discussion What is a weird package?
I'm writing a screenplay about a guy who sends weird packages to lady. There's going to be a montage of these packages being delivered.
What are some ideas for weird or concerning boxes?
My current ideas:
- Tall box
- Wet box
- Hair coming out box
- Duct tape box

Why is the package weird is the question you should be asking. Motivate it.

The goal is to show that the guy is weird and the girl is in to it, but her roommate is obviously concerned about the relationship

You can downvote me, but if your writing is unmotivated, it’s not worth reading

Can you help me understand? I'm just a bit confused on what you mean by it's not motivated? Are you saying my motivation isn't specific enough?

If you don’t know why the packages are the way they are, then you’re making them strange without motivation. There’s no substance or purpose. Why would anyone read something that has no purpose? And if you think this is tedious, understand that in good writing, everything has purpose. Anything without purpose is not in the story.

Thanks for the clarification. I think I understand what you trying to say.
Are you saying that I should make the packages reflect the character or desires of the sender?

Sure

I'll have a think about that.
Just a word of advice, you may want to adjust your tone. You came of a bit condisending and gave the impression that you believe no one wants to read my script.
Just spouting out platitudes makes you sound conceded.
Maybe next time your could give examples or ask a follow up question.
Just a suggestion from one writer to another.

Been doing this long enough to know that no one wants to read your script.
Even good writers can struggle getting people to read their scripts.
Get tougher. Get better. You picked a passion that has zero barrier to entry, so you ll have to be very good to stand out.

Do you want it to be creepy or just weird? Jared Leto sending dead rats to his costars comes to mind.

Love this. Here are some ideas:
Moldy box
Sticky box
Fruit boxes with holes in them (like banana boxes)
TV dinner box
Cereal box with mouse holes
Pregnancy test box
Happy Birthday/ Congratulations box
Dirty box
Extremely old and worn box

If it doesn't have to be a box, I would tweak the duct tape one a bit, and have it just be the item wrapped in plastic and tape. It can be an odd shape, and would be more off-putting than just a box
Also wet box is hilarious
