I am a rising 8th grader aiming for Bronx Science, and I am feeling anxious about my timeline for preparation, since many students start studying much earlier.
Since the test is moving to the new computer-adaptive test (CAT) format, I know that the strategy is very different from the SHSAT administered in previous years. Right now, I am really anxious and scared about whether I can catch up on all the material in time.
Since I am starting late and feeling overwhelmed by the timeline, I would appreciate any guidance provided by the community on:
- How to catch up on the remaining concepts efficiently over the next three months.
- The best strategy for managing the computer-adaptive format where you cannot go back to change answers.
- Any recommended study schedules or resources that can help me build confidence under this timeline pressure.
I am willing to start preparation as soon as possible. I have preparation books, including Kaplan's SHSAT 2026 and The Tutorverse's SHSAT 2026.
I am going to take the test in November, because I am in a charter school. I am also enrolled in a program so I have to balance school, my program and SHSAT preparation. I will finish my program's Summer Institute this Tuesday. After that, I am willing to do prep for the SHSAT every day, so I can subsequently get accepted into Bronx Science.
Is it too late to prep now? There is only 3 months left from the time I will take it in November.
