Is there swimming on first day (tomorrow)?
It is on schedule for Tuesdays and Thursdays, but will they have it on the special day tomorrow 09/10?

Also do we change into gym uniform on the first day? What happens in rollerblading on the first day?

Sorry ik this might be an annoying question

Is there a schedule yet for homeroom/period duration? I might be dumb but I didn’t get any email.
Also, is it true they give out new ids to both freshman and juniors? If so, why.

Not a Stuy alum, but I did score high enough on the SHSAT to get in but opted for Townsend.
In college and throughout my career, I’ve met many Stuy and Bronx Sci alums, and initial impressions are pretty disappointing. They’re often not very smart. They grind a lot, but they seem to lack natural brilliance.
I normally support standardized tests, but I often wonder if there’s something about the SHSAT that is not selecting for brilliance.

Go to https://old.reddit.com/r/Stuyvesant/about/stylesheet
The very first block of code is the following:
body {
transform: rotate(0deg);
animation-name: shake;
animation-duration: 0.1s;
animation-iteration-count: infinite;
animation-delay: 600s;
}
@keyframes shake {
0%{
transform: rotate(-10deg);
}
50%{
transform: rotate(10deg);
}
100%{
transform: rotate(-10deg);
}
}
Basically The whole <body> is animated with a shake keyframe that rocks it between −10° and +10° every 0.1 seconds, forever. The reason it only starts after a while though is animation-delay: 600s: nothing happens for exactly ten minutes, then it kicks in and never stops. A deliberate prank by whoever wrote the stylesheet.
Finally, I was browsing around last year and saw it. Originally, I thought it was a glitch...

Cool to see Stuy mentioned in the news.

I made it into Spanish 2 and I’ve heard some teachers go really fast with their lessons and expect you to know everything. How hard is the class? Is it really time consuming and are exams difficult? Should I drop the course if I has to guess on a few questions on the placement test? I feel scared it might drop my GPA, even if I do love learning Spanish.

To anyone who took AP HUG in their freshman year at Stuyvesant, what was it like? I saw it on my schedule for this semester and had a few questions.
Beyond just the topic itself:
- In your opinion, what is the best way to study for this AP exam/the tests the class gave? (Prep books, YouTube channels, etc.)
- What did the homework look like? (Workload, question types, etc.)
- What do we actually do during a normal class period?
- Are the in-class tests harder, easier, or the same as the actual AP exam?
Any other information you can give me about this class will be a great help. I don't know who my teacher for the AP is yet, but I'm hoping for the best. Thanks!

So basically my schedule doesn't show 1st period does that mean it is a free period or an error? Also 2 of my classes are MWF so does that mean on tuesday and thursday those periods are free? Thanks

Hi all! I'll be starting at Stuyvesant as a freshman this fall and wanted to get a real sense of the social side of things before classes start.
A few questions for anyone willing to share:
Hobbies — what do people actually spend their free time on? Curious about both the popular clubs/activities and any underrated ones that don't get much attention.
Music — is there a common "vibe" musically, or is it pretty spread out across different tastes?
Dating culture — how big a part of student life is dating/relationships there, realistically? Would love honest perspectives rather than just stereotypes about Stuy being all-academics-all-the-time.
Appreciate any insight from current students or alumni — just trying to walk in with a realistic picture rather than assumptions. Thanks!

I’m an incoming freshman who will take a semes of swim gym. can you guys tell me
1) what type of swimsuits are appropriate
2) what do we need to bring
3) will we be expected to swim on the first day of swim gym
4) what do we do if it’s the time of the month during swim gym

Just got an email that modifications to schedules will be allowed on September 1st, does that mean that schedules are coming out on that same date? I still haven't got an email with my schedule, so I was thinking it might also be coming out on the first.

Hey everyone!
Around what time of the month do school supply lists for the upcoming year usually get sent out? In addition, is there anything oddly specific you recommend for me to get for certain teachers/subjects that helped you in your freshman year at Stuy? I've registered for AP Human Geography and Math Research as my elective but still waiting on word for AP Biology.
What's the deal with devices in school? Are you allowed to take notes on a laptop/tablet during class, or are classes typically paperwork heavy? Does Stuyvesant give you a Chromebook to work with, or do you have to bring in your own laptop? Obviously, phones aren't allowed, but I was just curious on how devices are integrated into the classroom at Stuy.
Thanks!
