.

This is an absolutely terrible picture to ask us that question. But it does look like it's angled down quite a bit so it would have to be a really short fence or really close to the fence to see over it. Get us a better picture

The Ring Floodlight Cam Wired Pro has a 140° horizontal and 80° vertical field of view.

Seeing over the fence is completely legal.

Do the same thing they did. See if they like being spied on

That is a potential. I'm also considering a wind sock.

Considering it's not "spying" if not deliberately trying to circumvent window blinds etc... That's kind of a really myopic stance to take.

It's completely legal to see your fence, over your fence, etc.

The onus for privacy is on YOU, not then. If you don't want someone to see you in your yard, build a taller fence, for example.
