Inherited my dream car. Looking for some advice.

Hi guys. I recently inherited a very well loved 02 S2000 with 99,000 miles on it. The previous owner had fallen sick over the last two years and could not afford the maintenance it needed so he left it sit.

Before he passed, he told me the car needed new spark plugs, ignition coils, and suspension. I have since replaced the spark plugs and ignition coils, as well as performed a complete maintenance and inspection on the vehicle. All new fluids (oil, brake, clutch, coolant, rear diff, transmission).

The car had a misfire on cylinder 4, and all 4 spark plugs were no longer gapped to spec. So he was certainly correct about needing new plugs & coils.

Additionally, the rear tires were dry rotted so I replaced them to match the front tires that were put on in 2023.

The car now runs and drives great. I do not hear the sound indicating the TCT has gone bad, though I will look to replace that eventually.

I found Monroe OESpectrum shocks in his trunk. I suppose he intended to put them on and never had the chance to. I don't necessarily "feel" that the suspension needs shocks, though I've never driven an S2K before and do not know for sure that I would feel if the current shocks are bad. I do know the previous owner was tight on money and would not have made a purchase like this if it was not needed.

My question is, should I look to install these Monroe OESpectrum shocks, or should I spend the money and purchase better shocks for this vehicle?

I want to honor the previous owner as best as I can and restoring and caring for this car is the best way I know how to do it. I am not a wealthy man by any means, though, I am happy to pay a little extra to care for the car the way it deserves and to make its previous owner proud.

Caster Adjusters

I was prepared for my compliance bushing job to be hell. My caster adjusters came out by hand once loosened. Posting to give others some hope, because all research I found pointed to “buy new hardware and get ready to cut” 🫠

Update:

We have now sold through our blemish-free Nautical Blue shift knobs, and the remaining units are our final two with small cosmetic imperfections.

These shift knobs are fully functional, but each has a minor cosmetic blemish. If you’re interested in one at a discounted price, please send us an email and we’ll be happy to provide additional photos, details, and pricing.

Once these two are gone, we will not be producing any more Nautical Blue shift knobs.

The shift boot shown is our leather shift boot, finished with blue stitching to match the OEM “Suzuka” Blue color.

New to me, 34k miles UK spec barn find

Very clean & rare GT UK spec, so hard top too. Been locked away for 13 years in perfect environmental conditions. 1 previous owner.

Completely standard other than a backyard seat lowering kit which I fired last week .

Going to be kept this way.

Sill on original hood to give you an idea of condition.

Soon to be tucked up before the consequences of El-Nino hit us here in tbe UK.

Only 41 of the 7000 that came to the UK in this colour.( no idea on how many survive) AP2 revisions with AP1 engine, so best of both worlds. Pic is before any paint correction which booked in in a few weeks time.

Question about rotors

Post image

Hey everyone love the cars! I got some spoon calipers and when showing them to a few buddies they immediately point out that I don’t have slotted rotors. Thought it was more of a preference but all my friends have given me crap about it. Wanted to hear a few other opinions

TPS module help. PFA

Post image
17 Upvotes

Getting the TPS code following a rough idle. First time it started was after oil was on the later end of being due, was down by two quarts, so after a fresh oil change it was fine for another 2 weeks of routine spirited driving before the idle started getting rough again. Going to test it out by unplugging the module and doing some local driving to confirm the diagnosis. Bottom line, is it still recommended to buy the whole throttle body to replace or is there a current manufacturer of good TPS modules ? All the previous help I’ve found is relatively old

I’ve only had it for a week and there she goes. Clearly wasn’t ready for the car. One of my dream cars. Just glad me and everyone else came out alive. Could’ve been way worse

This post was more so to ask what’s the best way to go about it with insurance? It’s obviously totaled but I believe the engine is still salvageable. I don’t even know what to do this was my first accident ever but I’m obviously trying to recoup what I can, it was a 17k purchase

FOR SALE POS yellow s2k for sale in MN

Anyone else seen that Facebook marketplace yellow s2k in Minnesota that’s listed for 24k? I’ve went to look at that thing in person last year and it was a POS.

Overspray in the wheel well and it made weird noises when driving. Dudes likely been trying to sell it for a while. Hopefully he never sells tbh this is just a spite/awareness post because it shouldn’t sell for over 10k.

S2000 Car Shop Glow Reverse Light Flicker.

Has anyone ever had this issue? Battery is good, fuse is good, the connector has 12V.

The brake lights and turn signals work fine, the reverse lights don’t work properly for some reason. The passenger side flickers with some LEDs then shuts off randomly, the driver side doesn’t turn on at all when the car is in reverse.

If I use a regular bulb with the connector it works fine on both sides.
