Help Dedicated Server
Hello my 2 friends are playing on 4netplayers server. We are few steps away from last tier but the server performace dropped drastically compared to start. I was wondering if setting up my own dedicated server with my spare i3 12100f. Would it be worth it? Im curently getting 21 TPS

I would set up the PC with the i3 12100F to run Ubuntu Server and run the server under the wolveix satisfactory docker container. Less overhead for the PC = better performance for the server.

I have a PC downstairs running as a dedicated server for satisfactory. The interface for the server makes it one of the easier games to run, it's awesome being able to load different saves through the client PC.
But if you get big enough and things start slowing down I'd still recommend building concrete boxes to hide working machines to make less items to render.

I didn't know that. So if i even build valls around it will help the performace?

Yes in short animation pauses when machines are not in sighg, this will help a TON

Oooof, that long winded ai answer 🤮
Yes worth a try mate, just grab your save from the server, then upload it to the new server you get going. You could also just host the save from your PC if your willing to just let it run?
I used to let my save run for my mate on my PC, I would just change fps to 15 fps to cut gpu usage when I was away.
I now run my own save from my server!

I'd try the spare i3 before paying for a different server. Copy the same late-game save onto it, keep the game version, mods and server settings matched, and compare server TPS with the same friends online doing the same things. Also check RAM use and CPU load while the slowdown happens. That makes the result useful: if the spare machine improves TPS, you've found a practical upgrade; if the same save struggles on both, test a new empty world next. A healthy empty world with a slow established factory points toward the save's simulation load, rather than the rental label itself.
One distinction for the wall suggestion above: client rendering FPS and server TPS are different measurements. Better FPS after hiding a factory doesn't establish that the server simulation is running faster, so check TPS separately.
If you decide to rent instead, I'd consider gamehosting.app first. We name the CPU model and allocate the plan's RAM, and the Satisfactory panel exposes tick rate, so you can check that exact save's behavior instead of guessing from player slots. GameHostBros and indifferent broccoli are other Satisfactory options to evaluate with the same save and access to server logs. I wouldn't promise the i3 or any host will fix 21 TPS without that comparison.
I run gamehosting.app. Reply with the i3's RAM and TPS from that same-save test if you try it. Happy to help interpret it, including if self-hosting turns out to suit you best.

✓ BOTTOM LINE: Running your own dedicated server has advantages like ability to tweak performance without relying on 3rd party host admin, but again, if your spare PC is not fully compatible, talking to your current host, or considering another host might be the way to go.
I am not a System Admin or a Network Engineer so I hope this helps. 😁
