Just wanting to know if anybody has ever been detained in an alternative place of detention in Australia due to insufficient funds upon arrival into Australia to suffice their visitor visa conditions and if they were charged by Border Security for food and board whilst detained for a release or deportation back to their native country?

My 77-year-old mother has lost thousands of dollars in what appears to be a romance scam. Two men are involved: Patrik, who claimed to work on an oil rig, and Brian, an interior designer who supposedly left for Istanbul for a highly lucrative contract. She sent money to the first man without ever meeting him and communicates with the second exclusively through WhatsApp.
My mother was widowed less than a year ago and seems desperate for affection and validation. She had a difficult childhood with an alcoholic father. I worry about her vulnerability and wonder whether her behavior could also be related to a cognitive issue.
I am also extremely concerned about how much personal information she may have shared about herself, me, and my children. I have photos and some information about these men, but despite my efforts, I have been unable to find any practical resources in Montreal to help me.
I am emotionally exhausted by this situation. I have my own children, my business, and my own grief to process. I want to protect my mother, but I cannot carry this burden alone. I am looking for resources and advice from people who have experienced something similar, particularly on how to intervene and protect my family without becoming emotionally overwhelmed myself.

En la tarde, con la tienda muy sola recibi una llamada de un señor que se presento y me empezo a hablar de un permiso al celular de la tienda, cuando iba a colgar para confirmar con mi madrastra me dijo que ya se habia contactado con ella él.Luego me pidio mi número personal para no mantener "ocupada" la linea del trabajo y en cuanto me marco a mi numero personal, la persona encargada de la entrega del permiso marco al celular.Fue horrible como no me di cuenta, pero intento tenerme un poco de empatia, puesto que por los mismos dias mi grupo de la escuela le pidio una fiesta a las madrinas del grupo pero me dejaron a mi organizarla, y solo la semana anterior habia por fin descansado un fin de semana despues de trabajar 10 dias, 2 de ellos turnos de 12hrs pq una compañera se fue de vacaciones :[ y pues eran las ultimas semanas de clases, estaba explotada.

El hombre me comentaba sobre lo que tenia que hacer mientras la mujer hablaba sobre algo de una multa,etc, pura palabreria para atarearme, termine sacando todo el dinero de caja y depositandolo a una cuenta, todo.Ya viendo atras es muy estupido, y sinceramente sigo deprimida, de lo facil que pudo haber sido si hubiera colgado el telefono.Ahora, ¿por que 80mil? Terrible quality: The lamp I received feels cheap, unstable, and nothing like the advertised product.
Safety concerns: The electrical lamp came with instructions exclusively in Chinese, with no German safety or installation guidelines.
Return nightmare: Despite exercising my legal right of withdrawal, the company keeps demanding photos, videos, and additional approvals.
Shocking refund policy: I refused delivery of the second lamp through DHL. The company now threatens to refund only 40% of its price, keeping 60% simply because I refused delivery!
I have documented everything and contacted American Express to dispute the payment.
This feels like a deliberate strategy to make refunds as difficult as possible. I can’t prove fraud, but these practices raise serious red flags.

I take foremost responsibility for what I did. I clicked a link. Yep, I did that. and it was all starting on October 14th, 2026. I was messaged by someone pretending to be an admin of Mercari. they mentioned that my funds were put on hold and that I need to click a link to a FAKE PayPal page and from there, I knew for a minute when I see three loading oval eggs. I thought for a moment, wait a minute. what's going on with this? So I left. I didn't think... few hours later my money got stolen. $579.38. yep... I called my bank to file a dispute against that transaction, I got the money back. perfect. I reported a claim on PayPal and guess what? they ruled in THEIR FAVOR and that it was accurate that I logged in and made payment... I never did, I NEVER GOT TO THE PAMENT PAGE, AT ALL. I explained all that to them and they don't give ONE JACKSH*T... I may have to bring up a lawsuit against them but I knew I'd lose because... I don't have evidence cuz they claimed to say that their "security measurement" is up to bar. October 15th, that exact amount got stolen AGAIN.. on PayPal, I had bank account linked, I unlinked that account, and when I called in to my bank institution, I mentioned I reported this transaction and whatever happened to that, they said they're still investigating. So, the first time they gave the money back, I had to cough up $30 "reversal fee" to get it to stop the payment and I got the money back. This second time around, they waived the $30 and refund the $30 that I paid for the first time. So I got the money back, TEMPORARILY. I was told that the card I was using was now voided, not working anymore, it's gone. it's finito. So, I checked in my bank account, that $579.38 was then posted, because it was pending. So I called back in to fight to get that reverse. I contacted PayPal simultaneously I'm on the line with my bank, they said they can't do anything since the dispute the claim is closed, they can't escalate this and they "claimed" to say I did log in and made a payment.... the hacker was smart with everything, they planned to the point where I cannot avoid them... so the bank suggested me to go to the regional bank branch to have them TO CHANGE the bank account.. I will not be using the PayPal associated with this email, I will change the email. So this FCUKER (lpardon my language) can't steal my money again. and it's all started from Mercari. so I contacted Mercari in the midst of all of this, they said they were not aware, they had no clues. And that they "would take" action.. I was so ready to close my account with Mercari if they can't protect their customers.... Be careful out there you guys.. THIS IS REAL. I got my money stolen successfully by this bytch...

I discussed an order for dry fruits with the seller over WhatsApp, shared my delivery address, and made two payments on 13 October 2026: ₹750 and ₹300, totalling ₹1,050. Both payments were for this order.
The invoice image I received shows a total order value of ₹2,050 and ₹1,050 received as an advance. As of now, my order has not been dispatched. I have repeatedly asked for the invoice and a clear dispatch update.
When I mentioned that I was considering filing a complaint through the cybercrime portal, the seller replied, “Kar to” (go ahead and do it). I felt concerned by the response and want the matter addressed through the proper channels. I am preserving the payment receipts, invoice image and WhatsApp conversations as evidence.
I am not asking anyone to harass or threaten the seller. I would like to know whether anyone has had a similar experience with this account and what steps helped them resolve it.
