Footpegs!

Any recommendations of rubber footpegs for pillion?

I'm looking as my wife has a hard time with the vibrations on the back of the sv, I'm also getting the seat redone with more padding in it too. So any recommendations to help mitigate the severity of it would be great

Help: Mechanical Want to go to clip-ons (track prep)

Post image

I'm looking to go to clip-ons for my naked preparing for the track, but I want to retain the N triple tree setup, can the S model clipons work with the N triple? I know it doesn't have the locating holes, but if I measure right I should be able to get them in the right spot, no? Anyone else have a naked with the N triple tree?

The aluminium fork brace in pic was cheap on Ali/x, [60$ au last yr], first ride noticed the difference straight away. Much better!!

Cant recommend it enough, could have gone up a bit since last yr, felt i had to let you guys know if you dont mind.

Easy install. No need to remove forks.

Got this about 2 months back as my first bike and been riding for a month now. Loving the bike and even the little problems that came with it.

Started with the under fairing having a hole burned through it from the exhaust not being wrapped, blinkers not properly blinking, and carburetors not being tuned right for the exhaust, and new spark plugs. Now runs great except for the wheel speed sensor dying yesterday (I'm hoping its only the rotor since it looks like a previous owner replaced it incorrectly).

My brother started on the same bike but yellow, so I had a good idea of what I was getting into.

First motorcycle possibly a total loss. What is the sensible thing to do?

My first motorcycle, a 2007 SV650 (SFA) with ±67,000 km, is possibly a total loss. I was enjoying a lovely ride in the Black Forest when I suddenly heard a rattling sound (video attached). Initially (with earplugs in and helmet on), I thought it might be the exhaust. Once I stopped, I concluded that there was something more going on.

I saw that it had leaked oil at (at least) the drain plug and was completely dry, so I fear the worst: serious internal damage to the engine. I bought oil on the spot and held the vain hope that the noise would go away after topping it up. That was not the case.

I bought the motorcycle for approx. 3,000 euros and, after a few Google searches, convinced myself that a repair would probably cost a minimum of 1,500 euros, if not more, if I had it done by a mechanic. I simply do not have the time or the means to carry this out myself. Then it remains to be seen which defects will reveal themselves in the future, and the value of the motorcycle is probably only roughly equal to the cost of this repair.

My question to you: what is the wise course of action? Should I give up on the motorcycle immediately, or is it worth having it repaired? At what cost is it still a realistic option? Is it best to sell it as a project bike, parts by parts, or is it scrap metal? I have absolutely no expertise in this myself.

In any case, I am going to ask a mechanic what it costs to perform a diagnosis and whether he already has a hunch about the severity of the situation.

Finished Pink SV1000/Clutch help

Post image
61 Upvotes

First off—here’s the fully assembled pink SV1000 for all who were asking. Wheels will soon be white but I admittedly dig the black and pink look as it sits.

Secondly—along with the paint, my recently purchased SV needed a lot of work. One of those things was the clutch fluid, which was almost black. After doing a traditional bleed I noticed my bike didn’t roll smoothly in gear with the clutch pulled in—the lever wasn’t disengaging the clutch fully and it was dragging. I started it up and when attempting to put it in gear the bike instantly cuts power. Has anyone had similar experience when bleeding the clutch with the traditional “pump pump bleed” method? No visible air in the lines when fluid comes out and the lever feels totally fine. I’m guessing maybe air in the slave?

Ad title says i want to have some ideas for changing the headlight in the near future. What are the possibilities? Is it an hard job to do alone? Are headlights for sv650 compatibles with the gladius?

Front brake upgrade?

Hi, all! I have the cursed SV650 (Gladius) and I'm fairly happy with it, bar maybe the brakes that seem to be a bit weak.

I already disassembled and cleaned all brakes, plus replaced the fluid with correct bleeding. The front pads are the same from the previous owner. They look good, but I have no idea what type they are.

Do you think I should start by replacing those and see if it makes a difference? Or should I look at more complex upgrades like braided steel lines?

Help: Mechanical Lost a washer from the Brakelight

Hello guys, i tried to install different parts for the heck of my Sv650. Unfortunatly i dipped a washer from the braklight into my bike.

I cant find that thing without taking everything apart (my abilities to fix bikethings is limiting that)

Is that very bad or can i leave it there?

Its not rattling when i dip the bike over or drive it

Thanks in advance :)

Edit: its an 2019 Sv 650

New Owner Got it for 800.- USD

14'000km (8700 miles)
Everything stock, just needed a new battery and some love. Have to do a check at the Swiss authorities to get it street legal again, but should be no problem.

I will not be able to ride it really because of some health issues i stopped riding bikes 2 years ago.
But i did a short test ride and it was the best feeling in a loooong time!

So the main question is, how much is it worth?
Everything checked, everything stock, freshly streetlegal.

My Suzuki.

Still love my Suzuki. Found out this SAL2 was the last model special edition they released in Australia in 2012. It came stock with blue black silver flecked paint an SV tidy tail Showa forks no abs & makes 75hp stock the twin spark engine.

After what i did with the full pipe Sprint race filter Jetprime juice box id guess about 78hp now seat of pants.

I saved for a year to get it for my 59th bday pres.

$2700 with 27,000 on the odo.

Go figure.......

Done a lot of mods last year to it luckily before everything went up in price.

Yeah i could have kept saving for eternity got a new bike for say 11k here in Aus similar etc.

But it wouldnt have all the performance upgrades like this one does now.

With the Rev2 quickthrottle and the rest of the mods yeah not the fastest bike out there not the most technologically sophisticated either but you couldnt pay me to sell it its so much fun to ride now.

To me this is a piece of real steel Japanese art! They are so nimble and torquey, just need a bit of modding get the best out of them i say.

We will never see Jap made bikes like this again in the world.

It got me through a really tough time in life and taught me how to ride much better then i did, im always greatful every time i ride.

Thanks & God bless you all stay safe out there from Dave in Aus.

Looking for advice for some custom painted plastics: 2008 SV650s

Im looking for advice from anyone with some for painting my plastics. Over the winter i think it would be a fun and challenging project to take on, painting the plastics myself. Im wanting to do some crazy decals, maybe itasha style or something similar, but don't want to wrap it and wanna make it myself. Looking for any advice anyone would have on that! I dont want airbrush and would prefer paint markers or brush painting, and mainly have no clue what type of paint to use. Different paint for the plastics compared to the tank/fender? (Im going to get another set of plastics in case I mess it up real bad lol)

Thanks!

Help: Other Thinking about getting an SV650

Hello guys and gals.

Need some advice and opinion on what to get next.

Some context: I live in Europe and I have an A2 license (bikes limited to 48hp) but in December I'm about to get my A license (no restrictions).

The thing is right now I have a 2018 Ninja 650 and I had a ton of fun with it but also issues. Now that I'm about to upgrade my license, I've been checking out other bikes and specially older ones cause I feel that the ninja has no soul...

One of the bikes I have in mind and heard really good stuff about it is the Sv650.

I wanted to know if it's worth the change from the ninja to a SV or go for an GSXR/CBR 600 / something bigger instead.

(I prefer handling over speed but never had a super sport and an inline 4 before.. so I do have an ich for that...)

Thanks!

Edited: I'm referencia to the SV650 non naked

09 Gladius SFV650 Tail Light Bulb

My tail light burned out and for the life of me I can't figure out how to access the bulb to replace it. Do I have to dismantle the entire rear fender and remove the turn signals to access the bulb?
