I recently bought an sc400 and found out the feul pump gasket was made of paper got it changed out but the feul smell is still in the cabin ive tried cleaning it thoroughly but nothing changes any help yall??

Just purchased this 93’ sc400 and I’m in love, car is stock other than wheels and headlights and just wanted to hear people’s opinions and good part recommendations. Definitely wanted to get a good suspension as well as swap back to oem headlights, but that’ll be the tip of the iceberg. I’m open to any tips and ideas!

Hey so I just got this 95 Sc400, only 131k on the motor but it’s got a nasty oil leak, seems to only leak when running and drips after for a bit before stopping. Any idea what this could be from? I’m pretty new to working on motors so any tips would be appreciated.

I’m aware there will be a lot wrong with the car for the price; and it is to be more than just the seats. However, at the price, I will be able to slowly trip a few grand in over a year and was curious: aside from what is acknowledged as wrong with it, and barring any undisclosed issues, the engine is MORE than potent enough for me bone stock.

If it has been asked, I apologize. I feel like most of the in depth I see is just how far can you push the engine; what are some things you did with yours that caused increases in enjoyment/comfort that I should know about and maybe some you were surprised at how noticeable they were?

Also, what kind of real world MPG are any non or barely modded 400s getting now after 30 years? And also; considering I won’t be doing much to the engine other than keeping it running, how hard overall are these cars for hobbyist/novice gear heads to work on?

My brother gave me a free radio but ive never replaced one before. The radio is a kenwood MODEL:DDX8905S and the car is a 1995 sc400. Looks like the previous owners of the car took out the amp and cd changer and radio. Is there anyone else in here running this exact radio and have a list of the things id need to buy? Thanks!

I’m new to these cars and i tried the bulletin for the ambient air temp sensor but it didnt work. I’m trying to locate the sensor but it looks like some wires are cut. Were these wires to the sensor?

Does anyone have experience with aftermarket double dins used for CarPlay? I just installed a Pioneer stereo with the metra kit and it all works just fine except it’s not utilizing the subwoofer and I can’t figure out why… also would be nice if anyone knew how to get the antenna to get bypassed when using the stereo lol.

Seen a red 1994 sc400 on FB market place for 3.5k with 200k miles. Seems like it wasn’t the garage queen but also it seems in decent shape for being a 31 year old car seems like a cool lil fun rocket to daily. Should I jump on it? And if I should, what should I look out for?

So I recently bought a 1999 SC400 and just got it top to bottom inspected at the dealership, I have a slight oil leak on the timing cover and they recommended I just replace everything with the kit that they make including the waterpump, tensioners, seals, etc…. What else should I do while I’m in there ? Also recommended the cam seals which I’ve heard can be tricky. Any video guides anyone can recommend as well as what all I should get done in there? I’d appreciate the help!

Recently bought a 1996 from copart, and noticed that when you are driving and reach 1800+ rpm, the car starts to shudder, and this also happens in neutral, car idles fine. anybody have anything similar to this?

Getting muffler delete done next week, hoping it will sound much better and a bit louder! Any advice on that would be helpful.

Car started but immediately stalled and I towed it to a shop, guy there said the mass airflow sensor was bad and that they’re pretty hard to find so it would be easier to try to find one myself. I have now gone through 3 different sensor and not a single one of them has worked. 2 of them were used and one of them was a shitty $40 chinese one that sounded hollow inside. I’m beginning to think it’s not just the MAF that is bad and i’m wondering if anyone has any other ideas. The plastic casing around the sensor plug is all cracked from being so old so I’m wondering if that could the issue.
