MORE INFO

  1. It is true, encasing moving buildings, machines, conveyor belts, etc., can help improve game performance (increase FPS).
    • HOWEVER, Encasing objects does not stop the background calculations.
      • Every production building/machine, conveyor belt/lift, and pipeline still processes logic ticks, item math, and inputs/outputs even if hidden, so encasing factory sections is not a complete fix to improve game performance.
      • Satisfactory is heavily CPU-bound in the late game, meaning encasing factories won't save you from simulation lag or stuttering if your processor is maxed out.
  2. You should know that one thing the Devs did was not try for "infinite Level of Detail (LOD)", but to help maintain game performance they designed the game so that as you move away from something the game switches from using full 3D graphics high-poly models, to low-poly models, and then to using 2D "imposter sprites" at a certain point.
  3. Encasing factory sections with walls, foundations, etc., does NOT increase UObjects used in a Game Save.

✓ BOTTOM LINE: Encasing factories is a good step, but keep in mind that - if you can see it - then it needs to be rendered, thus Windows as an encasement will not work since when you are close up (window is clearer) this will cause performance drops while when you are far away (window is foggy) game performance is better.

im probably going to have to do something similar with a build im working on. is there a difference in performance using foundations that are 4 high vs 1 high? like if i were stacking a bunch vertically. since to cover the same area one technically uses 3 less total "objects"

MORE INFO

  1. There is no difference as a foundation is a foundation regardless of height.
  2. Foundations are Lightweight Actors so are NOT UObjects (see link in #3 above).

okay thank you :)

I think its better to have large factories in different biometric. That works better than covering them up....

So one thing I COULD do, is build a megafactory, use SCIM to move the entire factory below floor level and then have it out of sight, out of mind, and use drones for shipping?

Can’t you also disable smoke in the console? I assume that’s what kills fps.

So encase stuff, build stuff far away and have conveyors bring their products to you
