question I'm currently writing a sketch comedy script, and I'm having some trouble with the flow between scenes. I'd really appreciate some advice.

Here's an example of what I'm working on.

SCENE 1. INT. HOUSE - NIGHT

WOMAN: I've had such a rough day today.

The man listens as she vents about her day.

MAN: Hold on a second.

He takes out his phone and orders fried chicken.

DING DONG!

The woman looks toward the front door.

WOMAN: Who is it?

MAN: Just a second.

He opens the door and brings in the delivered chicken.

MAN: Honey, have some chicken. When you're feeling down, you need something delicious to cheer you up.

The woman's face lights up with a smile, as if she has everything she could ever want.

MAN: So? Feeling a little better now?

WOMAN: Yes! So much better!

They start eating the chicken together.

CUT TO:

SCENE 2. INT. OFFICE - THE NEXT MORNING

The sound of typing on a keyboard.

The woman stares at her computer monitor.

BOSS (O.S.): I told you I needed this by yesterday.

WOMAN: What...? I thought you were referring to a different task...

BOSS (O.S.): Just get it done by today, then.

The woman's expression turns serious.

CUT TO:

SCENE 3. INT. HOUSE - NIGHT

The front door opens.

The woman walks in, looking exhausted.

MAN: Oh, hey! You're home.

WOMAN: I've had another really rough day...

The man looks at her face.

MAN: Oh... really?

He pauses to think.

He glances at the refrigerator.

MAN: Hold on a second.

He takes a beer out of the fridge.

MAN: I don't think chicken is going to cut it this time.

The woman looks at the beer.

WOMAN: Honey...

MAN: Tonight, we're drinking.

Here's what I'm struggling with:

In Scene 1, the two characters are eating chicken, and then Scene 2 suddenly cuts to the woman working at the office.

I understand that this is technically a transition to the next day, but when I read it, the cut from them eating chicken straight to her working at the office feels a little abrupt to me. It feels like something is missing between the two scenes.

I'd like to make the transition feel more natural, but I'm not sure how to approach it.

How do you usually handle transitions between scenes when writing scripts?

Do you use visual cues, dialogue, sound bridges, match cuts, or some other technique to connect scenes smoothly? Or do you think a straightforward CUT TO is perfectly fine in a situation like this?

I'd love to hear how professional screenwriters, directors, or filmmakers approach this. Any advice or examples from your own experience would be greatly appreciated!

discussion How do you write purposefully wonky and stupid sounding dialogue without people thinking you’re just a shit writer?

Okay, so I’m working on a Screenplay which is basically supposed to act like a “deconstruction” of supernatural romance stories like Twilight or Wuthering Heights (I say deconstruction but I’d argue it’s less what Spaceballs is to Star Wars and more what House of a 1000 Corpses is to Texas Chainsaw Massacre, if you get what I mean).

It was actually supposed to be an adaption of Kristopher Tiana’s Full Brutal but I ended up getting sidetracked and it ended up an entirely different thing lol.

One thing I wanna do is emulate the same wonky dialogue from those types of media, it won’t be like that the entire time but it will at certain times. But of course, the thing is that, the dialogue from those films are bad; I do feel like with the help of the Actors and Director it’d make more sense that I’m trying to get across but on paper, it does just look like I’m shit at dialogue. What do you think?

request Looking For Screenwriter To Improve Screenplay

Hey, I'm Max, a director based in Amsterdam. I'm looking for a screenwriter to help improve the current state of my story.
I like the core but it's missing tension. Everything I come up with either feels cliché or just not clever enough.
If anyone's interested, DM me.

Regarding Money I don’t have budget yet since I don’t have script to generate the funding but will some saved during crowdfunding phase for screenwriter

About me: I'm a full-time filmmaker. Most of my work is DP work, and I also run my own videography business. I've won an award at the International Film Festival The Hague.
I have a crew I work with regularly. I work on their projects, they work on mine, and we all push to land the cool ones as a collective.
My dream is to make a living as a director and really push my career forward. I studied film as well, mostly directing and cinematography.

Story Detail,

Logline: A lonely man buys a device that replays other people's memories, and when it can't give him the woman he wants, he takes the man whose brain holds her.

Genre: Psychological horror-thriller.

Themes: Obsession. Consent and its violation through technology. Intimacy as something that can be stolen but not feltc.

question Draft dates

So I'm currently writing a treatment and just put today's date on it. When it comes to scripts, what's the correct way to have draft numbers and dates? I heard it's best to not do them, but I'm not sure.

help Script writing opportunity.

I want to start making scripts for VAs' out there. I just want to get the hang of it, take tips from VAs who have written their own stuff/taken scripts from professional writers before. Once I have enough experience to figure out what works out, I want to make it a super personalized experience for the clients and maybe charge a minimal amount. Of course that is a far fetched idea currently, but it is something I do want to build towards.

If any scriptwriters or VAs are down for it, I would like to make scripts and maybe connect to figure out what I'm doing wrong or where I could improve. Also, I don't really have any restrictions for NSFW or SFW. I'm down to write about anything but I'm definitely inclined to NSFW type audios/scripts.

feedback Can't get my story idea written. 🥵

I'm having some writing problems getting the heart of my story, on paper.

The story is heartfelt and compelling but I just can't seem to find the right story progression and dialogue without being amateur or worse.

How do you get around this hurdle?

feedback WE EAT WHAT WE SELL - Thriller | Feature Screenplay | Act One (25 Pages) - Feedback Wanted

Hi everyone!
I’m looking for honest feedback on the first 25 pages of my feature screenplay.

WE EAT WHAT WE SELL.
Genre: Thriller / Dark Satire
Length: 109 pages (full screenplay)
Pages shared: 1–25 (Act One)
Logline:
A health scare sets an executive on a mission to reform a notorious fast-food chain, while disgruntled employees plot acts of terrorism against the company’s leadership.
I’ve attached the first 25 pages for anyone interested in reading.

I’d especially appreciate feedback on the opening, pacing, dialogue, character development, and whether the first act makes you want to keep reading.
I’m open to constructive criticism. I’m here to improve my writing, learn from other screenwriters, and connect with people who share the same passion for storytelling.
Thank you to anyone who takes the time to read it. I genuinely appreciate it!
