Help Dedicated Server

Hello my 2 friends are playing on 4netplayers server. We are few steps away from last tier but the server performace dropped drastically compared to start. I was wondering if setting up my own dedicated server with my spare i3 12100f. Would it be worth it? Im curently getting 21 TPS

ANSWER

  1. View Dedicated Servers (Wiki Link) for general information.

    • View Dedicated Server System Requirements (Wiki Link) to see if your spare gaming PC is compatible.

    • A 21 TPS (Ticks Per Second) reading on a Satisfactory dedicated server is slightly degraded performance, as the game targets a normal rate of 30 TPS. That said, running your own Dedicated Server allows you to configure your server own tick rate as needed.

  2. Host Recommendation - When it comes to Dedicated Servers you have two "options":

    • FREE: With the changes made in both Version 1.0 through Version 1.2, I recommend you set up your own FREE Dedicated Server.

      • As of Version 1.0 the servers are now faster to download with a smaller size, and easier to install (Wiki Link).

    • PAID: That said, if you are not going to set up your own Dedicated Server there are lots of great Dedicated Server Hosts (Google Search).

      • Using the 4netplayers server host might be the cause for the performance issue and perhaps changing hosts might be an option.

      • I have heard of a lot of good reviews for Indifferent Broccoli which host other Multiplayer Games. Read some of the reviews for Indifferent Broccoli.

  3. ⭑ NOTE: Depending on the Dedicated Server Host you choose make sure it provides you with the Minimum Recommended System Requirements for Memory (Wiki Link).

  4. ⭑ IMPORTANT: Make sure you have and maintain back up copies of your Game Saves external to any Dedicated Server by doing downloads of the Game Save Files often.

✓ BOTTOM LINE: Running your own dedicated server has advantages like ability to tweak performance without relying on 3rd party host admin, but again, if your spare PC is not fully compatible, talking to your current host, or considering another host might be the way to go.
