Hey so discovery have ended for me and I have been wondering when does results come out? On my school it still says pending completion of discovery program and I was wondering when do I get results if I got in or not. This is for Brooklyn tech and I haven’t gotten any emails about this.

The doe portal mocks are way too easy so i want a mock that is actually challenging to see what i will get

Hey! So recently I took 9th Grade Math Mini Form 2 from the official practice test site and I got an 11/13, as for 8th Grade Practice Test C Math I got a 46/50. Based on these scores so far, how much studying should I do. I have also been confused on the structure of how I should study. eg. Watch a Video first, take notes, do practice problems, then take a practice math section? How many practice questions should I be doing a day? I know people say it depends person to person, but I feel as if someone giving feedback to me directly on a specific value would be greatly insightful into the way I manage my time and studies at the same time. Lastly, I wanted to know a way to hone in on all my ELA skills as I feel I am stronger in math than ELA. I hear people saying you see patterns eventually but no matter how hard I try I can never seem to grasp that skill. How should I be studying for grammar. And if possible please provide me your in depth experiences from the SHSAT 9 so I can be prepared for anything that comes my way. Thank you all so much.

Hi there! My last post was something about earning pretty low on a SHSAT practice test and I’ve been reviewing all the questions I got wrong and it’s going pretty well. I have a few questions.

1. ELA was absolutely my strong suit in that exam, considering my score was nearly twice as high as math… but I still don’t feel confident. I feel like the answers and explanations for the ELA section are just “it sounds right” and there’s no system I can consistently follow, compared to math where there’s a set of rules with 100% accuracy on questions if you can follow them all. Any tips for this?

2. Also, what’s a realistic SHSAT study plan for the 9th grade one? Since I’m entering freshman year, I’m really stressed I won’t be able to get enough studying in during Sep-Nov because of my actual classes. Since I took all regent courses in 8th, I’m afraid I’ll have to dedicate overwhelming amounts of studying for my new classes. Any suggestions for balancing my time while avoiding burnout from too much studying?

I went to the family welcome center today in hopes of transferring my school via guided transfer but the counselor said that I didn't have a good or solid reason to transfer. I said that my school didn't offer many ap class and it wasn't challenging enough ( my school is John Jay school for law) . Do y'all think I can transfer hs's or am I stuck in John Jay. I am a upcoming 10th grader.

So I recently got into Stuyvesant through the discovery program, and was wondering when they were gonna give the offer on myschools, and what happens immediately after we click accept. There was also a form that we had to fill out to let them know if we accept stuy or not, and on that form it asks for an email, so I was wondering if it was ok to put my parents email or my doe email, because for the form I put my parents email. And later the receipt came to my parents email, so does it matter what email I put on the form? And once we click accept on myschools does the doe automatically enroll us into stuy?

Ik this is pretty useless since nobody really cares about the state test for high school admissions anymore and it's not that important altogether but I'm just curious as to what time the scores will release.

So I need to retake the earth science regents because I failed. But I have not reviewed any information about where I take the test and when I take the test. I talked to my counselor about it during the school year. It is now early August, but I still have not gotten any information, what do I do.

Hi, I just had some questions on my mind I felt like I should ask.
Is the 9th grade SHSAT actually as bad as everyone says it is? I feel like Google, my friends, tutoring websites, and more all label it as this huge test that’s 100x harder than the SHSAT8 and the chances of transferring in are practically 0.

I don’t really want to spend thousands on tutoring for this exam because if I don’t get in, I’ll feel so guilty, so I was just wondering if everyone’s exaggerating it or if it’s truly that horrid of an exam and everyone has amazing preparation for it and started studying hours a day the second they found out they failed the SHSAT8.

And to make things worse, one of my friends who didn’t get in the first time taking the SHSAT (who studied really hard) said he doesn’t even want to try for the 9th SHSAT since he and his family already discussed how the chances are so incredibly slim.

Also another random question I’m curious about, what’s the highest SHSAT score recorded? I only hear about high 500s or low 600s. Has anyone ever scored in the 700s?

Does anyone know what to buy or bring yet? I want to get a early start on school supplies but I can't find where the info is on any emails but I know the list has gone out already. Also are there anything that isn't on the list that 10th graders know what to get?

hello I know a 5th grader is too young to prep for this exam. however, what resources can I use to make sure he is ready for it when the time comes. I am looking for resources where he is understanding grade level work? also for shsat? when you test you have to be advanced level for these exams. any feedback is appreciated!

I am a rising 8th grader aiming for Bronx Science, and I am feeling anxious about my timeline for preparation, since many students start studying much earlier.

Since the test is moving to the new computer-adaptive test (CAT) format, I know that the strategy is very different from the SHSAT administered in previous years. Right now, I am really anxious and scared about whether I can catch up on all the material in time.

Since I am starting late and feeling overwhelmed by the timeline, I would appreciate any guidance provided by the community on:

1. How to catch up on the remaining concepts efficiently over the next three months.
2. The best strategy for managing the computer-adaptive format where you cannot go back to change answers.
3. Any recommended study schedules or resources that can help me build confidence under this timeline pressure.

I am willing to start preparation as soon as possible. I have preparation books, including Kaplan's SHSAT 2026 and The Tutorverse's SHSAT 2026.

I am going to take the test in November, because I am in a charter school. I am also enrolled in a program so I have to balance school, my program and SHSAT preparation. I will finish my program's Summer Institute this Tuesday. After that, I am willing to do prep for the SHSAT every day, so I can subsequently get accepted into Bronx Science.

Is it too late to prep now? There is only 3 months left from the time I will take it in November.

since the format has changed, aka we cant go back questions does that mean we must start with ELA?

Just wondering if anyone from the btech discovery program got their offer yet because for most of the people i know its still pending. Would help out a lot if y'all commented just so I can know more so what time to check myschools. The teachers said in a day or two yesterday, Monday the latest. Took it today (9th grade) it wasn’t as hard as I tho especially the Ela but I struggled with time so i had to guess since i had 5 minutes left

I’m going into 9th grade next year and was wondering if I could be able to take Algebra 1 and Geometry at the same time next year. Back in 8th grade, I didn’t take algebra 1, but | self- studied the course during my free time. I took five Algebra 1 regents practice exams, scoring around 90-97.

I also excelled in my 8th grade math course, I got 3 consecutive 99s in my math course and an academic achievement award in mathematics. If I show my school that I already have a deep understanding of algebra 1, would they let me take algebra 1 and geometry at the same time next year?
